On Blue Moon Island, Suigetsu and Jugo finally woke up. Sasuke had brought them back after placing them under genjutsu during his trip to Sunagakure.
The genjutsu Sasuke had cast on them contained memories of his previous life.
Although these were also replays of his previous life's memories, the genjutsu Sasuke used on Suigetsu and Jugo was more detailed and immersive than the one he had used on Kabuto.

The two left the hut.
A pale blue moon hung overhead, and the wind stirred in the deep of night.
"Did he just dump us on this deserted island and forget about us?" Suigetsu asked.
"This place makes me feel calmer than I've ever felt before," Jugo said.
"How long were we asleep?" Suigetsu asked. "We cut off contact with the Akatsuki, and those guys never came looking for us?"
"Maybe we don't really matter to the Akatsuki," Jugo said. "Besides, didn't we already hunt down a tailed beast?"
