Mu Yang and Sami chatted on and off, gaining a rough understanding of Superpower Academy. After about ten minutes, Shayeton returned from the direction of Superpower Academy, with a slender, petite figure following behind him.
Bright-eyed and fair-toothed, graceful and delicate, with glossy dark-green hair falling just over her ears—it was Meixia, whom he had not seen in years.
Meixia was already fifteen. Her body had matured, and she had grown quite a bit taller. Her slender frame now possessed the look of a budding young girl. When she spotted Mu Yang from afar, delight flashed through her emerald, rippling eyes. Then she cried out in joy, pale green radiance shimmering around her as she rushed toward Mu Yang on a swirling gust like a jade-green tornado.
"Senior Brother, Senior Brother, what made you think of coming to see me?" Meixia's clear voice rang by his ear.
Mu Yang caught Meixia as she threw herself at him. The soft touch and fresh fragrance made him pause, and he could not help wondering whether this beautiful young girl was really the Meixia who had always trailed behind him back then.
She wore a loose black academy robe with long sleeves, its collar standing high and its hem split into several coat-like tails. With a pair of sunglasses, she would have looked incredibly stylish.
But she was really strong! he muttered inwardly as he looked at the girl before him.
"I missed you after not seeing you for several years, so I came to visit."
Meixia giggled and rolled her eyes at Mu Yang. "Who are you trying to fool? I don't believe that."
"Fine if you don't believe me." Mu Yang shrugged.
Meixia had not gone home at all these past years. Apparently, it was an internal rule of Superpower Academy. It seemed that students could only graduate and leave once they reached the upper age limit or their abilities met a certain standard. Supposedly, this was meant to protect beginners while also keeping the academy's location secret.
Mu Yang stroked the girl's fluffy dark-green hair, then turned to Sami and Shayeton. "Meixia and I haven't seen each other in a long time. I'd like to take her out for a walk."
"Please, go ahead." Sami smiled faintly before leaving with Shayeton.
"My instructor knew you were here, Senior Brother, so she gave me a day off." Meixia eagerly took Mu Yang's hand. Her pale little hand was cool and smooth, gentle as jade. "Senior Brother, I haven't seen you in so long. Tell me about the sect..."
"Of course!" Mu Yang nodded with a smile, taking Meixia's hand and leading her toward the temporary shelter he had built.
Blue ripples stirred across the surface of the pool, water murmured softly, and birds sang amid fragrant flowers. The tranquil scenery was dreamlike in its beauty. Mu Yang and Meixia sat on the ground, chatting about the interesting things they had encountered over the past few years.
When Mu Yang spoke of coming to participate in the World's Number One Martial Arts Tournament and winning the championship, he proudly glanced at Meixia. Sure enough, she wore a look of astonishment, making him even more pleased with himself.
"Senior Brother, you've become this amazing in just over three years..." Meixia's eyes shone as she chattered excitedly.
"Of course."
The corners of Mu Yang's mouth lifted slightly. In front of Meixia, this innocent girl, he felt more relaxed than ever before. The worries that had been clogging his chest vanished at once, leaving him exceptionally refreshed. At that moment, Saiyans and Frieza alike faded completely from his mind.
"Then I'll participate in the next martial arts tournament too. When that time comes, I'll defeat you." Meixia spoke seriously.
"That won't be easy." Mu Yang chuckled, placing a hand atop her head. Then he seemed to remember something and took a lens-like device from his clothes, handing it to her.
"Meixia, this is for you." It was an Energy Detector.
Other than the matter of Acceleration Space, he had not hidden the discovery of the alien spacecraft from Meixia.
Meixia took the detector and curiously examined the lens-like device. "This is the Energy Detector you mentioned before? Alien technology?"
"That's right. There are only three on Earth, so make sure you keep it safe." Mu Yang smiled at her.
"Oh, I understand." Meixia was delighted and made as if to lean in and lightly kiss Mu Yang on the cheek.
Mu Yang was waiting for it, but Meixia suddenly hesitated. Seeing the expectant look on his face, she actually gave a mischievous chuckle. Instead of bringing her lips closer, she reached out her hand, curled her index finger and thumb, and flicked him on the face with a snap.
"Cough, cough!"
What a little imp! This was not how the script was supposed to go.
In such a lovely moment, with the two of them childhood sweethearts, shouldn't she have kissed him first? Rubbing the spot Meixia had flicked, Mu Yang coughed lightly. He was not some lolicon! The girl before him was no longer a little girl! At most, she was still a bit small.
But that was fine. She would grow up in a few years.
Then he taught Meixia how to use the Energy Detector. The detector used hexadecimal, so Mu Yang had to teach her how to convert hexadecimal into decimal. However, Meixia was very quick-witted and learned it swiftly.
Once she had learned, Meixia eagerly tested herself. The displayed reading converted to "41."
"Battle Power of 41? Why is it so low? Is that considered high or low?" Meixia looked up at Mu Yang with clear eyes.
Mu Yang smiled. "It's already very good."
Forty-one points of Battle Power represented the energy within Meixia's body, and it was certainly not a poor result. The source of Psychic Power was also energy, but this energy was more restrained, rather than purely explosive force. Depending on the type of Psychic Power used, it produced different effects.
Yet one thing remained the same: the greater the energy value, the more effective the battle results. If Meixia used her Psychic Power now, even the current Mu Yang would not be able to break free for a while.
"Senior Brother, what's your Battle Power?"
"97!"
"Eh? That's such a huge difference!"
Meixia looked dejected. She had thought the gap between herself and her senior brother would not be so great, but now she did not even have half his Battle Power. Pouting, she bared her teeth and claws playfully before pouncing on Mu Yang and knocking him onto the grass.
"Stop messing around. Your Battle Power is already very good. The other senior brothers and junior brothers in the Da Qingshan Mountains only have Battle Power in the twenties or thirties even now."
"Really?"
"I wouldn't lie to you."
Grrr~ After playing around for a while, her stomach finally began protesting.
"I'm hungry." Meixia rubbed her belly.
"Meixia, let Senior Brother treat you to his cooking again today."
"Okay!" Meixia cried happily. Mu Yang was in high spirits as well. The two seemed to have returned to their childhood, carefree and untroubled, with a faint warmth lingering in their hearts.
Mu Yang gathered firewood and started a fire, while Meixia brought back some game. Mu Yang cleaned it and set it on a grill. Before long, the food was roasted golden-brown, fat dripping steadily from it. After sprinkling on the essential seasonings, the senior brother and junior sister feasted heartily.
Happy times were always short. Time slipped away unnoticed, and soon it was time to part.
When it was time to leave, Meixia was reluctant to go, her eyes brimming with tears.
"Senior Brother, I have to go back. You have to come see me often from now on."
"I definitely will."
"I'll be angry if you don't." Meixia wrinkled her cute little nose.
"I know." Seeing her pitiful expression, Mu Yang broke into a smile.
Only after receiving Mu Yang's promise did Meixia reluctantly fly toward the academy. Watching her shrinking silhouette, Mu Yang remained where he was for a moment and adjusted his mood.
He raised his head and looked toward the clear, flawless sky. Mu Yang's eyes gradually hardened with resolve. Then he rose into the air and, with a whoosh, sped toward the horizon, quickly vanishing into the vast heavens.
