Hearing Charle's words, Dak, who had still been furious moments ago, froze as if enlightenment had suddenly struck him.
"Right!"
"If someone drank a Sublimation Potion and died, did that necessarily mean there was something wrong with the Sublimation Potion?"
"Couldn't it be that those idiots were simply too stupid and lacked the qualifications to ascend?!"
Charle's suggestion to push the Sublimation Potion's effects to the limit—to hell with stability and safety—made Dak's eyes shine brighter than ever before.
"Yes, yes!"
"That's it!"
"How could I have been so stupid? How had I failed to understand something so obvious all this time?"
"The original Sublimation Potion was born after I saw those grand, incomprehensible forms in my dreams and heard voices containing the magical secrets of the entire universe. That was when inspiration struck."
"In other words, it was a revelation bestowed upon me by the Ascenders."
"But my later alterations were based on wizards' shallow understanding of magic. Using such knowledge to alter the Ascenders' revelation... how laughable!"
Dak muttered madly to himself, even slapping himself hard across the face as tears and snot streamed down in excitement.
As he looked at Charle now, his eyes were filled with gratitude and emotion.
"Charle, my friend, you truly possess a mind as precious as Dumbledore's."
"No, Dumbledore never spoke up for my Sublimation Potion. How could he possibly compare to you? Your foresight surpasses Dumbledore's by more than a hundredfold!"
"Only a genius like you can understand how magnificent my goal is. My friend, once the Sublimation Potion succeeds, you and I shall cast off these weak human bodies and embrace the great source of magic!"
Charle looked solemn, with a trace of honored pride on his face as he said in a deep voice,
"Flesh is weak; ascend beyond it!"
Dak also let out an impassioned, excited cry.
"Flesh is weak; ascend beyond it!"
Then, without wasting another second, he rummaged through the various ingredient cabinets in the basement, preparing to remove every stabilizing element from the Sublimation Potion as Charle had instructed.
Chaotic, frenzied magic would erupt freely within the Sublimation Potion!
"Let me see... Bone Fracture Grass. Yes, we need this. It's the key to shedding physical form."
"Scarlet Death Knell, an herb born with a powerful curse. It will help us shed these cursed human bodies of flesh and blood."
"And this, Blood Crown..."
"This is the main ingredient of the Demon Potion..."
Like a man high on drugs, Dak tossed one bizarre herb after another into the Cauldron.
Finally, he carefully took out a bottle containing a strange, disgusting green slime.
The instant Charle saw it, he felt a wave of nausea rise in his stomach, as though the stench of rotting flesh had seeped through the glass bottle and flooded into his nostrils.
Yet Dak wore an intoxicated expression, as though admiring some priceless treasure.
"And this—the most crucial component of the Sublimation Potion. The traces left behind by those great beings."
"What magnificent magic, what an existence so close to the origin!"
Then he dripped five drops of the green slime into the Cauldron.
In an instant, the originally pitch-black potion inside began to boil violently, its color changing into the same eerie green as the slime.
Only when the brew had thickened into a viscous consistency did Dak carefully pour it into a bottle and hand it to Charle, wearing an anxious expression as though waiting for a teacher to grade his test.
"Come, my friend. Taste the Sublimation Potion I've adjusted."
Looking at the bubbling potion before him, Charle struggled inwardly.
If he had not seen what ingredients had gone into making the thing, he could have gritted his teeth and swallowed it.
But after seeing what Dak had thrown into it, he truly could not suppress his resistance.
Still, after a moment, Charle gritted his teeth and tilted his head back, draining the Sublimation Potion, now pushed to the limit with magic, in a single gulp.
The moment it entered his mouth, a sensation several times more disgusting than the previous bottle surged through him. Charle began dry-heaving again, instinctively clawing at his throat.
The concoction was so revolting that Charle's eyes rolled back, and his consciousness briefly slipped into a faint.
But soon, a series of rapid notifications from the Deep Blue System jolted Charle awake.
Deduction Point +100... Deduction Point +100...
This time, the notifications came even more densely than before!
By the time the notifications gradually slowed and the Sublimation Potion's effects had been completely absorbed, Charle's remaining 4,396 Deduction Points had surged by more than 20,000, breaking through 25,000 in total!
Charle struggled to open his eyes.
Seeing this, the anxious Dak burst into tears of joy and began bawling uncontrollably.
"You're not dead, my friend! You're not dead!"
"You're the first person to survive the original Sublimation Potion!"
"You were right. I should never have doubted the Ascenders' revelation. This is right! This is the true path!"
Charle gave Dak a thumbs-up.
"Dak, you're close to success. You're already heading in the right direction."
"But it's still not enough. While I was unconscious just now, I heard a new revelation from the Ascenders."
"They congratulated me in my mind. They told me it still wasn't potent enough, not enough to let a person complete their ascension."
"Dak, continue. Keep increasing the potency. The Ascenders are watching you. An unprecedentedly great undertaking lies right ahead!"
As if receiving a divine calling, Dak's face was filled with fanatical devotion.
He muttered to himself like a madman.
"More potent. The dosage for shedding physical form must still be insufficient."
"Otherwise, Charle should have already shed his human form. The dosage of these demonic poisons needs to be doubled."
"And the amount of slime left by the Ascenders must be increased as well."
Over the following period, Dak made three bottles of Sublimation Potion in succession, each more potent than the last.
Charle drank every one of the increasingly revolting potions.
With each dose of Sublimation Potion piling up, his Deduction Points skyrocketed past 100,000!
At that moment, Charle roared in his mind.
"With 100,000 Deduction Points, I refuse to believe I can't deduce the Lumos spell to an earth-shattering level."
"I refuse to believe I can't kill one old wizard."
"Deep Blue, deduce it for me! Use all 100,000 points!"
Following Charle's roar in his mind, Deep Blue began operating at an unprecedented intensity for the first time since Charle had arrived in this world.
The 100,000 Deduction Points burned away in an instant.
In their place came an ocean of knowledge, flooding into Charle's mind until his head felt as though it were splitting apart.
It was as though countless Charle's across countless parallel worlds had spent day and night studying the Lumos spell, and all their knowledge and insights were being poured into him!
Several paths for enhancing the Lumos spell's lethality advanced side by side in the Deep Blue System's deductions.
The Laser Spell path could be further deduced, producing lasers with higher frequencies and greater energy levels.
The Flash Spell path could also be further deduced. Light and heat were one; converting the Flash Spell's light into heat could create an area capable of roasting enemies to ashes.
Countless flashes of inspiration erupted, and in the end, the results from several paths combined by chance...
A scorching radiance like the blazing sun flashed through Charle's mind.
Deep Blue's notifications rang out one after another.
The host's Laser Spell has been deduced to a new level... The host's Flash Spell has been deduced to a new level... ... Congratulations to the host for using the Lumos spell as a foundation to deduce a large-scale destructive spell—Eternal Blazing Sun!
