CC seemed to recognize Lodi as the bastard who had nearly killed him a few days earlier. A cold gleam suddenly flashed in his deep blue eyes, so terrifying that Lodi's lips began to tremble.
Watching CC approach like the Grim Reaper, Lodi panicked so badly that he could barely speak coherently. Clutching his dagger, he blurted out a meaningless threat. "Y-you stay away!"

CC suddenly roared, pushed off with all four legs, and lunged straight at Lodi.
Lodi's heart clenched. He hurled throwing blades in rapid succession, aiming all over CC's body.
Facing blades that could easily pierce steel plates, CC did not even flinch. He opened his vicious jaws and snapped at them.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The blades struck CC, but failed to cut even a single hair before bouncing off.
"How is that possible?"
Lodi's eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets. He knew how powerful his throwing knives were. Even if they could not rival bullets, they were more than enough to deal with a dog. Yet CC's terrifying defenses now had him questioning everything he knew.
He had no time to dwell on it. Seeing that the blades had failed to stop CC, he could only summon all his spiritual energy to defend himself. A layer of Qi Armor appeared directly in front of him.
With the Qi Armor protecting him, Lodi finally felt a little safer.
