Shen Zeyu led Lu Yu back to where they had been and knocked on the door. A man who looked to be in his fifties opened it and greeted them warmly. "You're the ones here to help, right? Come in, come in."

Shen Zeyu and Lu Yu followed the older man inside, unsure why he was so excited.

As soon as they entered, the older man fetched a stool for each of them. "Here, sit down, sit down."

"Sir, what do you need us to help with?"

The older man sat down beside them and took out his phone. "Could you teach me how to use this phone? An old fellow like me doesn't know how."

Technology was advancing faster and faster these days, and phones were being replaced just as quickly. Older people like them really struggled to learn how to use them.

"Sir, what would you like to learn first?" Shen Zeyu asked patiently.

"I want to learn that calling thing where you can see the other person. And that thing where you can know what's happening everywhere without going outside. Whenever my son and granddaughter look at it, they're always smiling and having such a good time."

A nervous look appeared on the older man's face. "Son, don't worry. I'm sure I can learn quickly." He was afraid Shen Zeyu would refuse to teach him.

Shen Zeyu understood that the older man wanted to learn about video calls and apps like Kuaishou and Douyin. He studied the man's face, which was etched with the marks of time.

After thinking for a moment, Shen Zeyu led Lu Yu aside. The older man seemed to think he would not teach him after all and lowered his head slightly.

"Yuyu, do you know what Grandpa wanted to do just now?"

"Yes. Grandpa wants to learn how to make voice and video calls on WeChat, and how to watch Kuaishou and Douyin."

"Then do you know how to do all that, Yuyu?"

"I do," Lu Yu said.

"Then could you teach Grandpa, Yuyu? He must miss his children too."

"Okay! I'll definitely teach Grandpa how to do it," Lu Yu said proudly.

"Grandpa is getting older, so he might be a little slower with some things. You need to be patient, Yuyu."

"Don't worry, Daddy. I will."

"Then let's go. You can teach Grandpa first, and once you've taught him, I'll teach him some other things," Shen Zeyu said gently.

Lu Yu ran excitedly over to the older man and said sweetly, "Grandpa, I know how to do everything you mentioned. Let me teach you. Once I'm done, my daddy will teach you more."

The older man brightened at once. "All right. Thank you, little one." With that, he took out his phone.

Lu Yu took it and said, "Grandpa, look. First you tap this, then this..."

Shen Zeyu watched the two of them with a tender expression.

{"Sob, sob, my grandpa is the same. He has no idea how to use any of this stuff."}

{"Sometimes even I get impatient teaching them."}

{"The next time I go home, I'm definitely going to teach my grandparents how to use it."}

{"I miss my grandparents."}

While everything was peaceful and pleasant here, heaven had not answered Ge Qing's prayers over on the other side.

Ge Qing was still struggling with feeding the pigs. On the bright side, the two of them had finally muddled through mixing the flour.

They were now squatting in front of the pigpen, trying to work out the best way to feed them. The pigs inside were already squealing, impatient for their food and urging the two people in front of them to hurry up.

"How about we just carry it inside?" Ge Zhou suggested.

Ge Qing gave it some serious thought, decided that would work, then picked up the basin and opened the gate.

The two pigs charged over at the sight of the food, startling Ge Qing into setting the basin down immediately.

When Ge Zhou saw his older brother back out, he quickly reminded him, "Ge Qing, shut the gate! The pigs will get out!"

Ge Qing snapped out of it and hurriedly shut the gate, letting out a breath. "Good thing you reminded me. If the pigs got out, getting them back in probably wouldn't be so easy."

He had seen people chasing escaped pigs all over the streets before. Just thinking about it was terrifying.

Once the pigs had finished eating, Ge Qing carefully and quickly retrieved the basin.

"Finally done." They both breathed a sigh of relief.

Then Ge Qing looked at Ge Zhou and burst out laughing. Flour was smeared here and there across Ge Zhou's face, making him look ridiculous.

"What is it?" Ge Zhou asked his laughing brother.

"Nothing, nothing. I just remembered something funny." It was rare to see Ge Zhou looking like this, so of course he wanted to enjoy it a little longer.

"Okay." Ge Zhou believed him. After all, his brother had always been like this.

The sun slowly began to set. Shen Zeyu glanced at it and figured it was nearly time to cook dinner.

He sent a message to their little group chat saying they could start cooking soon.

They had created the group over lunch so they could easily notify one another whenever something came up.

The others took out their phones, checked the message, and all acknowledged it.

They were not the only ones who knew. The villagers who had lived here for years also knew it was time to cook dinner.

"Oh, thank you so much. My grandson had such a wonderful time today."

The elderly woman continued, "I'm very happy too, and I know what you need."

She slowly walked into the kitchen and came back out carrying some Chinese cabbage, tomatoes, and eggplants.

"Take these vegetables with you. Thank you so much for today," she said again.

"Oh, Grandma, that's too much. A little less would be plenty."

"It's not too much, not at all. We have more at home. Take them."

Unable to turn her down, Zi Yiting took out some money, intending to leave some for the elderly woman.

The elderly woman pretended to be angry. "If you give me money, I won't give you any of this."

"Well... thank you, Grandma."

The elderly woman was pleased. That was more like it.

Zi Yiting called to Feifei in the distance. "Feifei, it's time to go."

"Okay, Mom."

"Are you leaving?" the little boy asked, sounding a little disappointed. He had really enjoyed himself today.

Feifei nodded. "If we're not busy tomorrow morning, come find us. We have three other kids with us too."

"Oh, can I really? What if they don't like me?"

"They will," Feifei said confidently. "They'll like you too."

The little boy gave a goofy grin. "Then I'll come play with you tomorrow if I have time."

"Okay!"

Zi Yiting waited until the two children had said their goodbyes before taking Feifei's hand and leaving.

The same thing happened at the other three homes. None of the villagers accepted any money.

Chen Ran had spent the day chopping firewood and telling the older man all sorts of things about the outside world. The man gave him some potatoes and sausages stuffed with wood ear mushrooms and lean meat, which were delicious.

Shen Zeyu and Lu Yu successfully taught the older man how to use his phone.

"You're filming a show. How can I watch you and cheer you on?" "Cheer you on" was an expression the older man had just learned.

Shen Zeyu patiently taught him how to search for their show.

Before they left, the older man gave them cured pork, some tofu, and leafy greens.

Shen Zeyu could not turn him down either.

Ge Zhou received a chicken and several eggs. He really felt it was far too generous a gift, but he could not win against their hosts' insistence.

These were all foods the villagers considered something of a treat, yet not a single household accepted any money, leaving everyone feeling rather embarrassed.

Ge Zhou and Ge Qing were the last to return. Hearing them, the others looked outside.

They saw Ge Zhou walking in front, with Ge Qing behind him, apologizing abjectly. Truly, utterly abjectly.
