Background / History

Stelle’s earliest depicted state is unconscious on Herta Space Station, where Kafka and Silver Wolf encounter Zhang Xiu after she receives a Stellaron. Once the Stellaron Hunters leave, March 7th revives her with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Stelle wakes without memories and takes up a baseball bat before accompanying March and Zhang through the station 2 3.

During the escape, Stelle shields March from the Doomsday Beast’s final attack. The resulting Stellaron awakening draws Nanook’s attention, but Welt intervenes before her transformation can continue 3.

Stelle subsequently boards the Astral Express. Yaoshi’s presence keeps Herta occupied, preventing Herta from asking Stelle to remain at the station for research. Initially unfamiliar with Aeons, Stelle learns about Paths from Himeko before the crew’s first planetary expedition 4 5.

Personality

Stelle is straightforward and initially trusting. She introduces herself honestly to Sampo without recognizing that he might be dangerous, and her confidence in Zhang Xiu leads her to accept his claim that Kafka is her mother. Nevertheless, she can question suspicious circumstances: Kafka’s immediate invitation to Returnstar Port makes her wonder whether an ambush awaits 5 24 33.

Her loyalty is backed by action. She takes a destructive beam meant for March, refuses to let Zhang handle every battle alone, and declares that she will oppose the world rather than abandon her friends. She also favors attempting to persuade Svarog before resorting to violence 3 12 15 28.

Stelle readily joins the crew’s absurd humor, from repeating March’s observations to participating in Zhang’s theatrical introductions. She poses defiantly when told to follow rules, yet also shows practical insight by recognizing that Jing Yuan intends to use the Express crew as bait for the Stellaron Hunters 5 8 30 41.

Her missing memories remain a personal concern. When she finally speaks privately with Kafka, she regards her as the one person she can confide in about her identity and past 44.
