By now, Li Fuchan's eyes had changed completely. His pupils, once stained a dusky gray by "contrary thunder," had shed every trace of their heavy deathly aura and turned a deep, shadowy purple.
Deep within that purple radiance, silvery streams of light writhed like lightning serpents, flickering in and out of sight.
At the center of his brow, a pupil-less vertical eye suddenly split the flesh and opened. No gentle illuminating light gathered within it anymore—only lightning of the utmost righteousness and ferocity.
That lightning was not dazzling, yet no one dared look directly at it, as though one glance too many would wrench out their soul and grind it to dust.
Just then, Quan Yong abruptly raised his head and saw that the Azure Rain filling the room had stopped.
The rain dared not fall.
Li Fuchan slowly lifted his head. Lightning flowed through the vertical eye in his brow, casting half his face into light and half into shadow. The young man's gaze was indifferent, his voice calm:
"Since 'Li Thunder' withdrew from the world, its mighty voice has still echoed in our ears, its chilling awe-inspiring might has never vanished from the earth. Yet its nature is unyielding beyond measure and cannot tolerate evil. To see a demon and not kill it diminishes one's Dao attainment; to suffer deception by evil shakes one's foundations. Cultivators feared it at the crossroads, dreading its backlash, and so this path languished for a thousand years, its voice nearly silenced forever. Now its time has come. Evil spirits run rampant among mortals; the wrath of thunderbolts cannot be suppressed forever, nor can the righteous path be left to decline. The old course must change. It is time for something new."
Three Nothing raged, "You mean to violate the Spirit Oath!"
