Background / History

Transmigration and executioner years

Qin Zheng awakened in the Great Jin Dynasty after the original owner of his body died from a palm strike. The body’s former identity was an executioner in Black Goose City, Qingzhou; Qin was seventeen when the Merit Scroll first identified the Ghost-head Saber and offered to refine it into martial arts 1.

He discovered that executing wicked people earned Merit, which could refine items and elevate martial arts. This realization drove him to behead Shi Yan despite the condemned man’s threats, pleas, and attempted rescue by the Golden Cicada Gang. Shi Yan’s death made Qin a target of the gang and its leader, but also gave him the means to survive 3.

Qin traded his perfected Ghost-head Saber Technique for the incomplete Golden Cicada Sheds Its Shell and Dragon-Elephant Prajna Skill, then used Merit to rapidly develop both. The incompleteness of the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Skill made its power dangerous: his strength increased faster than his internal organs and physical body could endure 8 15.

Rise in Qingzhou

After killing Shi Dian and dismantling the Golden Cicada Gang’s remaining threats, Qin acquired the Great Sun Golden Cicada Skill and learned that Merit rewards were based on a victim’s sins rather than their strength 19 21.

His growing strength made him a central figure in Black Goose City and Qingzhou. He eliminated corrupt Canoe Gang members, hunted demons, defeated Grandmasters, and became known for destroying the demons of Moxu Mountain and killing Gao Wusheng before Gao Clan Grandmasters 28 60 77.

Qin joined the Great Jin Dynasty’s Ren Character Camp as a flank general. There he gained access to military resources, fought alongside Demon Slayers, and rose from a martial artist with exceptional raw strength into a Grandmaster and later a Great Grandmaster 77 90 108 130.

Personality

Qin Zheng is fundamentally survival-driven. Early in his life in Great Jin, he concluded that mercy toward those determined to kill him would only endanger him, and he acted decisively against Shi Yan, Golden Cicada Gang remnants, and later enemies 3 7 11.

His ruthlessness is selective rather than indiscriminate. Qin chose not to kill the unconscious Bailiff Xu after the Merit Scroll showed no indication that Xu was guilty, instead staging the aftermath of Shi Dian’s death to protect him 19. He also rescued captives from Bear Lord and Toad Lord’s caves and ensured their safety before confronting Gao Wusheng 70.

Qin repays genuine kindness. Wang Er’s early help earned his lasting gratitude, and Qin continued treating him as a friend even after his own status rose. He also responded to Mu Jinyan’s loyalty with personal concern after returning to Ning’an City 15 210.
