As soon as Ieta Cavendish spoke, Jiang Hao turned his gaze toward him.
As a participant, Jiang Hao knew exactly what had caused the Lord of Dawn's divine punishment and how it had ended. He had raised the question to guide them into making a trade here—and to give away a small gift while he was at it.
He had originally had Avram Krell in mind, but it seemed the gift would go to Ieta Cavendish instead.
Fate really is strange... Jiang Hao smiled. "Go ahead."
Were they about to reveal a secret of the gods?
Fiona Russell pricked up her ears and listened with curiosity.
Avram Krell was curious too, though not about the same thing. He wanted to know who Ieta Cavendish was.
Anyone who knew about the affairs of gods was no ordinary person.
He probably isn't a Demigod or a god. If he were, my knowledge spirituality would have alerted me.
Judging by his age, he probably isn't a church official either. Unless the church serves a New God, none of its leaders would be this young, and no New God has been born in nearly a century.
A participant? A witness? Someone from a divine-blooded family connected to the Lord of Dawn?
Avram Krell thought it over and began to form a guess. He said he wasn't on the Main Plane, so he couldn't have been a participant. Leaving the Main Plane after angering the Lord of Dawn would be suicide.
It's unlikely he was a witness, either. Most likely, he belongs to a divine-blooded family connected to the Lord of Dawn.
The Lord of Dawn has no descendants by blood. The Dusk God does, but the Ingna Rui Family keeps a remarkably low profile. The Dusk God seems to hold them in little favor, and they rarely receive divine revelations.
Without divine revelations, they might not know about this.
The Cavendish Family, descendants of the Lord of Dawn? That's a strong possibility.
Ever since Lathander, the Lord of Dawn, perished after causing the Dawn Calamity in the last era, the Cavendish Family has been very active on the Main Plane. They also possess the Prophecy Crown, a Divine Artifact.
Avram Krell recalled what he had read about the matter in Graycastle.
In the Fourth Era, before causing the Dawn Calamity, Lathander had personally visited the Prophecy God's realm. Soon afterward, Lathander perished. News of the Prophecy God's death followed, and the Cavendish Family came into possession of a new Divine Artifact—the Prophecy Crown.
The Cavendish Family, on an Outer Plane... Of the sixteen divine sons of the Lord of Dawn in this generation, only Ieta Cavendish chose to go to the Abyssal Blood War Battlefield, hoping to raise his class level quickly through battle.
Could he be Ieta Cavendish? Avram Krell watched the figure shrouded in mysterious white light with keen interest, like an amateur detective eager to learn whether his deductions were right.
Ieta Cavendish had no idea his identity was nearly exposed. He gathered his thoughts and said, "The Lord of Dawn unleashed his wrath because a False God had seized authority over the 'sun.'"
A False God again? Fiona Russell recalled what her teacher had said in class: False Gods were born from ignorant faith. They were essentially Demigods and were common in the Second Era.
The Second Era had seen an explosion of new races. As they multiplied and spread across the continent, ignorant faith sprang up everywhere, giving rise to many False Gods.
But hadn't False Gods lost the conditions they needed to survive by the Fourth Era? How could a new one have been born? She was baffled.
"The Lord of Dawn is a New God born in the current era—the Fifth Era. He has always coveted authority over the 'sun,' but for some unknown reason, he has never succeeded... He hates every being that holds it."
"Isn't the Lord of Dawn one of the Seven Primordial Gods?" Fiona Russell couldn't help interrupting.
Her teacher, her father, and everyone else she had heard on the subject said that the Lord of Dawn was one of the Seven Primordial Gods, a deity who had existed since the world's creation.
Yet the mysterious gentleman before her claimed that the Lord of Dawn was a New God born in this era?
Good question. I want to know too... Jiang Hao silently agreed.
"Heh!"
Ieta Cavendish gave a cold laugh. He glanced at the paper figure, who showed no surprise, then at His Highness in white ceremonial robes, who seemed equally unsurprised. "The god who existed at the world's creation was Amanatar, the Ancient Sun God. After he perished, Lathander, the Lord of Dawn, was born from him. Later, Lathander perished in the Dawn Calamity, and the present Lord of Dawn and the Dusk God were born from him."
"Is that true?" Fiona Russell exclaimed.
"It is," Avram Krell said. That hostility toward the Lord of Dawn had settled it: the figure in the mysterious white light was Ieta Cavendish. Only a descendant of Lathander would bear the Lord of Dawn such animosity.
After all, they were mortal enemies.
Pleased to have his answer, he smiled gently and said, "In fact, the Mysterious Girl, one of the Seven Primordial Gods, has a similar history."
"After Mystryl, the Weave Sovereign who existed at the world's creation, perished, Mystra, the Mother of All Magic, was born from her body. Later, Mystra perished, and the present Mysterious Girl was born from hers."
"Some say the primordial gods never perished, and that the New Gods who appeared later are merely other identities of the Seven Primordial Gods. That, they claim, is why they can bear the title."
"Whoever said that must be an idiot," Ieta Cavendish said coldly.
Avram Krell nodded slightly. "I think so too."
After all, if Amanatar, the Ancient Sun God, had not perished, no False God could have arisen to seize authority over the "sun."
"As for how this matter ended," Ieta Cavendish said, returning to the subject, "the Lady of Night is involved, so I don't know all the details. I only know that the Lord of Dawn sent down an oracle from his Divine Kingdom. Afterward, the Church of Dawn assembled a god-slaying team of five Legendary experts and a Demigod known as the 'Light of All Worlds.'"
Five Legendary experts and a Demigod. They really think highly of me... Jiang Hao listened quietly until Ieta Cavendish finished. Then he smiled and said, "I'm satisfied with your answer. In return, I'll give you a clue to an authority you could claim."
"That authority is called..."
"Steam!"
