Tang Wulin's feelings were complicated, however. He was naturally delighted that Na'er had awakened such a powerful Martial Soul and such strong Soul Power.
But he was also a little upset. After half a year of cultivation, his Soul Power had only reached rank four, while Na'er, who was younger than him, had reached rank ten in a single leap.
He had even promised to protect Na'er, yet he wasn't as strong as she was. That left him feeling rather miserable.
At the same time, he was a little afraid, worried that once Na'er went to the Spirit Pagoda, they would rarely be able to spend time together anymore.
Yet he also felt that he couldn't stop Na'er from going somewhere better just because of his own wishes, so he was deeply torn.
Na'er, on the other hand, felt perfectly calm. She had never considered going to the Spirit Pagoda. She wanted to follow a purer path as a Soul Master.
After they returned home, Tang Ziran told Lang Yue about Na'er's Martial Soul awakening and the Spirit Pagoda's invitation.
Lang Yue was surprised too. She had never imagined that the little girl they had taken in would be so gifted.
"She's so talented. We can't hold her back. At the end of the day, Red Mountain Academy is only an ordinary elementary academy. Its teachers are, at most, Soul Elders or Soul Ancestors. They simply can't teach a genius like Na'er. Going somewhere like the Spirit Pagoda, where geniuses gather like clouds, would be best for her."
"I don't want to go," Na'er said.
Hearing that Na'er didn't want to go made Tang Wulin a little happy. He didn't want her to leave either.
Tang Ziran gently coaxed her, "Na'er, be a good girl. The Spirit Pagoda is a wonderful place with the best resources. They'll definitely arrange the best teachers for you, and you'll surely become a powerful Soul Master someday."
Na'er shook her head. "I don't want to go to the Spirit Pagoda. I only want to stay by Wulin's side."
The couple exchanged glances, at a loss.
Lang Yue continued coaxing her. "It's all right. Even if you go to the Spirit Pagoda, you can still come back often to play with Wulin. This will always be your home."
Na'er still shook her head.
Seeing how determined Na'er was, Tang Ziran and Lang Yue stopped trying to persuade her. They didn't want to force her, either. They would find another chance later to talk her around.
"All right, all right, let's stop talking about this and eat."
At the mention of food, Tang Wulin's eyes lit up, and he instantly shook off his sorrow over their impending separation.
That night, Tang Wulin lay in bed and asked Na'er, "Why don't you want to go to the Spirit Pagoda? That's somewhere every Soul Master wants to go."
"If only I could go to the Spirit Pagoda too."
Instead of answering, Na'er asked, "Is the Spirit Pagoda the place you want to go most?"
If Tang Wulin wanted to go to the Spirit Pagoda, Na'er could certainly take him there with her.
Tang Wulin sat straight up. "Of course not! The place I want to go most is Shrek Academy. That's where every Soul Master dreams of going."
Na'er smiled. "Exactly. I want to go to Shrek Academy too. Wulin, let's not go to the Spirit Pagoda. Let's go to Shrek Academy together someday, okay?"
"Sure!" Tang Wulin agreed without hesitation.
For now, he hadn't considered whether he would qualify to attend Shrek Academy.
"Wulin, I don't want to sleep alone. Can I sleep in your bed?"
"Of course you can."
As he spoke, Tang Wulin moved over to make some room.
Na'er walked barefoot to his bedside and lay down in his bed.
Tang Wulin tucked the blanket around her. "Be careful. Don't catch a chill."
Na'er wrapped her arms around Tang Wulin's arm and rested against his shoulder to sleep.
Tang Wulin also shifted a little closer to Na'er.
They both felt wonderfully comfortable nestled beside each other.
What Tang Wulin didn't notice was a golden light and a silver light flowing through their hands.
When they woke the next morning, Tang Wulin had rolled to the edge of the bed and was on the verge of falling off.
Seeing this, Na'er gave him a gentle push.
With a thud, Tang Wulin landed heavily on the floor.
Yet Tang Wulin was completely fine. The fall hadn't hurt him at all.
He opened his eyes and yawned. "Na'er, why'd you kick me out of bed?"
Na'er smiled. "Wulin, hurry and get up. I'm going to school with you today."
"Okay, okay!"
Tang Wulin was delighted to hear that Na'er would be going to school with him.
He had always gone on his own, morning and afternoon. Now, at last, he had someone to go with him.
After washing up, the two sat down at the table and ate breakfast.
Tang Wulin wolfed down his food like a ravenous beast.
"I'm done! I'm off to school!"
"Wulin, wait for me!"
Na'er stuffed the egg into her mouth, took a sip of water, and followed him.
"Na'er, where are you going?" Lang Yue asked.
"I'm going to school with Wulin."
"Then be careful and stay safe."
Now that Na'er was a Soul Master too, there was no need to worry too much.
They had only just opened the door when they saw two people standing outside. One was the Spirit Transmitter from yesterday, while the other seemed to have a more powerful presence.
"Na'er, are your parents home?" the Spirit Transmitter from yesterday asked.
Lang Yue came out and looked at them. "Can I help you?"
The man in front took out a business card and said warmly, "I'm Qian Gu Liuguang, the head of the Spirit Pagoda in Aolai City.
"I'm here to invite little Na'er to join the Spirit Pagoda."
Hearing that he was the head of the local Spirit Pagoda branch, Lang Yue hurriedly wiped her hands on her clothes and accepted the business card.
"Hello, I'm her mother, Lang Yue. I'm truly delighted that the Spirit Pagoda has chosen Na'er."
"In that case, please have Na'er attend our Spirit Pagoda Academy."
The Spirit Pagoda also had its own exclusive academy, dedicated to nurturing its core forces.
"As long as she's willing to attend the Spirit Pagoda Academy, tuition and accommodation will be completely free. She'll also receive a monthly allowance of one thousand Federation Credits. Once she graduates, she can work directly for the Spirit Pagoda."
Hearing such generous terms, Lang Yue wished she could send Na'er to the academy right that instant.
"I would love for her to join the Spirit Pagoda too, but she isn't very willing, and I can't really force her.
Qian Gu Liuguang looked at Na'er with a faint smile and asked, "Little one, would you like to join the Spirit Pagoda? You'll meet plenty of geniuses on your level there, and you can study and play together."
Na'er shook her head and said firmly, "I don't want to join the Spirit Pagoda. Don't come looking for me again."
The smile on Qian Gu Liuguang's face froze. He had never been rejected so firmly before.
Any other child would have jumped for joy upon learning that they could enter the Spirit Pagoda. This was his first time encountering someone like Na'er.
"Child, do you understand what kind of place the Spirit Pagoda is? As long as you're willing to join, I can take you as my disciple and teach you personally. I'm a Soul—"
"Are you a Limit Douluo?" Na'er cut in before he could finish.
The words Qian Gu Liuguang had yet to say suddenly caught in his mouth, and he couldn't get them out.
A Limit Douluo? Of course he wasn't.
If he were, how could he still be a branch head in a tiny place like Aolai City? He would have gone to the Spirit Pagoda Headquarters to become its head long ago.
