Boom—!!!
As those words fell, billions of Otherworld creatures erupted at once.
They shrieked and roared, their eyes brimming with greed and the desire to slaughter.
The Myriad Heavens.
That rich and boundless world, that realm filled with spiritual energy and Dao laws, that prey they had coveted for countless epochs.
Three thousand years. In just another three thousand years, they could trample that realm beneath their feet, slaughter every living being in the Myriad Heavens, and plunder all its resources!
At that moment, amid the seething Otherworld creatures, a figure stood at the edge, his expression grim.
He was a handsome young man with two wings on his back, dressed in a dark gray robe.
His wings were dark gold, their feathers tightly packed, radiating the distinctive aura of the Winged God Race.
Wang Guan's expression was utterly bleak.
"These bastards..."
"They really are greedy and savage!"
Thirty years ago, he had entered a secret realm to explore it, only to fall into a spatial turbulence and be transported to this godforsaken place.
Disguised as a member of the Winged God Race, he had lived in the Otherworld as though treading on thin ice, taking every step with utmost care!
"Another three thousand years here..." Wang Guan murmured, his voice steeped in bitterness.
"When will these days ever end?"
"By the time I return, everything in the Myriad Heavens will probably have changed beyond recognition."
Deep within his sea of consciousness, an aged voice sounded, tinged with helplessness.
"Little Guan, all we can do is wait. Until then, you must never reveal your identity. Experts abound in the Otherworld, and that demon god is unfathomable. If you're exposed, even I won't be able to protect you."
Wang Guan nodded.
"I understand."
He took a deep breath, suppressed the emotions surging in his heart, and wiped the gloom from his face, replacing it with the customary arrogance of a young Winged God Race member.
Wang Guan raised his head toward the figure shrouded in gray mist high in the sky.
He joined the surrounding Otherworld creatures in their shrieks and roars, putting on a show of fanaticism.
Three thousand years!!
I have to endure these three thousand years!
And return to the Myriad Heavens alive!
Blood Cliff City, Withered Bone Dao Domain.
The city sprawled across a dark red desert, its walls piled high with white bones, every brick a dried human head.
The air within the city reeked of blood.
At the city's center rose a vast arena. Its circular stands were packed with spectators, their shrieks, roars, and wild laughter intertwining until the entire city trembled faintly.
"Well done, Yang Kong!"
"Yang Kong! Yang Kong!"
At the center of the arena, a figure stood proud.
He was a stern-faced young man dressed in blood-soaked black fighting clothes, his body wreathed in blood baleful intent so dense it had almost become tangible.
At his feet lay a headless corpse. Blood still gushed from its severed neck, staining the surrounding yellow sand dark red.
"The battle is over!"
On a raised platform at the edge of the arena stood a voluptuous woman in a tight red dress, its neckline so low that nearly half her breasts were exposed.
Her snow-white skin gleamed enticingly beneath the blood-red lights.
Holding an amplifying spirit stone, Zi He brought it to her red lips and spoke in a languid, alluring voice.
"Yang Kong wins this match!"
"Congratulations to Yang Kong—one hundred and sixty consecutive victories!"
The crowd in the stands erupted completely.
"Yang Kong! Yang Kong! Yang Kong!"
"I put a huge bet on him! The odds were only one to zero point eight, but I wagered five hundred thousand spirit stones! I made a killing!"
"Hahaha! Yang Kong is practically Blood Cliff City's god of wealth! Every time he wins, I get to feast and drink for a month!"
"Yang Kong! Next match, I'm betting everything I own on you!"
Frenzied cries surged like a tide. Countless spirit stones were tossed down from the stands, forming a small mountain at the arena's edge.
The gamblers stared with reddened eyes and wide grins, as though gazing upon a living god of wealth.
"Bastards!"
Inside a tower, Blood Cliff City's lord, Luo Wutian, frowned deeply, his gaze fixed on the black-clad figure in the arena as he spoke coldly.
"A bunch of useless trash!"
"My lord." Beside him, a subordinate bowed low, keeping his voice hushed.
"This man arrived in Blood Cliff City a year ago and fought his way up from the lowest-tier arena. So far, he's won all one hundred and sixty matches. Every time, he bets his entire fortune on himself, then wagers both his winnings and his original stake again."
"By now... the arena's gambling house has lost quite a lot of spirit stones."
Luo Wutian's fingers went still.
"How much?"
The subordinate swallowed, his voice trembling.
"Six hundred... and thirty million."
"Supreme-Grade Spirit Stones."
Bang—!
The instant those words fell.
Luo Wutian slammed his palm into the window frame, pulverizing the entire window.
He spun around, a vicious light blazing in his hawklike eyes.
"This is outrageous! In our vast Withered Bone Dao Domain, is there no one at his cultivation level who can deal with him?"
"At this rate, Blood Cliff City's savings of ten thousand years will all be lost!"
The subordinate lowered his head, not daring to answer.
Luo Wutian paced back and forth through the tower, then suddenly stopped and asked in a low voice.
"Have you investigated his background?"
"We have," the subordinate answered hurriedly. "He has the Divine Sun Sect behind him. They're immensely powerful and have close ties with the Ji Family, an Emperor Clan... We can't afford to offend them."
Luo Wutian's brow furrowed even deeper.
"Could Blood Cliff City have offended someone from the Divine Sun Sect at some point...?"
The Divine Sun Sect.
A colossal power entrenched in the southern region of the Myriad Heavens, with several Emperor Realm cultivators presiding over it.
Though Blood Cliff City held sway over part of the Withered Bone Dao Domain, it fell far, far short of the Divine Sun Sect.
Luo Wutian was just about to speak when hurried footsteps suddenly sounded outside the tower.
A subordinate stumbled inside, his face deathly pale and his voice shaking.
"My lord! Something terrible has happened!"
Luo Wutian demanded, "What's gotten you so panicked?"
The subordinate gasped twice before squeezing out the words.
"Someone from the Su Family, an Emperor Clan, is here! They've already reached the city gates!"
What?!
Someone from an Emperor Clan!?
Luo Wutian's expression changed drastically, and he inwardly cursed his rotten luck.
"Fuck, what has Blood Cliff City done to incur the wrath of heaven and man alike?!"
"Come on, hurry! Come welcome them with me!"
First the Divine Sun Sect, and now an even more terrifying power had arrived!
Without even taking the time to straighten his outer robe, Luo Wutian rushed out of the tower.
Inside the arena, Yang Kong glanced toward Luo Wutian's hurried departure and silently considered his situation.
My Slaughter Divine Law has reached greater mastery by refining all this blood energy, and I've gained plenty of resources lately. I have forty million Supreme-Grade Spirit Stones alone...
It's about time to leave.
Once I've earned a hundred million, I'll go.
"Yang Kong, are you continuing?"
At some point, Zi He had come to his side. She leaned her red lips close and lowered her voice so only the two of them could hear.
Her gaze swept over Yang Kong, a trace of complicated emotion in her eyes.
"Yes. Same as before," Yang Kong said calmly. "Bet all the spirit stones."
Forty million Supreme-Grade Spirit Stones.
Even without one-to-one odds, that would still net a hefty haul.
Zi He hesitated for a moment.
A flicker of worry crossed her alluring eyes.
She spoke directly through voice transmission.
"Yang Kong, you've done enough. If you keep going like this, I'm afraid the city lord won't let you leave."
"Besides, everyone knows you won't lose now. Your odds are only one to zero point six. It isn't worth it."
Yang Kong narrowed his eyes slightly.
"The odds are that low...?"
He murmured, then suddenly turned toward Zi He, the corners of his mouth lifting.
"In that case, for the next fight..."
"I'll fight above my realm and face a Supreme Realm opponent."
His voice was quiet, yet carried an unquestionable arrogance.
Zi He's beautiful eyes widened.
"Are you insane?!"
"Are you confident you can survive a death match against someone in the Supreme Realm?"
Yang Kong replied proudly, "Of course."
"I won't lose."
"Zi He, I'll stop once I've earned a hundred million. When that happens, I'll take you away with me."
Zi He murmured, "A hundred million...?"
But my freedom only costs ten million Supreme-Grade Spirit Stones.
After a moment of silence, Zi He sighed and nodded.
"I understand."
Elsewhere.
By the time Luo Wutian hurried to the city gates, his heart was pounding wildly.
From afar, he spotted the white-clad figure. The young man stood with his hands behind his back, incomparably handsome, his bearing lofty and jade-like.
The young man stood before Blood Cliff City's gates of piled white bones, with a little blonde girl sporting dragon horns behind him. His aura was contained like a deep abyss, betraying no fluctuations of cultivation whatsoever.
Yet that very blankness made Luo Wutian, an early-stage Emperor Realm cultivator, feel a pressure rising from the depths of his soul!
He had spent eight hundred thousand years in the Withered Bone Dao Domain and encountered countless ruthless men and villains, yet never had anyone sent a chill through his heart with a single glance.
"That is..."
"The Su... Su Family's Divine Son?!"
Luo Wutian's powerful frame jolted.
He hurried forward and bowed respectfully.
"I am Luo Wutian, city lord of Blood Cliff City. Greetings, Your Highness!"
"I was unaware of Your Highness's arrival and failed to welcome you from afar. Please forgive me!"
"Mm." Su Linxian glanced at him, his gaze indifferent.
Early-stage Emperor Realm. Nothing worth noting.
Su Linxian was just about to speak.
Suddenly, a notification sounded in his mind.
[Ding! Heaven-Destined Protagonist detected. Current distance: five hundred zhang.]
Su Linxian's eyes flickered.
It seems the divine law really is here.
Luo Wutian spoke shakily.
"Well... may I ask what brings Your Highness here?"
Su Linxian replied, "I'm looking for someone."
Looking for someone?
Confusion filled Luo Wutian's face. He was about to speak when he saw the Emperor Clan's Divine Son turn toward the enormous arena deep within the city.
The crowd in the stands was boiling with excitement, its shrieks and roars surging like a tide and making the entire city tremble faintly.
Overhead, red clouds and blood baleful intent surged to the heavens, shaking hearts and minds alike.
Su Linxian remarked calmly.
"Quite lively."
"What is that place?"
Luo Wutian forced a fawning smile onto his face.
"Your Highness, this is the Arena in Blood Cliff City. Just a bunch of lowlifes killing one another for amusement. The Withered Bone Dao Domain has always been a land of chaos. Such vulgar entertainment is unworthy of your attention..."
"Please follow me, Your Highness. I will take you to..."
"No need. Let's have a look."
Ignoring his courtesies, Su Linxian strode toward the Arena.
"What?!"
Luo Wutian's heart tightened, and he hurried after him.
The pavilion inside the Arena offered an excellent view, taking in the entire venue at a glance.
Luo Wutian stood respectfully to one side.
Yu Yao raised an eyebrow and spoke.
"Master, is the divine law you're looking for really here?"
"This place is nothing special. They're all rotten fish and stinking shrimp. Hardly any of them are strong."
Su Linxian reclined in the grand armchair beside the window, his eyes lowered.
The Exquisite Chessboard appeared in his hand. He toyed with the threads of fate of everyone in the Arena and said evenly,
"Cause and effect, fate and destiny—who can say whether one of those rotten fish and stinking shrimp you speak of might someday attain the Dao and become a Great Emperor?"
"Yu Yao, do not underestimate the people of this world."
Though, of course, even a Great Emperor hardly amounted to anything.
His divine sense spread silently, enveloping the entire Arena as he searched for the aura of that Heaven-Destined Protagonist.
A moment later, Su Linxian frowned slightly.
The Heaven-Destined Protagonist's aura was indeed in this area, but its precise location remained indistinct, as though something were concealing it.
Does he have a magical treasure that conceals his aura?
Just then,
A flurry of hurried footsteps sounded outside the pavilion.
"City Lord! Something has happened with Yang Kong!"
A subordinate rushed inside. Looking up and seeing Su Linxian seated by the window, he froze. His lips moved, but he dared not speak, his gaze drifting hesitantly toward Luo Wutian.
Luo Wutian's expression darkened, and he snapped,
"What are you standing there for? This is His Highness, the Divine Son of the Su Family, an Emperor Clan! Speak plainly!"
The subordinate trembled and hastily lowered his head.
"City Lord! Yang Kong... he has decided to fight above his realm. And he has bet all the spirit stones he earned before on himself! A full forty million Supreme-Grade Spirit Stones—every last one!"
Luo Wutian paused in surprise.
His first reaction to the news was wild delight.
"Really?!"
Fighting above his realm meant Yang Kong would have to face an opponent in the Supreme Realm!
He had won all one hundred and sixty of his fights against opponents in the same realm, but crossing a major realm was another matter entirely!
The gulf between the Supreme Realm and the Hunyuan Realm was not something talent could easily bridge.
Yang Kong's popularity was blazing hot right now. If he lost, the gambling house might recover every spirit stone it had paid out before.
"Excellent!" Luo Wutian said through gritted teeth, his voice brimming with long-suppressed excitement. "Arrange for the strongest opponent! We must make him lose this time!"
Su Linxian glanced at him.
"City Lord Luo, you seem to hold a grudge against this man. Who is he?"
Only then did Luo Wutian realize he had lost his composure. He hastily restrained his smile and bowed as he explained.
"Your Highness, Yang Kong came to Blood Cliff City a year ago and fought his way up from the lowest tier of the Arena. To date, he has won all one hundred and sixty of his fights. Every time, he bets his entire fortune on himself. After winning, he stakes both his original wager and his winnings again. The gambling house has already lost four hundred and thirty million Supreme-Grade Spirit Stones. If this continues, I fear he will win Blood Cliff City itself clean out!"
"Yang Kong belongs to the Divine Sun Sect. Out of respect for the Divine Sun Sect, I had not intended to take issue with him. But he is simply too greedy. Even after winning more than forty million Supreme-Grade Spirit Stones, he refuses to leave, and now he intends to fight above his realm."
"In that case, he cannot blame me for showing no consideration."
Su Linxian's eyes flickered as he murmured,
"One hundred and sixty fights, all victories. He bets on himself every time, staking his entire fortune."
"Interesting."
Such confidence in his wagers, such absolute certainty in his own strength...
Yang Kong, is it...
Without a doubt, a Heaven-Destined Protagonist!
