Background / History
Shisui is Kagami Uchiha’s grandson and grows up alongside Shinji. Shinji describes spending seventeen years trying to reshape his outlook; by the time they return to Konoha, Shisui’s beliefs and goals have changed substantially. Hiruzen had previously approached him hoping to cultivate another ally like Kagami, but found his views unorthodox 2 3 11 22.
After graduating early, Shisui spends most of his time on battlefields or at the border alongside Shinji, rarely returning to the village. Their reputations reach Konoha before them, where Teuchi greets them as “Body Flicker Shisui” and “Fire God Shinji” 3 12.
Appearance
- Hair and face: Slightly curly hair and a round nose 2.
- Early equipment: Immaculate ninja gear and a short sword carried across his back 2.
- Mangekyō pattern: Four-point pinwheel-shaped eyes 3.
- After Danzō’s ambush: Missing his right eye, with the socket bandaged at the clan meeting 13 15.
- Final transformation: Two-toned eyes, light at the center and darker at the edges, overlaid with deep-purple Rinnegan patterns and six silver-gray tomoe 303.
Personality
Shisui is polite, dependable, and easily embarrassed by praise or teasing. He dislikes his “Body Flicker” nickname enough to bow and ask Shinji to stop using it. Even after becoming much stronger, he retains his courteous manner toward Orochimaru and a cautious attitude toward exhausting his eyes 2 3 135 182.
His loyalty to Shinji does not eliminate his moral objections. He pleads for restraint toward the elders who betrayed him, condemns the apparent sacrifice of Izumi for a secret plan, and refuses to accept Itachi’s death as an easy solution to political complications 14 33 182.
Witnessing Karin and her mother’s exploitation challenges his earlier understanding of duty as simply fighting for the village and clan. He becomes eager to punish Kusagakure’s abusers, but later favors negotiation in the Land of Iron and shows mercy toward Nobihi even after Nobihi attacks him 88 283 285.
He also develops greater strategic awareness. After Shinji’s battle with Urashiki, he asks whether others can acquire comparable power, recognizing that an entire Ōtsutsuki race poses a larger threat than one opponent 212.
Abilities & Skills
Mangekyō Sharingan
Shisui awakens the Mangekyō before Shinji, initially finding its chakra deeply unsettling 3.
- His eyes grant two named dōjutsu and enable Susanoo 3 134.
- His enhanced powers do not make him immune to hostile dōjutsu: Nanashi turns him against Shinji before Shinji incapacitates him 186.
- Susanoo’s ocular-power drain remains a practical limitation after his Hashirama-cell operation 135.
Heavenly Rock Cave
Heavenly Rock Cave is the ability of Shisui’s left eye. His recovery after Danzō’s ambush is attributed to Mangekyō power, while his later discussion of Izumi establishes that Heavenly Rock Cave cannot work on the dead 3 13 33.
- Shinji considers it his final safeguard against Fugaku’s unknown Mangekyō ability 15.
- Shisui believes he could have kept Izumi alive had he known about the plan beforehand 33.
- It cannot resurrect someone who has already died 33.
Kotoamatsukami
Kotoamatsukami is Shisui’s right-eye ability—the eye Danzō steals during the Root ambush 3 14.
- Shisui later considers using it on Orochimaru, but Shinji says Orochimaru was never its intended target 86.
- He proposes repeatedly casting it by switching between a double and his original body, then using a fresh eye. Shinji rejects the idea, and Shisui acknowledges that the ability needs limits 214.
- The supplied events do not establish when his stolen eye is recovered 14 86.
Susanoo
Shisui manifests a green Susanoo after his operation, progressing to a Complete-Body form 134 135.
- Appearance: Mountain-sized, fully armored, and winged, with Shisui positioned inside an emerald crystal on its forehead 135.
- Weapon: A massive spiral sword whose rotation churns the surrounding wind and clouds 135.
- Battlefield use: Bombards the Kannabi Bridge area to shake the ground and help Shinji locate an underground space 182.
- Limit: He dismisses it during his spar when its consumption of ocular power becomes too high 135.
Body Flicker, Swordsmanship, and Taijutsu
His speed earns him the name “Body Flicker Shisui,” although he admits that Shinji’s Body Flicker surpasses his own 2 25.
- Exchanges sword strikes, taijutsu, and Body Flicker techniques with Shinji during their post-operation test 134.
- Trains Karin in taijutsu, emphasizing gradual physical development and her Uzumaki potential 120.
- Receives a Flying Thunder God scroll, but no mastery of that technique is demonstrated in the supplied events 135.

- Uses a powerful Great Dragon Fire Technique against Shinji, supported by his increased chakra reserves 134.
- Blocks Nanashi’s fire attack before falling under her dōjutsu 186.
Wood Release
- Uses Deep Forest Emergence while masked to overwhelm Kakashi’s escort, drain the group’s chakra, and take Itachi 174 182.
- Maintains a Wood Locking Wall around Shinji while Shinji examines his newly awakened power 220.
Summoning and Intelligence Work
- Summons Chōmei, the Seven-Tails, when Shinji requests it at Reed Hideout 200.
- Sends Shinji a secret message containing the single word “Root” 71.

Relationships
