Following Han Bing, Liu Feng arrived at the community camp's main hall.
"Feng, we've finished counting everyone. Apart from the man who swore to defend the supplies to the death and got shot, everyone's here."
At that, Liu Feng looked in the direction Han Bing pointed. There were three men and two women in total.
Both women were dressed provocatively. Liu Feng didn't even have to think about how they had managed to survive this long.
The three men, however, were a stark contrast to them. Their clothes were ragged, and their hands, faces, and clothing were covered in black grease. At first glance, they could have passed for African refugees.
"Tell me, what were your main duties here?" Liu Feng asked with a smile, crouching in front of them.
The three men exchanged glances. In the end, the one in the middle spoke up.
"F-Feng, my name is Sun Liang. I don't have any great skills, and I always held everyone back on missions outside. So Boss Yu assigned me here to repair vehicles."
"Vehicle repairs?" Liu Feng sounded slightly surprised, but his expression remained unchanged. He nodded, then turned his gaze to the older man on the left. "And you?"
"I... I'm... well..."
Seeing his brother too nervous to get the words out, the man on the far right suddenly spoke for him.
"Feng, I'm Feng Wen, and my older brother is Feng Wu. We were both engineers before Yu Guangqi rescued us in the apocalypse. So, to repay him—or just to stay alive for the time being—we stayed and drew up whatever blueprints he wanted."
"Blueprints?" Liu Feng's brows drew together slightly as he asked in puzzlement, "Could you explain in more detail?"
"A-actually, it wasn't anything much. Just some everyday necessities," Feng Wu stammered.
Watching Feng Wu's constantly darting eyes, Liu Feng knew he was hiding something.
"Feng Wen, I want you to tell me exactly what these everyday necessities were. Leave anything out, and I'll chop off your brother's hand."
At those words, Feng Wu's expression tightened, and his heart began pounding.
"Feng, you don't need to threaten me. I'll tell you anyway." Feng Wen stood and pointed at the guns Han Bing had confiscated. "My brother and I designed this rifle based on the AK-47. It isn't as powerful, but we reduced the recoil considerably, making it easier for beginners to use."
Liu Feng followed Feng Wen's finger. Behind Han Bing stood more than twenty finely crafted rifles. He walked over and grabbed one.
Bang!
As the deafening report echoed through the hall, the bullet punched straight through a tree as thick as an arm outside the door.
"Not bad at all!"
Liu Feng couldn't help marveling at the exquisite craftsmanship.
"Feng Wen, besides gun blueprints, did you provide Yu Guangqi with anything else?"
Feng Wen looked steadily at Liu Feng. "There were also blueprints for some larger pieces of equipment, but we never managed to finish them because resources were scarce."
Hearing that, Liu Feng's lips curled into a satisfied smile.
"Feng Wen, let me ask you this. If I gave you a Rocket Launcher right now, could you draw up its blueprints?"
Feng Wen turned to look at his brother. Only after seeing him nod did he reply, "Feng, as long as you have enough materials, blueprints would be no problem. Even if you wanted me to make a copy, I could do it."
"Excellent!"
Liu Feng beamed, filled with indescribable delight.
He had already been lucky enough to recruit Uncle Ge, a medical all-rounder. Now he had gained the Feng brothers, two outstanding engineers. In this apocalypse, Liu Feng's team was becoming increasingly well-rounded.
Just then, Han Bing leaned over and whispered in Liu Feng's ear, "Feng, it's already dark. Looks like we won't be able to get back."
Liu Feng smiled and waved a hand. "It's fine. This place is pretty good anyway. We'll spend the night here!"
"But Feng, back at the residential camp..."
"Han Bing, it'll be fine. I've already told Uncle Ge everything he needs to watch out for. Besides, I left him something exceptionally formidable. I guarantee nothing will happen!"
Although Han Bing still felt uneasy, Liu Feng's confident expression finally put him at ease.
Meanwhile, at the Residential Camp several kilometers away.
As the only man left at the Residential Camp, Uncle Ge stood imposingly on the platform with a cleaver in hand. A breeze swept past, stirring the last two hairs on his head. From a distance, it actually lent him something of a wandering hero's air.
Just then, a piercing cry suddenly rang out from the street outside the Residential Camp.
Uncle Ge squinted into the dim light. But the street was pitch-black, and he couldn't see anything.
Bang!
With the gunshot, a crimson stain suddenly spread across Uncle Ge's chest, gradually blossoming into a large plum blossom, vivid yet hopeless.
Uncle Ge felt no pain in his chest. He merely watched the cleaver bestowed upon him clatter to the ground. His vision suddenly went black, and he collapsed limply.
Through the haze, Uncle Ge finally saw the person standing at the community camp's entrance.
"Long... Long Tai!"
While unconscious, Uncle Ge faintly heard women laughing and talking nearby. As their voices grew louder, he mustered every last bit of strength and finally opened his eyes again.
A dazzling white light flashed before him, and in his daze, Uncle Ge thought he had reached heaven.
"Where am I? Heaven?"
While Uncle Ge was still dazed, someone suddenly stomped hard on his foot. The tearing pain in his chest jolted him awake.
"Old Ge, I never thought you'd be living even better after I left."
Uncle Ge looked toward the voice, only to find his view blocked by Long Tai's ugly, acne-covered face. Long Tai sat with his legs crossed, enjoying a peeled banana.
"T-Tai, why have you come back?"
"What, shouldn't I come back?" Long Tai spread his hands, looking innocent. "No, that's not right. I'm the owner here. Why shouldn't I come back?"
Hearing that, Uncle Ge realized he had said the wrong thing and didn't dare speak again.
"Oh, I get it. Old Ge must have other ideas now. Tell me honestly, what did that bullshit Gene Warrior give you to make you take his side like this?"
Seeing Uncle Ge lower his head without a word, the already furious Long Tai completely lost his temper.
"Liu Feng, I've already told my aunt's husband about this. Just fucking wait until you're stuffed in a sack and fed to the zombies!"
