Background
Xiong Feng’s father, Xiong Batian, rose from an ordinary commoner to become North Sea City’s lord and a Power Attack System Soul Ancestor. He married the eldest daughter of the Ximen Family and obtained a suitable Hundred-Year Soul Ring with help from its head, Xiong Feng’s grandfather 7 11.
At North Sea Junior Soul Master Academy, Xiong Feng leads the Noble Faction. Before facing Mo An, he had defeated every student who challenged him, including older students who already possessed Ten-Year Soul Rings 9.
Appearance
- Build: Tall and sturdy, described as resembling a young bull 9 10.
- Martial Soul manifestation: The Icefield Giant Bear appears behind him; partial possession produces a faint white shimmer over his arms 9.
Personality
Initially domineering and accustomed to obedience, Xiong Feng treats recruitment as something he can enforce through strength. He has previously beaten resistant Noble Faction members into submission. His father’s repeated praise of Mo An sparks his desire to recruit the prodigy first and prove his own worth 9.
His pride makes public defeat difficult to accept: he continues their first fight despite wanting to surrender because his followers are watching. For the rematch, he comes alone so that he can concede without the same pressure 10.
Beneath that arrogance, Xiong Feng values fair competition. He trains specifically to overcome Mo An, accepts his eventual defeat without excuses, and does not retaliate through his family’s influence. He also sincerely encourages Mo An to accept cultivation support rather than let his talent go to waste 10 11.
Abilities & Skills
Icefield Giant Bear
- Partial Martial Soul Possession: Enhances his arms and modestly increases his strength 9.
- Limit: Without a Soul Ring, he cannot achieve true Martial Soul Possession 9.
- Combat weaknesses: He lacks an effective ranged attack and is not particularly quick, making it difficult to approach Mo An through the bamboo’s reach 9.
Close-Range Combat
- Natural strength: Born with immense strength, he can defeat some students who have already become one-ring Soul Masters 9.
- Specialized preparation: Hires a bamboo-wielding Two-Ring Soul Grandmaster for intensive training before his rematch. He rejects an earlier one-ring training partner because that partner’s bamboo is insufficiently hard 10.
- Weapon-grabbing tactic: Takes a bamboo strike on one arm, then seizes the weapon to remove Mo An’s reach advantage and pull himself closer 11.
- Counter: Mo An releases the bamboo during a pull, unbalancing him and creating an opening for a flying kick 11.
Relationships
- Xiong Batian — Father and source of his inherited Martial Soul. Xiong Feng initially competes with him to recruit Mo An, then advocates accepting his father’s patronage 9 11.
- Mo An — Initially a recruitment target, later a respected sparring rival. Xiong Feng seeks victory through preparation rather than retaliation and proposes another fair match once Mo An obtains his First Soul Ring 9 10 11.
- Noble Faction followers — Underlings who support his recruitment demands and cheer during his first fight. He restrains one follower from attacking Mo An, but later uses his fists to silence followers questioning his withdrawal 9 10.
- Head of the Ximen Family — Grandfather whose assistance with Xiong Batian’s early cultivation serves as Xiong Feng’s example of the value of powerful connections 11.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Attempted Recruitment
Xiong Feng blocks Mo An’s path with more than a dozen followers and offers him the Noble Faction’s second-in-command position. When Mo An refuses, they agree to fight: Mo An must join if he loses, while Xiong Feng must stop recruiting him if he cannot win 9.
Mo An gains the upper hand, repeatedly striking Xiong Feng’s arms and keeping him at range. Recognizing that Xiong Feng wants to stop, Mo An offers a face-saving draw. News of the result discourages the academy’s factions from bothering Mo An 9 10.
Private Rematch
Before obtaining his First Soul Ring, Xiong Feng challenges Mo An again in the secluded back garden. His new weapon-grabbing strategy briefly closes the distance, but Mo An counters and defeats him decisively. Xiong Feng acknowledges the loss and suggests waiting until Mo An has a Soul Ring before their next contest 10 11.
Advice on Patronage
Xiong Feng’s explanation of his family’s support prompts Mo An to reconsider joining a powerful faction. Although Mo An declines Xiong Batian’s offer, the conversation leads him toward the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. He leaves after wishing Xiong Feng success in obtaining his First Soul Ring 11 12.
