After a meeting full of arguments, they finally reached a plan everyone could accept. They unanimously agreed to save themselves using the body the Son of God had left in the mortal world—the most precious gift God had bestowed upon the Believers of Christianity.
Some heads of state wanted others to take the lead so they could reap the fruits of victory from behind. But no one else was a fool. One threat—"If you won't join us, we won't do it either. We can all die together"—forced those hoping to profit without lifting a finger to swallow their objections and join the operation.
The operation had no leader.
Because no one wanted to be the leader.
Christianity had once sought, in the name of the Omnipotence of God, to extinguish the Radiance of every other god on Blue Star and make its Lord the sole object of faith. Perhaps it could not stand against the whole world. Its more than two billion Believers could not defeat over five billion followers of other faiths.
But if the Papal State grew angry enough to destroy any one country in the world, that would hardly be difficult.
The powers of the new era might have the strength to resist and might not be crushed. But countries like theirs, with neither Mystic Power nor a god to manifest and protect them, had no power to fight back at all.
And as for their alliance, just because they had all conspired against the Papal State once did not make them true comrades.
In politics, a country that refrained from stabbing you in the back and merely devoured your corpse afterward to strengthen its own economy and military was already a fine ally. Expecting one to help you withstand an enemy it plainly could not resist?
