Background / History

Xiao Wu enters Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy as the only girl in Dormitory Seven. She defeats Tang San in their opening spar, accepts the title of dormitory boss, and quickly establishes herself as an energetic presence among the work-study students 5.

She becomes especially close to Cheng Xiao. Initially, she seeks his attention through pranks and complaints when he ignores her, but she gradually accompanies his training, holds hands with him, and returns with him to Cheng Family Village during school breaks 7 22 30.

While accompanying Cheng Xiao to the Star Dou Great Forest, Xiao Wu's true identity becomes known: she is a Soul Beast transformed into a human. The forest emperors Da Ming and Er Ming recognize her as their elder sister and initially attack Cheng Xiao, but Xiao Wu protects him and insists that she trusts him 31 32. Da Ming and Er Ming later entrust Cheng Xiao with her protection in human society, where powerful Soul Masters could perceive her true nature 34.

After graduating from Nuoding Academy, Xiao Wu agrees to cultivate in the Star Dou Great Forest for her safety, though she is distressed by the prospect of separating from Cheng Xiao 42 43. She later appears at Shrek Academy, where her reunion with Cheng Xiao overwhelms her to the point that she immediately embraces him in tears 74.

Tang Hao eventually identifies Xiao Wu as a transformed Soul Beast and holds her captive because of the value of her Soul Ring and Soul Bone. Xiao Wu confronts him directly, refusing to surrender her will to him despite the disparity in strength 165 166. Cheng Xiao later brings her back safely, and she remains involved in the conflict surrounding the Soul Master Tournament 235 236.

During the later crisis in the Star Dou Great Forest, Da Ming and Er Ming sacrifice themselves for Xiao Wu. Their final gift greatly elevates her cultivation and leaves her fully human 264.
