Qing Mo had been watching Toothless closely. When he discovered that Toothless had gone off to do who knew what, he even considered leaving the Barrier to drag the little fellow back.
Who would have thought that, over half an hour later, he would see Toothless and a little white furball swaggering toward them, one behind the other? The two little creatures looked as relaxed as if they were strolling through their own garden. Their strutting, heads-high, chests-out gait left him not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
The little white furball was only about the size of his two palms. It walked unsteadily, occasionally tripping over its own short legs and landing chin-first in a little heap. Judging by that, it probably had not been born long ago. Perhaps because its fur lay flat, it looked much smaller than an ordinary tiger. It trotted eagerly behind Toothless, wandering off halfway to sniff at something else, but whenever little Toothless stopped to wait, it would catch up again.
The larger and smaller furballs ran straight up to him.
Had he not been absolutely confident in his Barrier, Qing Mo would have wondered whether something had gone wrong with it-or whether Toothless had seen through it long ago.
Toothless dropped what it was carrying in its mouth onto the ground and dug a hole larger than itself. It pushed the treasure it had scraped up outside the dark-element magic beast tiger's cave into the hole, then buried it with dirt.
Toothless stamped all four paws over the fresh dirt, only circling back to the little white furball after it had trodden the soil flat and firm.
Qing Mo had no idea what the two little creatures whispered to each other. He only saw the white furball run over to the hole,
