Could Spider-Man Defeat Russell?
"The feeling of helping people is as wonderful as ever, and I don't even feel the hunger you mentioned."
After Spider-Man finished speaking to Galan, he suddenly felt a surge of new Cosmic Power into his body. He traced the source and discovered that it was from the other three Herald of Galactus.
"That's enough, that's enough. Giving me so much power is useless; I'm content."
Then the Tyrant's Herald also felt the loss of power within his body.
He looked down at his increasingly weak hands.
The energy patterns bestowed by the Cosmic Will are peeling off his skin.
The Cosmic Power was rapidly flowing away from his body, as if being torn apart by an invisible hand.
He tried to grab them, tried to press them back into his body, but the energy slipped through his fingers and surged toward Spider-Man.
"No..." the increasingly weakened Tyrant's Herald cried out, "No... this is my power, given to me by Lord Devourer of Galactus."
But his shouts had no effect; the energy patterns peeled away from his body even faster.
They converged around him, forming a dark red, flowing waterfall of energy.
A waterfall, several sizes smaller than the Galactus, gushed from the Tyrant's Herald, flowing towards Spider-Man and eventually merging into the red and blue figure already enveloped in Cosmic Energy.
"No..." another Herald of Galactus cried out, his voice filled with terror, "My power... my Cosmic Power."
His body is also changing.
Dark red energy patterns, etched with the Cosmic Power, peeled off the skin's surface and surged toward Spider-Man.
The third Herald of Galactus was also undergoing physical changes, and its energy was being lost.
His body was trembling, and he tried everything to seal off the energy within his body, but to no avail.
The three Herald of Galactus, including the Tyrant, quickly lost their Cosmic Power.
They stood in the void, their bodies dim and their faces pale, like three ordinary people whose strength had been drained.
The Tyrant's Herald's lava eyes no longer spun, and his body was no longer covered in armor.
He stood there, arms outstretched, his face contorted with despair.
"This is impossible," he said hoarsely. "This is impossible... Lord Devourer of Galactus, please help me."
Galan looked at his former subordinates and calmly shook his head.
"The Tyrant is over."
"No—" The Tyrant's Herald was unable to adapt to the drop from power to weakness.
"No... you can't, you can't just let this happen, you can't watch all our power go to that clown in the tights."
"Hehe, I'm not the Joker," Spider-Man corrected again.
"I'm Spider-Man, or you can call me Cosmic Spider-Man. This title was just suggested to me by Russell. What do you think? I think it sounds a bit more impressive than 'Friendly Neighbor.'"
The Tyrant's Herald looked at Spider-Man, who was acting innocent despite getting the better deal. His lips trembled, but no sound came out.
Meanwhile, in outer space, in the command center of the Shi'ar Empire Warship, Korath stared intently at the main screen, his brow furrowed.
His fingers tapped rhythmically on the tactical table.
"The three Herald of Galactus," he whispered, "Their Cosmic Power was all absorbed by that Spider-Man Herald of Galactus the red and blue bodysuit."
"Commander," the communications officer's voice trembled, "That's right, the sensors show that the Cosmic Energy of the three Herald of Galactus has all dropped to zero."
The person in the red and blue bodysuit absorbed all the power, including that of Galactus and his Herald of Galactus.
Korath was silent for a moment before murmuring, "No, there is another Herald of Galactus who possesses power."
"Yes, but apart from this person, Spider-Man possesses the power of Galactus, as well as the power of three Herald of Galactus. He is now—" He paused.
"He's probably the strongest being in this Galaxy right now."
"Commander." Another communications officer's voice came from another corner of the control panel.
"A call from Imperial Headquarters."
"Read."
"Headquarters says Kree Lal is saved. Russell and Spider-Man saved the Planet, and they express their gratitude on behalf of the Shi'ar Empire. Headquarters also said..."
The communications officer paused for a moment, then continued.
"Headquarters also said that His Majesty wishes to invite Russell and the man in the red and blue bodysuit to the capital of the Shi'ar Empire, and that they will be received with the highest honors."
Korath was not at all surprised by the Imperial Headquarters' attitude toward Russell and the others.
"Report back to headquarters," he carefully chose his words, "And say we will relay the message."
Beside Spider-Man, Ebony Maw stood with his arms crossed, the mocking smile on his face long gone.
He looked at Spider-Man with a complicated expression, finding it hard to believe that just a few minutes ago he was someone who couldn't even beat him, and now he had gained all of Galactus's power and ascended to become a new Cosmic God.
If Russell wasn't solely responsible for this, then his name should be reversed.
"Your Majesty," he turned to Thanos, "Do you see? Earth has gained another Cosmic God."
Thanos did not answer.
His gaze also lingered on Spider-Man, watching the Cosmic Energy enveloping him and the dark red light swirling around his body.
With his limited knowledge, it wasn't hard for him to see that the Cosmic Power emanating from Galactus was in no way inferior to that of the Infinity Stones.
"I saw it."
Knowing that Russell played an indispensable role in this, Thanos spoke up:
"Russell, can you tell me what exactly you did?"
Russell stood not far from him, hands in his pockets, his expression casual and calm.
"You saw it all, didn't you? I didn't do anything, I just told Spider-Man to say that line."
Thanos looked at him.
"That phrase," he repeated, "'Come to my body quickly'?"
"Yes." Russell nodded.
Thanos wasn't stupid; he knew that if a single sentence could reverse the power of the universe, there must be some powerful being intervening behind it.
I just don't know if it's Russell or the old man Russell called the God of Stories at the fast food restaurant.
"That sentence," he asked, "Why does it possess such immense power? The power to strip Galactus?"
"You can understand it as being related to the Cosmic Will; Spider-Man gained the approval of the Cosmic Will, that's it."
He turned his head and faced Spider-Man.
"Spider-Man now possesses the power of Galactus; he is now one of the strongest beings in the universe."
Spider-Man, passively receiving energy infusions, stands in the void of space, his entire body enveloped in powerful Cosmic Energy.
"Russell." A thought he had once given up on came to mind.
"Um?"
"I, the Cosmic Spider-Man," Spider-Man said, his voice quickening, "Am I able to defeat you now?"
Russell raised an eyebrow.
You can give it a try.
Recalling the man's known achievements, Spider-Man chuckled.
"I was just joking, don't take it seriously. After all, I can't even afford rent, how could I possibly beat you?"
