"Heh heh heh..."
"Roar! Roar! Roar..."
Outside the community camp, hundreds upon thousands of zombies crowded around the gates. Their bloody maws gaped open, and terrifying growls rumbled from their throats.
As more and more zombies pressed toward the camp gates, they even toppled the two parasol trees planted beside the entrance, each as thick as a thigh. Yellowing leaves scattered across the ground.
The people on the camp's raised platform frowned at the hideous zombies below, their bodies reeking of blood and decay.
"Uncle Wang, if help doesn't get here soon, we really won't be able to hold out!"
"Uncle Wang, I told you that guy couldn't be trusted. If Long Tai were still here, he'd never abandon us!"
"Ah, this is a zombie horde. Even if they come, what difference will it make? Can a few dozen people take on thousands upon thousands of zombies?"
Listening to the dispirited voices around him, Wang Defa felt a tangled mix of emotions. Naturally, he hoped Liu Feng would come and save them from this desperate situation.
But looking at it another way, if Wang Defa were in Liu Feng's position, he probably wouldn't come to their aid either. After all, it was a matter of weighing the costs and benefits.
Squelch!
Wang Defa yanked his spear out of a zombie's skull. Dark green fluid sprayed out, and the zombie's legs buckled as it collapsed to the ground.
But the moment the zombie in front fell, another stepped up from behind it.
Wang Defa gripped his spear tightly and looked up at the dense sea of bodies before him. This zombie horde was far larger than he had imagined.
For a moment, the aging Wang Defa felt the pressure bearing down on him.
"Am I really going to meet my end here today?"
Just as Wang Defa was about to lose all hope, a deafening explosion erupted from the nearby high ground. Looking toward the sound, he saw a young man in his twenties waving at them nonstop.
"Liu Feng!" Wang Defa froze for a moment, a spark of hope rekindling in his heart. "You brat, you finally made it!"
Standing alone on the high ground, Liu Feng frowned slightly at the overwhelming mass of zombies charging toward him.
"Holy shit, I didn't realize I was so charming. Look at all these zombies chasing me! Too bad I'm not that easy to catch!"
With a sweep of his hand, nearly 200,000 Iron-toothed Insects appeared before him.
At Liu Feng's command, nearly half the Iron-toothed Insects assembled into a silver flying carpet in midair. He leaped lightly onto it.
By then, the zombie horde had reached Liu Feng. They opened their mouths and roared incessantly, desperate to devour him. Unfortunately for them, they were too short to reach him as he hovered in the air.
Liu Feng's thin lips curled into a mocking smile.
"Parasitic Insects, Exploding Insects, hurry up and show them what real power looks like!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the vast insect army launched its attack on the zombies.
Under Liu Feng's control, nearly 100,000 Parasitic Insects quickly infested a portion of the zombies. At his command, the controlled zombies formed a huge ring. The zombies outside couldn't get in, and those inside couldn't get out.
Once everything was ready, the Exploding Insects began their performance.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
As explosions thundered through the sky, swaths of zombies were blasted into minced flesh.
At last, the system notifications sounded.
[Ding! Congratulations on successfully killing an "Ordinary Zombie." EXP +10] [Ding! Congratulations on successfully killing a "Common Zombie." EXP +20] [Ding! Congratulations on successfully killing a "Speed-Type Ordinary Zombie." EXP +20]
Listening to the system, Liu Feng fell into thought.
Judging by the current situation, zombies did indeed fall into different categories. So far, strength-type, speed-type, and Mental Control Type zombies had appeared. Quite a few had also mutated, gradually evolving to possess human intelligence.
Regardless, Liu Feng's plan to encircle the zombies and bomb them was practically flawless.
In the blink of an eye, his experience gain was already approaching a thousand. If this continued, wouldn't he soon be able to unlock a new insect species?
With that thought, Liu Feng split off another portion of his Iron-toothed Insects and sent them into the zombie slaughter.
Meanwhile, at the community camp's gates.
The commotion Liu Feng caused had drawn away most of the zombies. Fatty and his group easily finished off the few remaining ones that had lost their bearings and were wandering around.
The jeeps pulled up right outside the community camp's gates.
"Uncle Wang, hurry and get everyone into the vehicles! If the zombie horde catches on, we'll be in serious trouble!"
Hearing Fatty's urging, Wang Defa didn't dare waste a moment. Leaving the survival supplies in the warehouse behind, he called over everyone in the camp, young and old, men and women, and hurried them into the jeeps.
Twenty or thirty people squeezed into four jeeps. It was cramped, but getting out alive was already a win.
Vroom!
Fatty slammed his foot on the accelerator, and the jeep surged forward. A few zombies heard the noise and tried to block them, only to be smashed into bloody pulp by the modified vehicle.
Finally, once all the vehicles had broken through the encirclement, Fatty drove around to the high ground. Looking at Liu Feng two or three hundred meters away, he shouted urgently, "Brother Feng, we've got everyone! Get ready to retreat!"
Hearing the shout, Liu Feng turned his head and glanced at Fatty.
He knew there wasn't a single seat left for him in the vehicles. Besides, if he headed toward them now, these thousands of zombies would follow him like mad. The entire convoy would be plunged back into danger.
So no matter what, Liu Feng couldn't retreat with the others right now.
Liu Feng looked down at the savage zombies beneath his feet, then at Fatty waving to him nearby. He gritted his teeth and made up his mind.
"Fatty, don't worry about me. Head back to the Residential Camp first, and tell Han Bing to prepare for the zombie horde's attack."
"Brother Feng, what about you?"
"Go on ahead. I have my own way of getting out."
"But..."
"Quit dragging your feet! Follow orders and retreat! If you put the whole convoy in danger, it won't be worth it!"
"I..."
Caught off guard by Liu Feng's harsh reprimand, Fatty felt a sudden ache in his heart. Tears nearly spilled from his eyes despite himself.
