In the Land of Lightning, Obito, who believed he had captured the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki, was heading toward Amegakure with Zetsu and Kisame.
With Killer B's body slung over his shoulder, Kisame looked casually at Obito and Zetsu.
"Konoha's strength is far beyond Kumogakure's. Under Uchiha Itachi's leadership, even without counting rising stars like Sasuke and Naruto, the Uchiha Clan alone would be difficult to deal with."
Zetsu, who handled intelligence gathering, recalled the information on Konoha's missions over the past few years. Even with Madara's Rinnegan, he still did not think Pain had much chance of winning.
"The Uchiha Clan? Are they that strong? Why do I feel like you two pay special attention to them? It's not as if I haven't killed members of that clan before. They're certainly good compared to ordinary ninja, but they shouldn't warrant this much concern."
Madara Uchiha, whose identity Obito claimed, was a member of the Uchiha Clan. Kisame had originally thought Obito was wary of Konoha because he did not want to attack his own clan, but now it seemed he was genuinely afraid of them.
"If the Uchiha Clan only had the Three-Tomoe Sharingan, they wouldn't pose much of a threat. But if their eyes evolved into the Mangekyō Sharingan, we'd have a serious problem."
Within the Akatsuki, Obito had never trusted Nagato or Konan. Kisame was already his last remaining subordinate.
Obito did not want Kisame to die needlessly, so it was time to share some information with him.
"Once any Uchiha acquires the Mangekyō Sharingan, they gain a new ability. That ability varies from person to person. Without enough information, even you could fall to someone who had only just awakened it."
