"Sure, no problem. I can send you a map later with the exact location!" the burly man said with a smile, then took out his payment QR code.
"That would be great. But you've had this Red Crystal for quite a while, haven't you? When did you go there?" Xiao Ran asked as he paid.
"Oh, that? Seven or eight years ago, I think. A few friends and I were exploring a Wilderness Area near Xi'an when we stumbled into the place."
"Luckily, the Pokémon inside were all Ground-types, and they were fairly gentle. We explored for a long time without running into any danger. They barely even paid attention when we dug up a bunch of diamonds."
"But once we dug up this Red Crystal, a whole swarm of diamond-like Pokémon suddenly appeared throughout the Magma Cave and chased us like crazy. We almost didn't make it back."
"Say, young man, do you know what this thing is used for?"
As he spoke, the burly man suddenly asked out of curiosity. From the way Xiao Ran acted, he didn't seem to be buying it merely for his collection.
Xiao Ran didn't answer his question. Instead, he took out his Pokédex, pulled up a picture of a Pokémon, and held it out to the man.
"Sir, did the Pokémon that chased you look like this?"
Sure enough, the burly man's eyes widened the moment he saw the Pokémon.
"Yes, yes, that's it! There were so many of them back then, packed together everywhere! What kind of Pokémon is it? Why isn't it in my Pokédex?"
"The Pokédex currently only records a little over three hundred Pokémon. This one's number comes much later, so it won't be in yours."
Xiao Ran spoke calmly, but still gave the burly man an explanation.
