Lin Bai chatted with the little fox as though no one else were there. Within a few sentences, they were already talking about meeting the parents.
Xu Longyun and Jiang Qingqin exchanged bewildered looks. Whenever they spoke with Lin Bai, the conversation went off the rails within a few words, as though his thoughts ran on an entirely different track from theirs.
Jiang Qingqin pointed at her own head and looked questioningly at Xu Longyun.
Recalling everything Lin Bai had done since arriving in Jiamao City, Xu Longyun nodded with certainty.
Xu Longyun coughed. "Shopkeeper Lin, you can discuss your business with the fox spirit when you have some free time. Shouldn't we get down to business now?"
Seeing Lin Bai and Little White Fox getting along so well left Xu Longyun inexplicably irritated. Suddenly, she no longer wanted to warn him about the dangers of monsters.
Someone like him deserved to suffer a little. Only then would he learn right from wrong, good from bad—and how normal people communicated!
"What business?" Lin Bai asked.
"Do you remember what I told you the other day about the Chaoyuan Sword Sect, Hundred Flowers Valley, and the other sects setting up additional recruitment stations in Qian City?" Xu Longyun asked.
"I remember," Lin Bai said.
"Many Heaven-Sent Ones have been abducted by members of the Evil Sect on their way to Qian City," Xu Longyun said.
"The Evil Sect?" Lin Bai froze for a moment. Since entering this world, he had never heard of any evil sects, let alone any Evil Sect Novice Village. He hadn't expected them to surface now.
"Yes, people of the Demonic Path," Jiang Qingqin said. "Judging by their methods, they should be from the Bloodshadow Sect."
"Why don't they just come to Jiamao City to abduct people?"
