Background / History
Capture and Naming
Su Qi gives the Emperor Realm dragon carp to Su Linxian as a potential cultivation aid. At Su Linxian’s residence, she assumes the form of a young girl and begs him not to eat her. To prove her usefulness, she offers a mind-protecting Divine Pearl and information about an Immortal-Era Teng Snake in the Sacred Demon Domain whose flesh may help cultivators comprehend a higher realm 13.
Rather than release her, Su Linxian implants a Soul Master Mark in her sea of consciousness and names her Yu Yao. Unable to resist the seal, she acknowledges him as her master. She then spends five years waiting outside his cultivation chambers 13.
Service in the Ziwei Domain
Yu Yao follows Su Linxian during the Yun Family’s attempt to dissolve Miao Yin Yun’s engagement, openly mocking the visitors for offending him. Afterward, she praises his authority and repeatedly asks when they can go out to play 14 15 16.
In the Ziwei Domain, she carries out his order to eliminate the cultivators threatening the newly reborn Li Junhua. She kills the Quasi-Emperors and destroys the fleeing Great Emperor Rift-Space, then returns to seek Su Linxian’s approval. She later kills the pursuers hunting Ming Qingshu 18 19 20.
The You Family Wedding
In King-Sealing City, Yu Yao explores shops with Ming Qingshu before blocking You Ning’s chariot. When its driver threatens to cripple her, she kills him with a glare. Her announcement that Su Linxian belongs to the Su Emperor Clan turns You Ning’s hostility into hospitality 21.
At the You estate, she releases her Emperor aura when Yun Qian challenges Su Linxian’s identity. Su Linxian later lends her assistance to Li Junhua after uncovering the You Family’s deception of Ming Suwen 22 23.
During the wedding confrontation, Yu Yao brings the captured You Family Grand Elder before the guests and compels him to confess the clan’s role in massacring the Ming Family. You Taichu subsequently pins her to the ground with his power; she remains defiant until Su Linxian intervenes and destroys the You Family 24 25 26.
Blood Child’s Refinement
After Su Linxian kills the peak-Emperor cultivator Blood Child, Yu Yao volunteers to refine his corpse using an Ancient Puppet Art. Su Linxian permits the attempt and instructs her to extract the corpse’s Great Daos for him 36.
She begins experimenting with golden dragon patterns while Su Linxian is in seclusion. By the time he emerges ten years later, she has completed Blood Child, a puppet retaining peak Emperor Realm power 39 40.
Immortal Mountain and the Kunwu Mirror
Yu Yao accompanies Su Linxian to Immortal Mountain, warns him about its requirement that visitors climb on foot, and watches him shatter its law chains. Although the guardian beasts’ combined attack terrifies her, their defeat renews her admiration for him 44 45.
Using the Kunwu Mirror, she sees her past as a palm-sized golden carp swimming in a pool of lifeless water. Su Qi appears in the vision and seems to address her across time, telling her that she still has a use connected to the final Order Divine Law his son needs 48.
A second vision shows a possible future in which she has become a golden-haired woman who annihilates Otherworld cultivators with golden rain. She excitedly identifies the woman as herself, but Su Qi later cautions that the mirror reveals only one possible future 48 49.
After leaving Immortal Mountain, she tries to make Xiao call her “Big Sister Yu Yao.” Two hundred years later, she is still at the Su Family, watching Xiao spar with Li Junhua 51.
Appearance
Yu Yao’s humanoid form resembles a small, fair-skinned blonde girl with distinctly draconic features 13 16.
- Eyes: Golden, slit-pupiled eyes that widen or narrow noticeably with her emotions 13 31.
- Horns: Golden dragon horns 16 17.
- Clothing: A short golden skirt formed from scales 13.
- Feet and ornaments: Usually barefoot, with tiny golden bells tied around an ankle 13.
- Scales: Bristle when she is frightened; dragon-scale patterns appear across her palms during combat 19 31 43.
- Carp form: The Kunwu Mirror depicts her past self as a palm-sized golden carp with luminous scales 48.
Personality
Yu Yao is playful, curious, and easily bored by long periods of cultivation. She enjoys spirit fruit, jewelry, comfortable bedding, and street novelties; in King-Sealing City, she insists on having a sugar figurine shaped like a golden dragon. Her mischievousness also interferes with her own training, prompting Su Linxian to tell her to cultivate properly 13 17 21 23 39.
Her cheerful manner coexists with lethal aggression. She smiles while killing enemies, mocks people who offend her master, and eagerly treats puppet refinement as an opportunity to acquire an “Emperor toy.” She also enjoys watching personal drama and encouraging fights 14 19 23 36 51.
Though initially frightened and resentful of her forced servitude, she increasingly seeks Su Linxian’s praise and relies on his protection. That confidence does not eliminate her fear of Su Qi, the Otherworld, or the Primordial True Beast’s bloodline pressure 13 19 31 39 43.
Abilities & Skills
Dragon Carp Physique and Strength
Her Dragon Carp bloodline grants extraordinary innate gifts. The narration states that even without transforming into a dragon, she would not necessarily be much weaker than the divine beasts of heaven and earth 39.
- Kills a peak Quasi-Emperor with a palm strike that destroys both his head and soul, without invoking a divine ability or Dao law 19.
- Forms an illusory golden dragon claw from pure physical strength, reaching across ten thousand li to capture and crush Great Emperor Rift-Space 19.
- Rift-Space is a fifth-level Emperor Realm cultivator, but Su Linxian has already grievously wounded him before she finishes him 19.
- Her strength does not place her on equal footing with peak Emperors: You Taichu immobilizes her, and Lu Wu and Kai Ming’s combined attack leaves her feeling helpless 24 45.
Speed and Spatial Movement
- Outruns fleeing Quasi-Emperors who are burning their origin essence, leaving successive afterimages as she attacks 19.
- Eliminates Ming Qingshu’s pursuers within a dozen breaths 20.
- Emerges through a torn opening in space while carrying the captured You Family Grand Elder 24.
Emperor Pressure and Bloodline Authority
- Kills You Ning’s driver by directing pressure through her golden eyes 21.
- Releases Emperor aura strong enough to force weaker wedding guests to their knees 22.
- Causes lesser demonic beasts, including the Scarlet Flame Mad Lions, to submit instinctively to her dragon bloodline 21.
- Is herself subject to stronger bloodline suppression: the Primordial True Beast Embryo makes her tremble, and its enhanced aura later forces her onto the deck 31 43.
Divine Pearl
Yu Yao claims she can breathe out and nurture a Divine Pearl that protects a cultivator’s mind 13.
- Clears distracting desires and wards off evil influences 13.
- According to her bargaining pitch, prevents inner demons and improves cultivation efficiency 13.
- No actual production or use of the pearl is shown in the supplied passages 13.
Ancient Puppet Art
Yu Yao knows an Ancient Puppet Art, though her first documented attempt is experimental 36 39.
- Channels golden dragon patterns from her fingertips into Blood Child’s corpse to circulate its blood-colored baleful energy 39.
- Successfully completes a puppet with peak Emperor Realm power 40.
- Is instructed to extract the corpse’s Great Daos, but the supplied passages do not explicitly confirm that extraction 36 40.
Knowledge of Ancient Beasts and Forbidden Zones
- Supplies information about the Immortal-Era Teng Snake in the Sacred Demon Domain 13.
- Recognizes the Supreme Emperor Bell 17.
- Identifies the twelve Primordial True Beasts as the first ancestors and bloodline source of the Demon Race 31.
- Knows of the Sinful Dragon Abyss and its million-year-old Demon Race Supreme, as well as Immortal Mountain’s entry rule 40 44.
Equipment / Items
- Blood Child — A puppet she refines from the slain Blood Fiend Ancestor’s corpse. It retains a peak Emperor Realm aura, with hollow eyes containing dark-red flames 36 39 40.
- Kunwu Mirror — temporary use — With Su Linxian’s permission, she uses the mirror to view her past and a possible future; the artifact belongs to Su Linxian, not her 48.
Relationships
- Su Linxian — Her master, namer, and protector. Their bond begins with an imposed Soul Master Mark; she later serves as his enthusiastic fighter and repeatedly seeks his approval 13 19 31 39.
- Su Qi — Gives her to his son and continues to frighten her with remarks about eating her. His appearance in her mirror vision suggests that he anticipated her usefulness to Su Linxian 13 31 48.
- Li Junhua / Xingyuan — Fellow subordinate whom she helps protect and assists during the You Family wedding confrontation. She frequently teases him about Ming Suwen 19 20 23 24 51.
- Ming Qingshu — Rescued companion whom she takes shopping through King-Sealing City 20 21.
- Mu Chiyu — Traveling companion who recognizes her species. Yu Yao angrily threatens her after learning that the ancient Imperial Court raised Emperor Realm dragon carp for food; Mu later explains how to use the Kunwu Mirror 42 48.
- Xiao — Younger follower she teases and asks to address her as “Big Sister Yu Yao.” He initially ignores her; she later watches his training with Li Junhua 47 51.
