Chapter 36: The Fallen Angel's objective?
Dusk!
Private Kuo Academy!
"Damn it, why do I have to wear something this embarrassing?"
Irina blushed furiously, kneading the hem of her Maid outfit with both hands. "There are so many people here. This is too embarrassing."
"I'm just making you keep your promise. What's wrong with a Maid wearing a Maid outfit?"
"Are you sure this is a Maid outfit?"
Irina stiffened, then finally burst out, "Underneath this outfit..."
Halfway through, she squeezed her legs together, feeling a chilly draft.
"You can't blame me for that. This belongs to one of my servants."
Despite saying that, Lin Luo silently gave Utaha Kasumigaoka a thumbs-up.
Just what I'd expect from you. This battle outfit really packs a punch.
"Is there something wrong with the outfit?"
Xenovia blinked. "I think it's pretty good. It's much more comfortable than what I usually wear."
"Now you know quality when you see it."
Lin Luo looked at her approvingly. "I'll have Utaha give you a few more later."
Irina's eyelid twitched.
No!
I can't let Xenovia stay around this Devil with a head full of dirty thoughts.
Otherwise, he'll devour her sooner or later.
Outside the old school building.
Koneko Toujou arrived after classes ended.
Her eyes lit up when she saw Lin Luo, but after taking only a few steps, she spotted Xenovia and Irina.
She stared!
Her gaze gradually sharpened.
The auras of these two women made her deeply uncomfortable.
Seeing this, Lin Luo immediately explained, "Don't be so hostile. They're here to discuss something with Rias."
"Oh!"
Koneko Toujou nodded, but her gaze kept sweeping over Xenovia and Irina, and her thoughts gradually wandered off track.
Damn it!
Why is it every single one of them?
Every one of their figures is practically cheating.
Instinctively, Koneko Toujou looked down at herself and sank into a long silence.
A showdown!
Another crushing defeat.
Noticing what Koneko Toujou was doing, Lin Luo smiled and patted her head. "Don't worry, Koneko. You'll grow too."
Koneko Toujou instantly flushed and hurriedly pulled away. "You perverted Devil! It's none of your business."
"Koneko, you've really misunderstood me."
Lin Luo looked wounded. "That was my sincerest wish for you."
As the two talked,
they entered the Occult Research Club's clubroom.
"Are these the two Church warriors you mentioned?"
Rias, who had already spoken with him over the phone, showed no surprise at the sight of Irina and Xenovia. Instead, she smiled. "Please, take a seat."
Akeno Himejima served black tea at just the right moment. "Please enjoy."
"Thank you!" ×2
Irina sipped her tea and smoothed down her skirt. "Although we've entered your territory without permission, the Church has no intention of making an enemy of you."
Rias nodded, signaling for her to continue.
"In fact, we had no choice but to come here."
Irina said helplessly, "The holy swords held by our Church were stolen by Kokabiel, one of the Fallen Angels' leaders."
"Even if he stole them, what does that have to do with my territory?"
"Because we suspect he's currently in this town."
"What did you say?"
Rias finally lost her composure.
Koneko Toujou and Akeno Himejima, who had been sitting quietly nearby, also showed a change in expression.
The Fallen Angels' leaders were all truly powerful figures.
Nearly all of them had fought in the ancient war among the gods and survived encounters with the Devil Kings.
Someone of that stature was actually here in Kuoh Town.
Meanwhile, Lin Luo sat nearby, deep in thought.
This seems...
A little familiar.
But the details are different.
At that thought, he smiled helplessly.
In this world, it would have been stranger if everything were exactly the same.
"So you came here to recover the holy swords."
After considering it for a moment, Rias said, "And you approached me to give me advance notice and ask that we Devils stay out of it?"
"Exactly!"
Xenovia nodded. "We have no intention of starting a conflict between the Church and the Devils."
"Is that why you were spying on me?"
Lin Luo spoke up from the side. "That doesn't seem like much of a justification, though."
"I told you, we were observing you."
Irina said indignantly, "Because you're Rias Gremory's fiancé and have a major influence on her, of course we had to investigate what kind of person you are."
"Oh? And what was your conclusion?"
"You're nothing but a lecherous Devil."
"Well, thank you for the compliment."
"That wasn't a compliment!"
Irina glared at Lin Luo, cheeks puffed out in anger, before composing herself and turning to Rias. "Lady Rias, may we hear your answer?"
"I certainly have no intention of getting involved in your dispute with the Fallen Angels."
Rias answered without hesitation. "But please exercise restraint and avoid causing any harm to my territory."
Only someone out of their mind would get involved in something that offered no benefit whatsoever.
"Of course. The Church will take care to avoid that."
Irina and Xenovia nodded to Rias.
With their business concluded, the two soon said their goodbyes and left.
After all, they were Church warriors.
Partly to keep an eye on them and partly to see them out, Akeno Himejima and Koneko Toujou followed them.
"Lin Luo, what's the story behind those Maid outfits they're wearing?"
Watching them leave, Rias asked suspiciously, "Lin Luo, you're not setting your sights on those two, are you?"
"Why shouldn't I?"
Lin Luo said, "They're both battle-hardened warriors. They'd make excellent servants."
"That's true, but their faith must be very strong."
"Asia's faith used to be very strong too."
Rias's eyelid twitched.
Right. I forgot about that.
Remembering the girl praying nearby that night, Rias blushed.
That night!
It was absolutely wild!
She had been drunk too, actually doing something like that.
"What is it? What are you thinking about?"
Lin Luo rose from his seat and walked over to Rias.
Coming back to her senses, Rias smiled graciously. "Nothing. I just hope you'll be a little careful. I don't want to hear my brother nagging."
"Don't worry. I won't put you in a difficult position."
Lin Luo drew Rias into his arms and stroked her crimson hair. "But sometimes, just because we don't want something to happen doesn't mean others won't do it."
"What do you mean?"
Rias froze for a moment.
"A Fallen Angel leader couldn't possibly be unaware that this is the Gremory Family's territory, yet he still came here."
Lin Luo sneered. "What do you think he's planning?"
"Could he be trying to start a war between the three factions?"
"Very likely. Tell Sona to be careful too."
"I will."
Lin Luo stood up, cupped Rias's lovely face in both hands, and smiled. "How are you going to thank me for such an important warning?"
"...What mischief are you plotting now?"
Chapter 37: Kurome: I want to become a Devil
[Origin +3]
"I'm getting fewer and fewer origin points."
Inside the palace in the Healing World, Lin Luo closed the book in front of him and shook his head slightly.
Although he could keep milking this world for resources indefinitely,
the development of supernatural knowledge also took time.
"Don't worry, Master. We'll soon conquer those remote countries. There should be something to gain from them."
Esdeath stepped forward, her ice-blue eyes fixed on Lin Luo.
"Thank you for your hard work!"
Lin Luo stroked her hair and smiled. "What would you like as a reward?"
Before you continue
