Lightning flashed and thunder roared overhead, but everyone noticed that Alcremie's Max Move had changed. Instead of the pink mass of energy that had descended with adorable stars, rings of dazzling, multicolored energy now swept toward Dynamax Ampharos.
Boom! The roar of the Max Move mingled with the crackling thunder of Thunderbolt, deafening the spectators. Both Pokémon were engulfed in the light of their attacks, making it impossible to see what was happening.
Through their resonance, however, Xiao Ran could still sense that Alcremie had taken considerable damage from Thunderbolt but could endure it. Ampharos, on the other hand, could not.
Two consecutive G-Max Finales, followed by a Psychic-type Max Move, had scattered all of its otherwise stable Dynamax energy, forcing it out of its Dynamax state completely. Despite taking damage, Alcremie continued to hold firmly onto its Dynamax form.
"That's impossible! Why can your Dynamax last so long?" the opposing Pokémon Trainer shouted in disbelief. Alcremie's Dynamax duration had far exceeded his expectations.
"Heh! I told you the stolen Dynamax research was incomplete. You really shouldn't experiment with it so recklessly!" Xiao Ran sneered, while mentally ordering Alcremie to attack again. He could sense that its Dynamax was nearly at its limit, too.
This time, it did not use another Max Move, only an ordinary Draining Kiss. Alcremie no longer had enough Dynamax energy to sustain another Max Move; attempting one would leave its body in an extremely unstable state.
But even an ordinary Draining Kiss was enough to drain the last of Ampharos's vitality.
Two G-Max Moves and one Max Move were more than it could withstand, even as a Dragon-type Pokémon with Mid Gym Leader Class strength.
Draining Kiss allowed Alcremie to recover a little of the damage inflicted by Thunderbolt before it finally reverted from its
