Power Progression

These milestones concern particular members or groups, not a realm attained simultaneously by every Heaven-Sent One.

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Nine Suns Scripture cultivation 56 Deng Libuduo trains for nearly twelve hours daily. Luo Congwen, a native learning the same scripture, progresses at roughly one percent of Deng’s rate.
Dragon-Subduing Palm training 130 Most Beggar Gang disciples can perform no more than one complete sequence because of its inner-force cost; they continue relying primarily on Rejuvenation Arrows.
Golden Core Realm 245 Roughly a dozen players recruited by the Beast Taming Sect reach Golden Core within a few days under its superior training and resource support. Borrowing strength from their beasts is discussed as a possible next step toward Nascent Soul, not a completed breakthrough.
Void Insight Realm 340 Some players reach Void Insight through sustained cultivation. Native heavenly prodigies consider possessing these bodies to avoid losing cultivation.
Divine Core acquisition 433 Lao Mi gains levels and a Divine Core during the recurring crises and rescues arranged around him by Lin Bai.
Accelerated wartime leveling 435 Login rewards, Divine Artifacts, and combat experience allow Real World players to rapidly approach the restored Heavenly Being players’ levels.

Origin and Identity

The Heaven-Sent Ones are ordinary people in their own world, not inherently immortal beings. Their extraordinary aptitude and apparent immortality belong to the bodies through which they enter the game worlds. [Far-Sighted Eagle] explicitly tells a native cultivator that these are not their real bodies 256 341.

Their arrival does not represent a single organized mission. Lin Bai describes their initial motives as playing, seeking excitement, and experiencing another life. Others pursue advertising revenue, corporate expansion, political influence, or personal power 144 194 255 370.

  • Heaven-Mandated Ones are a separate concept. Lin Bai presents them as figures who arise during great calamities, suggesting that one might emerge among the Heaven-Sent Ones rather than identifying all players as Heaven-Mandated Ones 119 120.
  • Heavenly Beings are initially a distinct population. The Immortal Realm’s inhabitants are later revealed to be former players whose memories and player functions were removed. The Nine Heavenly Kings retained knowledge of their origins 430.
  • Player status is reversible. The Game Company eventually restores the Heavenly Beings’ memories and functions, then threatens to turn unsuccessful participants into NPCs again 433.

Characteristics and Behavior

The Heaven-Sent Ones commonly approach native society as a game rather than a world whose customs bind them. Their lack of fear of death encourages experimentation, irreverence, and risk-taking. Many judge factions by entertainment and rewards rather than orthodox or demonic labels 94 144 143.

Their interests are not uniform. Deng Libuduo accepts monotonous training with exceptional discipline, while newly recruited sect players demand action instead of secluded cultivation. The Beggar Gang’s leadership prioritizes markets and independence; Lin Bai’s fans enter specifically to support him. Lone Elder also rejects the claim that the entire population is wicked, arguing that most remain law-abiding 56 143 187 194 255.

  • Customizable appearance: Players can customize their faces, although Lin Bai’s transformed disciples eventually surpass them in appearance 343.
  • Protagonist expectations: Many interpret Lin Bai’s discussion of Heaven-Mandated Ones as confirmation that they are the story’s central heroes 120.
  • Divided loyalties: Cooperation with Lin Bai can coexist with plans to escape his influence or eliminate him 194 198.
  • Changing moral attitudes: Some later object that the supposed NPCs are living people; others accept the conflict as a struggle between civilizations 423.

Abilities & Skills

Rapid Cultivation and Learning

The Heaven-Sent Ones possess open meridians and encounter almost no cultivation bottlenecks. Their learning speed threatens to displace native disciples even within the sects that recruit them 108.

  • Can understand instruction after hearing it once and learn skills after a single lesson, astonishing the Returning Dragon Temple’s Taoists 165.
  • Can readily learn the Gods and Devils Continent’s magic and battle aura as well as cultivation techniques 377.
  • Still require manuals, pills, teachers, and other resources; exceptional aptitude does not supply these automatically 269 302.
  • A player influx of 500,000 strains supplies, leaving most to cultivate slowly when sects withhold pills and manuals 343.
  • Players in their eighties are described as equivalent to the Spirit Transformation Realm 370.

Respawning and Game Access

Players cannot ordinarily be permanently killed within the game, making conventional force an unreliable way to secure their obedience 119 120.

  • Can log in, log out, and disappear from the natives’ perspective 80 327 329.
  • Return to Respawn Points after death; defeated players can leave equipment behind 433.
  • Repeated deaths can cost time and cultivation, giving opponents a means of delaying their growth 144.
  • Immortality does not prevent confinement, compulsory behavior, skill theft, or spiritual-power draining 433.
  • A possessed player can share a body with Lin Bai: Zheng Tong retains control in the Real World, while Lin Bai controls the game body when logged in 327.

Communication and Intelligence

Player messaging, livestreams, and forums connect otherwise separated factions and expose events to observers outside the game 107 144 210.

  • Serve as rapid news relays for sect leaders traveling away from Qian City 144.
  • Plant informants inside rival sects and report their plans to Lin Bai 198.
  • Supply intelligence to opposing factions, sometimes deliberately withholding decisive information 179.
  • Staff the Righteous Alliance’s Intelligence Division and propose a continent-spanning information network in the Immortal Realm 251 370.
  • Use publications such as Justice Weekly and Heavenly Dao Review to influence native reputations and factional politics 229 238.

Commerce, Organization, and Technology

Players bring advertising, corporate management, modern knowledge, and commercial practices into cultivation society 134 198 337 343.

  • Organize recruitment fairs, sponsorships, performances, and an Advertising Alliance 134 165.
  • Operate shops, produce pills and tools, and attach real-world company names to pill brands 198.
  • Conduct alchemical research, including attempts to reverse-engineer an Enlightenment Pill 143.
  • Adapt real-world technology for use against cultivators 337.
  • Combine modern weapons with large player armies during the West Continent’s invasion of the Gods and Devils Continent 370.

Lucky-Account Abilities

The Game Company grants some accounts exceptional bonuses. Several scale with level or complement other players’ abilities, making coordinated teams especially dangerous 370.

Account / Ability Effect
[Black Unicorn] Gains 125% more battle experience than ordinary players 370.
[Silver Nightmare] — Archery Mastery Arrows ignore obstacles; arrow damage increases by 5% per level 370.
Defense Mastery Defense increases by 5% per level 370.
Healing Mastery Healing spells improve by 5% per level 370.
Morale enhancement Increases teammates’ spiritual-energy recovery speed by 50% 370.
Dynamic vision Detects minute movements, including an opponent’s breathing and heartbeat 370.
Insight Eye Reads opponents’ moves and learns their skills 370.

Equipment and Rewards

  • Windbreaker Rejuvenation Arrows — The Beggar Gang’s early mainstay. Effective use requires delivering the pill into a native opponent’s stomach; the pills have little effect on players 130.
  • Cleavers and bows — Crafted by Lin Bai for players, then incorporated into his paid weapon sales and enhancement business 125.
  • Demon beast eggs — Beast Taming Sect players nurture them with spiritual power. The resulting beasts share a mental connection with their owners 245.
  • Experience and cultivation rewards — Open-beta treasure chests can provide hundredfold-experience cards, temporary Mahayana trial cards, and skins that double cultivation speed 428.
  • Heaven-Earth Mirror — Obtained by [Cute Little Demon King]. Its front kills reflected targets and its back restores them to life, regardless of level 428.
  • Late-game Divine Artifacts — Include automatically pursuing arrows, petrifying eyes, permanently wounding swords, and long-distance transport devices. Such artifacts can bypass cultivation or level differences and change hands when their wielders are killed 435.

Protection and Restrictions

Authority / Mechanism Effect on Heaven-Sent Ones
Divine oracle in novice cities Forbids government interference during their protected period; violation threatens the city and its people with heavenly thunder 44.
Oracle imposed on major sects Prohibits large-scale interference in early player growth and large-scale violent suppression 238.
Jiamao City administration Allows advertising if activities are registered with the City Lord’s Residence 104.
Immortal Oversight Bureau Temporary government institution created to manage Heaven-Sent Ones and prevent recruitment disputes from provoking sect warfare 114.
Righteous Alliance Inspection Division Uses native Golden Core cultivators to monitor and police player misconduct 251.
Immortal Realm entry controls Detains and registers arriving players, issues nameplates, and uses a forced-smile test to detect bodies potentially possessed by Lin Bai 390.
Heavenly Kings’ recruitment policies Later grant players ordinary Heavenly Being rights, skill access, teleportation access, and quests targeting Lin Bai’s alliance 401.
Game Company Can change rewards, access, memories, and player functions, overriding arrangements made by native authorities 423 433.

History

Jiamao City and the Novice Period

Lin Bai first approaches [Long Xi] by claiming that an old immortal foretold the arrival of fearless, helpful outsiders. By the time he discusses them with Xu Longyun, the government already considers them a threat but is constrained by divine protection 8 44.

Lin Bai recruits almost all of Jiamao City’s Heaven-Sent Ones into the Protector Gang under the Righteousness Sect. Xu Longyun conceals the extent of this recruitment because concentrating an entire city’s players in one faction could provoke retaliation from both orthodox and evil sects 94.

Recruitment Competition in Qian City

The Bloodshadow Sect abducts Heaven-Sent Ones traveling toward Qian City. Jiang Qingqin is sent to escort recruits, but most traveling players are eventually taken by evil cultivators; the Beggar Gang suffers the fewest losses 94 114.

Lin Bai challenges forced recruitment and proposes open recruitment stations, including for evil factions, alongside safer travel. The Beggar Gang later turns Qian City’s cultivation job fair into a sponsored commercial event. Governments also seek players uninterested in cultivation as potential national recruits 120 134.

The Righteousness Sect and Righteous Alliance

Players help transform the former Returning Dragon Temple into the Righteousness Sect, staging an advertising-heavy recruitment ceremony. Their rapid learning alarms the temple’s Taoists, while their Advertising Alliance protects Lin Bai because their income depends on him 165.

When establishing the Righteous Alliance, Lin Bai openly identifies uncontrolled player growth as a danger. His proposed solution is to connect their livelihoods to native society through trade, medicine, farming, and transportation. Beggar Gang leaders cooperate publicly while planning an independent power base 186 187 194.

Corporate Expansion and Rival Armies

Major sects begin training players to strengthen themselves against Lin Bai. Corporate consortiums seek their own territory and bargaining power, while national governments view player knowledge as a possible counterweight to cultivation-world dominance 238 255 257 269.

Lin Bai also builds a separate player force around his fan club. Genuine fans receive a ten-percent combat boost, and the club eventually expels members who fail to demonstrate that benefit 251 255 294.

Possession and Cross-World Expansion

Lin Bai’s possession of Zheng Tong gives him access to the player interface and a means of approaching players under one of their own identities. He uses Zheng’s corporate position to secure backing and asserts control over the Blood Sect in Lin Bai’s name 327 329.

As players exploit abandoned sect resources and spread through Magpie Bridges, their technological and economic influence grows. Native cultivators’ possession experiments reveal that the supposedly immortal outsiders are ordinary people in a technological world without spiritual energy 337 341 343.

The Immortal Realm Revelation

Players enter the Immortal Realm while Lin Bai investigates its rulers. He initially infers that the Nine Heavenly Kings are players and that the other Heavenly Beings are manufactured NPCs. The later confession corrects the latter conclusion: the wider population also descended from players, but lost its memories and functions 395 430.

The Heavenly Kings recount how the game Expedition led players to exploit and exterminate the realm’s natives, then fight one another for more than a thousand years. Lin Bai publishes their testimony, but Real World players divide between disbelief, hostility, and refusal to use Game Pods 430.

Open Beta and the Ultimate Mission

The Game Company announces a full open beta with safer Game Pods, easier travel, improved rewards, guilds, achievements, and other player benefits. Lin Bai recognizes that the update threatens native populations by removing obstacles to mass player entry 423 424.

After two peaceful months, the company restores the Heavenly Beings’ player functions and orders them to kill Lin Bai’s followers and destroy the world. Only the top thirty million contributors are promised retained memories and entry into the next game. Real World players enter the conflict to rescue relatives, acquire power, and retaliate against the restored players 433 435.

Defeat of the Heavenly Being Players

Lin Bai drains the restored players’ power and shares their life force with native survivors, creating effectively undying Butterfly Demons. He then distributes his abilities and laws so the natives can seize player-held Divine Artifacts 436 437.

The defeated Heavenly Beings become laborers and unwilling sources of spiritual power and combat practice. People from the Real World later migrate into the largely emptied Immortal Realm, while most survivors avoid further use of Game Pods 438.

Relationships

  • Lin Bai — Recruiter, teacher, trading partner, regulator, and adversary. He seeks to integrate players through shared interests while also disrupting their growth and exploiting their labor 104 144 187 194.
  • Xu Longyun — Initially regards them as destabilizing outsiders; later regulates advertising, oversees alliance finances, organizes player intelligence, and manages the fan club 81 104 251 370.
  • Jiang Qingqin — Escorts recruits to Qian City and later organizes Lin Bai’s player fans 94 114 251 255.
  • Guo Yuan — Supports institutional management and considers recruiting players outside the sect system, while questioning whether Lin Bai can restrain them once they become powerful 134 144.
  • Seven Righteous Sects and demonic factions — Compete for their talent but fear their independence; both eventually cultivate players as potential weapons against Lin Bai 108 238 311.
  • Corporate consortiums — Supply organized player groups seeking markets, territory, and influence. Their authority weakens as individual power and the Righteous Alliance become more important 255 269 400.
  • Game Company — Controls their access and advantages but also manipulates memories and threatens player populations with demotion to NPC status 423 430 433.
