"Skadi: It's you guys who look just like me!"
"Sea Creature 6: Take it with us, take it with us! We can't let any family member go hungry!"
"Sea Creature 7: Charge!"
Looking at the large swarm of pale Sea Creatures, flying around and chattering.
Chen Ran tried to listen to what the Sea Creatures were saying, but upon hearing that it was all about eating, he decided to ignore it and let his ears rest.
"But these Sea Creatures have evolved so quickly? They've already evolved into white-haired, red-eyed beings before ascending?"
Although Chen Ran knew the reason why the Sea Creatures had evolved this way, he still found it a bit amusing: "When they became like this, didn't they scare that Little Orca from the normal timeline?"
Tens of thousands of pseudo-humans, all looking exactly like himself, appearing before his eyes could truly leave psychological scars.
Heart of the Corrupted Skadi, upon hearing this, glanced at the vast expanse of pale Sea Creatures and said, "She's smiling quite happily."
"Are you sure?" Chen Ran couldn't help himself.
Heart of the Corrupted Skadi took another serious look at the Sea Creature swarm, listened intently again, and then stated seriously, "Certain."
"Oh."
Chen Ran was sure there was some misunderstanding involved, but he didn't have the leisure to investigate it in the planetary model of the normal timeline, because Chen Ran still needed to observe whether the planet of food would experience another mass extinction with the arrival of the new batch of Sea Creatures.
So, Chen Ran put Skadi's matter aside for the moment, held Heart of the Corrupted Skadi in his palm, turned, and walked before the planet of food.
He bent down and looked.
Inside the planet of food, an incredibly bizarre scene was unfolding.
In the extremely ancient era, before human civilization even emerged, before even primitive society existed, a large swarm of beautiful girls with white hair, red eyes, wearing bright and beautiful dresses, with stockings of various colors on their legs and high heels on their feet, had become the apex of the food chain through their incredibly primitive hunting methods.
It couldn't be helped, Sea Creatures weren't picky eaters; they ate almost anything.
And other creatures probably couldn't understand how those beautiful girls with white hair and red eyes, with such small mouths, could tilt their heads back, split their jaws wider than their entire bodies, and devour three pigs at once.
This led to other creatures wanting to survive either by reproducing madly, giving birth to a hundred offspring per litter to pile up numbers, or by growing wildly like bamboo, before you could eat them.
Concepts like having fewer children and better births were non-existent on this planet of food; they had long been eaten to extinction.
And the result of this—
was that the Sea Creatures were truly fed.
As a result, these Sea Creatures lived lives of eating and sleeping, sleeping and eating.
When they were full, they would lie on the beach and sunbathe. When they got a bit dry from the sun, they would jump into the sea to rehydrate.
While swimming, they discovered there was also food in the sea, so they would eat their fill again and have to swim back ashore to lie on the beach and sunbathe again, repeating this cycle.
060. Skadi: I was fed by Sea Creatures? Is that for real?
"But speaking of which..."
Chen Ran looked at the Sea Creatures lying on the beach, basking in the sun with their limbs sprawled out on the planet of food.
He couldn't help but stroke his chin as he focused his gaze on the thighs of the Sea Creatures.
Indeed, wet bodies combined with white hair and red eyes, this scene was definitely heavenly for Chinese people.
But what Chen Ran was more interested in were the stockings of various colors.
"The main materials for stockings are nylon and polyester fiber, and these things are refined from petroleum..."
With that thought, Chen Ran turned and looked at the planetary models beside him.
"The stockings on the Sea Creatures were materialized by themselves; they are actually part of their own body tissues."
"But whether it's the survivors in the Sea Creature's world-ending timeline or the Terra people in the normal timeline, the stockings on their legs are real."
"If the stockings on those people's legs were not by-products of petroleum refining, but made from other materials,"
"to achieve that semi-transparent thinness, a silky smooth feel, and even the ability to be torn and used as disposable items..."
"then this item, while perhaps not exclusive to royalty, would definitely not be cheap."
"But that's clearly not the case, because people like Frost, Silence, Robin, and others, who are described as being dirt poor, each have a pair of stockings."
"And if those stockings were indeed by-products of petroleum..."
Chen Ran seemed to understand why that semi-transparent pop-up window had once mocked him, "You are so kind-hearted, you chose not to mine and instead played Civilization."
However, after saying all this, it might all be resolved with the simple statement, "People who seek realism in fictional stories must have something wrong with their brains."
So, Chen Ran temporarily put this matter in his mind and then turned back to look at the planet of food, because since a moment ago, that semi-transparent pop-up window had started to scroll across the screen:
"Your Sea Creature [number unknown] is eating heartily."
"You have gained a new ability: Appetite Increased."
"One of your Sea Creatures, [random number], is frantically devouring food."
"You have gained a new ability: Appetite Increased."
"One of your Sea Creatures, [random number], is..."
Chen Ran: "?"
Never mind.
Chen Ran had long grown accustomed to the unreliability of these semi-transparent pop-up windows.
Ignoring them for the moment, Chen Ran looked directly at the food planet.
The newly arrived batch of Sea Creatures adapted quickly. Upon landing, they immediately began to eat, devouring whatever they found.
Chen Ran observed them for a good while.
He confirmed that these Sea Creatures were not wasteful, discarding food after a single bite. Instead, they were thrifty, crushing and swallowing even the bones of their prey before seeking their next meal. Only then did Chen Ran nod.
As long as he managed them properly, there shouldn't be a mass extinction event.
At worst, Chen Ran could manually adjust the ecological balance, feeding the Sea Creatures some hamster food to give other life forms a brief respite.
Or, he could just create a large fish tank, like with Heart of the Corrupted Skadi, and keep them all together.
As Chen Ran mused these thoughts, he scanned the food planet back and forth, as if observing an ecological terrarium.
Soon, Chen Ran discovered one... well, a Sea Creature that wasn't quite fitting in.
It was a Sea Creature, right?
It had white hair and red eyes, the same face as Skadi's Little Orca.
But it was wearing the proper Skadi hunter outfit, the one with the opening on the inner thigh for a greatsword.
However, this 'Sea Creature' wasn't holding a greatsword. Instead, it held a chicken in its left hand and a duck in its right, standing in place with clear, confused eyes, unsure of what to do.
Who am I? Where am I? Why am I here?
She wasn't a Sea Creature. She was the real Skadi from a normal timeline.
It was just that when the Sea Creatures ascended, Skadi was already being dragged and held by them. So, when the Sea Creatures ascended, they took her along for the ride.
Skadi struggled, but it was no use, as she could only block them.
Now that the group of Sea Creatures had finally let her go, Skadi landed and looked around. "Huh? Where did those Sea Creatures bring me? Is this still Terra?"
The Sea Creatures who came with her were originally eager to feast.
But as they were eating, they looked over and noticed that Skadi, this 'Sea Creature,' wasn't eating.
So, as if afraid Skadi would starve to death, the Sea Creatures proactively stuffed the ingredients they had hunted into Skadi's hands.
Now you won't starve, right?
But Skadi looked down at the 'food' in her hands, still dripping blood, its eyes wide open as if it had died with unfinished business...
Skadi became even more confused.
I'm being fed by Sea Creatures?
And they're earnestly telling me to eat properly?
They even said it's okay if I can't hunt, that it's just one more pair of chopsticks, and they can afford to feed me?
Huh?
Is this real?
This dream is quite vivid.
Then, after an unknown amount of time, Skadi suddenly felt someone poke her little head.
This made Skadi instinctively look up. She saw that Lord God had appeared outside the planet, looking with great interest, reaching out a finger as if to tease a small animal.
Fortunately, the shock of Lord God's appearance was far greater than being fed by Sea Creatures.
So Skadi finally woke up as if from a dream and quickly reached out her hand, wanting to grasp the fingertip that was poking her head.
Skadi was simpleminded, not stupid. She knew this might be her only chance to escape her current predicament.
So Skadi opened her mouth and shouted, "Lord God! I—"
As soon as Skadi shouted, cheers erupted all around them in unison:
"Lord God!"
"Lord God, are you here to feed us?"
"Lord God! Food! Hungry! Eat!"
Perhaps it was the previous experience of that group of Sea Creatures shouting, "Family, I'm getting food again!" that made the other Sea Creatures too envious, so much so that tens of thousands of Sea Creatures were all shouting for food and expressing hunger, completely drowning out Skadi's voice.
As for Chen Ran, he was initially quite curious why this 'Sea Creature' looked so silly and wanted to tease it a bit.
But in the next second, he saw a large expanse of white Sea Creatures surging towards his fingertips, with many even clinging to his fingertips and trying to climb up.
This made Chen Ran's mouth twitch: "Alright, alright, stop messing around, you're hurting my ears."
Chen Ran quickly withdrew his hand, but found it seemed a step too late. His fingertips felt wet, as if he had touched sand, So Chen Ran had no choice but to pluck the Sea Creatures clinging to his fingertips one by one, and throw them back to the food planet: "You want food again, right? Fine, wait, I'll go grab you a handful of hamster food."
"Hooray!"
"Lord God is distributing relief food!"
Skadi, who was being squeezed by a large group of Sea Creatures and didn't know what to do: "What about me? What about me???"
061. The Sea Creatures Feared Skadi Would Starve to Death
Chen Ran walked to the table and casually grabbed a handful from the fruit platter.
Turning around to go back and feed the group of Sea Creatures, Chen Ran suddenly stopped and took a few steps back, looking back at the table, because Chen Ran only then realized that the Demon King Rabbit, who had been dueling with the small cake earlier, seemed to have eaten its fill.
It was lying on a pack of napkins with a happy expression, its eyes closed as if it were resting and digesting.
And unlike Heart of the Corrupted Skadi, whose stomach never seemed to grow no matter how much she ate, the Demon King Rabbit's little belly was now round and full, clearly having eaten too much.
