Background / History

Heart of the Corrupted Skadi led the Great Swarm’s attempt to break through the Starship Pod and ascend from Terra. Although the collective had consumed billions of lives and was regarded as godlike, Chen Ran’s hand effortlessly reached across space and removed their “mother” from them. She remained outside the planet model when it shrank, becoming a tiny physical manifestation in Chen Ran’s hand. 1

Her consciousness is Isabella’s rather than Skadi’s. As a Sea Creature deity, she initially lacks human concepts such as modesty, treating clothing as an aesthetic object rather than a necessity; she can alter her body into forms such as tentacles, a lamprey mouth, or a split head when useful. 3 After realizing that Chen Ran could provide food, water, and shelter without the Great Swarm needing to continue its old mission, she lost her sole directive of ensuring the swarm’s continuance. 2 3

Chen Ran gradually domesticated her through food, housing, clothes, and access to a phone. She rapidly learned his language and began imitating human behavior, though her understanding of social rules remained simplistic. Her belief in Chen Ran spread through the Hive Cluster Mind, turning the Great Swarm into his followers. 5 8

When Amiya attacked Chen Ran’s perceived form, Heart of the Corrupted Skadi immediately entered Terra to defend him. She used Great Silence and the Sea Creature swarm against Amiya until Chen Ran physically removed both combatants from the planet model. 17 18

Later, she descended into Terra in a colossal form to call the scattered Sea Creatures “home for dinner.” Her song drew Sea Creatures from across the land and sea, but her attempt to bring them ashore nearly recreated the apocalypse through collateral destruction. She subsequently gathered the Sea Creatures into the Hive Cluster Mind and transported them toward Chen Ran’s gourmet planet. 37 39

Appearance

Heart of the Corrupted Skadi retains Skadi’s human-shaped body despite Isabella controlling its consciousness. Her size is highly variable, ranging from a tiny figure small enough to sit in Chen Ran’s palm to a mountain-sized Sea Creature deity. 1 37 177

  • Clear, innocent-looking eyes and an often vacant or puzzled expression. 2 38
  • Usually floats rather than walks. 2 15
  • Originally manifested at approximately 10 cm tall; later restored to 166 cm. 2 177
  • Often wears outfits selected or provided by Chen Ran, including dresses, stockings, and casual clothes. 5 38
  • Can reshape her body into nonhuman Sea Creature traits when needed. 3

Personality

Heart of the Corrupted Skadi is innocent, literal-minded, and driven by the simple priorities of the Great Swarm: food, survival, and continuance. She does not initially process guilt, shame, or complex human morality in the same way humans do. 2 3

Despite this, she shows empathy toward life. She is distressed when Chen Ran discards a living planet model, regarding its destruction as an annihilation rather than trash disposal. 3 She also cares deeply for the Sea Creatures, referring to them as her children and seeking to bring them somewhere they can eat safely. 38 39

Her growing exposure to Chen Ran and human society makes her increasingly humanlike, especially in her ability to imitate affection, speech, humor, and behavior. However, this learning is not always accompanied by understanding, leading her to draw blunt or mistaken conclusions from what she sees online or observes once. 3 5 29 179

Abilities & Skills

Great Silence

A large-scale silencing phenomenon used in combat and during Sea Creature mobilization.

  • Removes sound from an area, preventing targets from speaking or hearing. 17 95
  • Prevented Amiya from chanting or verbally communicating during their battle. 17
  • The accompanying Sea Creature presence can create a mentally corrosive, sanity-damaging effect. 17
  • Its activation can affect an area on the scale of an entire world. 17

Great Swarm Command

As the Sea Creatures’ mother and deity, she commands the Great Swarm and can direct its movements.

  • Led the swarm during its escape from Terra and ascension through the Starship Pod. 1
  • Called Sea Creatures across Terra through her singing of “Under Tides.” 37
  • Ordered the swarm to retrieve Skadi of another worldline for discussion. 39
  • Coordinated a vast Sea Creature encirclement of the Holy City alongside the Demon King Rabbit. 95

Hive Cluster Mind

Heart of the Corrupted Skadi can connect Sea Creatures through a shared consciousness.

  • Shares information, intent, and perceptions across the Great Swarm. 2 39
  • Spread her newly learned faith in Chen Ran to Sea Creatures beyond the planet model, causing them to imitate prayer. 8
  • Pulled the Sea Creatures of another Terra worldline into the shared network. 39
  • Allows her to issue collective instructions without individually contacting each Sea Creature. 39

Continuance and Sea Creature Adaptation

As a Primordial associated with Continuance, she embodies the Sea Creatures’ capacity to survive, regress, and evolve.

  • Sea Creature evolution naturally avoids degradation and lethal mutations, adapting toward a high ecological niche. 3
  • Under extreme conditions, Sea Creature cells can regress to a basic state and wait for a suitable environment. 3
  • The authority of Continuance can permit Sea Creatures to voluntarily die and regress into embryonic forms. 4
  • Can alter her own anatomy into more useful Sea Creature forms. 3

Mimetic Learning

Heart of the Corrupted Skadi learns by observing with exceptional speed.

  • Imitated Chen Ran’s gestures of goodwill before understanding what a hug meant. 3
  • Learned Chen Ran’s language after being given a phone and internet access. 5
  • Can reproduce actions after seeing them demonstrated once, using both her eyes and body to learn. 179

Size Manipulation

She can alter her physical scale through Sea Creature deity abilities.

  • Became a colossal being capable of crossing from sea to shore and generating hundreds-of-meters-high waves. 37 38
  • Restored herself to a 166 cm, life-sized form after consuming enough energy. 177
  • Cannot sustain enlarged forms indefinitely; energy depletion returns her to a smaller size. 180
  • If she continues evolving, she may ultimately expand into a universe-sized existence. 187

Equipment / Items

  • Phone — Used to learn human language, browse the internet, watch videos, and save recordings; Chen Ran later imposed a three-hour daily usage limit. 5 27
  • Miniature castle — A shared residence provided by Chen Ran for her and Amiya. 21
  • Clothing chest — Contains her customized outfits, which other Skadi manifestations can also wear. 5 53

Relationships

  • Chen Ran — Regards him as “Lord God” despite his denials. He captured her after the Great Swarm’s ascension, feeds and houses her, and remains the central authority she loyally defends. 1 3 17 18
  • The Great Swarm — Their mother, leader, and primary shared consciousness. The Sea Creatures seek her guidance, food, and connection to Chen Ran’s domain. 1 38 39
  • Amiya / Demon King Rabbit — Initially fought Amiya when she attacked Chen Ran; later shared Chen Ran’s miniature castle with her and developed an uneasy companionship. 17 18 21 29
  • Skadi of the normal worldline — Tried to persuade her counterpart to join the Great Swarm after the other Skadi rejected Isabella’s call. 38 39
  • Xi — Xi attempts to teach her basic hygiene and propriety when Heart of the Corrupted Skadi tries to use a boot to transport Sea Creatures. 177
