Background and History

Marvin was part of Butcher’s team before Rorschach recruited them for a campaign against The Seven. The team had suffered a major setback and scattered, leaving Marvin and Frenchie skeptical of Rorschach’s first plan. During the operation against The Deep, Marvin argued that they should kill their unconscious target. He followed Rorschach’s decision to expose The Deep’s gills instead and was pleased when the footage became a scandal 5 6.

Marvin’s desire to avenge his family is tied to Soldier Boy. The trauma also shaped strict routines: he aligned cutlery precisely and checked the gas stove three times before bed. When Rorschach confirmed that Soldier Boy was alive, Marvin was moved to tears, though he was told revenge would have to wait 17.

As the conflict with Vought intensified, Marvin struggled to balance that goal against the safety of Monica and their daughter. He considered leaving The Boys, then chose to remain because he feared what his impulsive teammates might do without him. He later told Butcher that he and Monica were divorced and that she and their daughter were moving away from the danger.
