The magic of the Harry Potter world came in endless varieties, but any magic involving the soul was exceptionally extraordinary.
The most famous example was naturally the Horcrux.
By splitting one's soul into fragments and anchoring them to an object, one could achieve immortality so long as the Horcrux remained intact.

Even Soul Extraction, the means by which Dementors fed, struck terror into wizards. Once someone had their soul extracted, there was no saving them—not even Phoenix Tears could do anything.
Charle had not expected that devouring Dementors would grant him materials and abilities related to the soul.
Looking at the Soul Extraction ability available for deduction, Charle could not help feeling tempted.
In the original story, this ability had seemingly never succeeded in the hands of Dementors, mainly because it was too cumbersome and slow to activate.
But if Charle performed several deductions on it, Soul Extraction would surely become far more flexible and swift.
Then, its true power would reveal itself.
After all, Soul Extraction ignored protective spells. Just like the Dementor's Kiss, defensive spells such as the Shield Charm could not block it at all!
This differed from the spell-breaking effects of Charle's Night Edge Spell and Sunless Sun Spell. Soul Extraction directly ignored all magical defenses possessed by
