But now, as the Pokémon grew stronger and entered the Elite Class one after another, those same moves could accomplish far more.
Sand Tomb engulfed the entire battlefield in yellow sand, which spun continuously over the water.
"Diancie, Sandstorm!" Seeing the sand already rising, Xiao Ran decided to take it a step further and unleashed a sandstorm.
Yellow sand blotted out the sky. Those outside could no longer make out what was happening on the battlefield. All they could see was swirling sand, with not a single Pokémon in sight.
"Kingler!" The Pokémon Trainer from Ocean Pokémon University cried out, staring anxiously into the arena.
With such an enormous Sandstorm and Sand Tomb, she genuinely feared her Pokémon would be buried alive.
"That's enough!" Only after a while did Xiao Ran finally speak.
The sand slowly settled, and everyone's view gradually cleared. The pool was now gone from the battlefield.
The entire battlefield was perfectly flat, as though it had always been level ground.
"Kingler!" The opposing Pokémon Trainer shouted. Only Diancie stood gracefully on the field, with nothing else in sight.
"Don't worry!" Xiao Ran reassured her. A patch of ground slowly split open, and an unconscious Kingler was brought to the surface.
Seeing that Kingler had merely fainted, the Pokémon Trainer from Ocean Pokémon University breathed a small sigh of relief. After thanking him, she took Kingler to the Medical Team.
"That's incredible! What a powerful Sandstorm!" Exclamations lingered in both the spectator stands and the competitors' seating area.
It wasn't that Diancie's Sandstorm was particularly powerful. Most Elite Class Pokémon, and even Entry Class Pokémon, could produce a sandstorm of that size.
But being able to
