Background / History
Chen Hao grows up in a poor rural family before attending college and working in Zhonghai. He quits his former employer because of Zhang Liang’s harsh, vindictive conduct; Zhang later falsely tells others that he fired Chen Hao. To support himself, Chen Hao delivers takeout and works as a designated driver 1 4 201.
His access to the Heavenly Court Chat Group becomes his principal opportunity to change his circumstances. Initially unsure how to turn divine connections into a livelihood, he discovers that ordinary goods—cigarettes, liquor, snacks, and game consoles—can secure immortal medicines, techniques, and artifacts. Healing supplies and Peach Blossom Wine inspire his first concrete plans to build a company 5 12 15 124.
Appearance
- Youthful appearance: Fang Lei and the Qin family repeatedly find his age difficult to reconcile with his cultivation and medical abilities; no exact age is supplied 60 106.
- Cultivation armor: His Qi Armor is blood-red and becomes almost solid after absorbing Sun Wukong’s blood essence 206.
- Dragon markings: The Dragon Claw Immortal Artifact initially leaves a scale mark beneath his right palm. Its upgraded form turns his entire arm golden and covers it with dragon-scale patterns 149 231.
- Giant transformation: Giant Spirit Art produces a towering, red-skinned form 146.
- Replacement body: Nuwa’s clay figure is delivered with a head and four limbs but little other resemblance to a human being; Chen Hao openly complains about its appearance 404.
Personality
Chen Hao is resourceful, irreverent, and opportunistic. He bargains with immortals through their appetite for modern products and uses commercial rivalry to obtain favors. His confidence often becomes theatrical arrogance: he taunts stronger opponents, humiliates the Yun brothers, and enjoys making powerful people defer to him 130 168 170 229.
His strongest commitments are personal. He wants to improve his parents’ lives, protects friends and partners, and treats promises as obligations. He compensates Hao Chen generously for a wrecked taxi and agrees to treat more than two hundred poisoned Qi Refiners despite the burden, requiring them to stop harming innocents 60 201 273.
That compassion coexists with ruthlessness. He kills Uncle Zheng to enforce the Lu Association takeover and threatens lethal force when trying to take Xiang Wencun away from Nine Blades. Violence nevertheless affects him emotionally: after the Rakshasa conflict, he weeps while trying to wipe blood from his hands 120 272 309.
He is flirtatious, vain, and frequently poor at handling romantic tension. He uses Heavenly Eye to watch Liu Yan shower, lies about cooking her breakfast, and repeatedly worsens jealousy through awkward explanations. He also shows occasional restraint, rejecting the idea of using Liu Yan merely to make Sun Jiaqi jealous 56 78 124 206.
Formal authority initially appeals to him less than an ordinary life with his loved ones. He refuses National Congress membership and command of the anti-Rakshasa operation, but later accepts responsibility for leading Huaxia’s Qi Refiners when fragmentation threatens the country 187 291.
Abilities & Skills
Heavenly Book
A fifth-grade immortal cultivation method that provides both spiritual training and unusually rapid comprehension of techniques 46 246.
- Enables him to understand Death God’s Scythe after reading its manual once 246.
- Helps heal internal injuries through cultivation 103.
- Circulates automatically in Guanghan Palace’s dense spiritual environment 173.
- Understanding a technique does not supply the strength or resources needed to use it fully 35 246.
Heavenly Eye Art
A progressively expanding perception art used for medicine, reconnaissance, energy analysis, and combat 69 106 267.
- Inspects injuries and internal conditions, including Chen Kuang’s fractured thigh and Elder Qin’s nearly stopped circulation 106 212.
- Traces spiritual-energy flow and detects hidden sources and spirit-array cores 69 106 189.
- Yin-Yang Eyes permit direct interaction with souls 147.
- Heavenly Eye Opening releases a powerful area attack. Three seconds exhaust all his spiritual power during the Rakshasa battle 268.
Medical Arts
The Yellow Emperor’s Book of Changes supplies extensive knowledge, while supernatural medicines support treatments beyond ordinary medicine 15.
- Saves Chu Jinliang, awakens the comatose Sen Ning, and helps restore Chu Mengling’s face 29 102 106.
- Uses golden needles and Blue Light Potion to restore Chen Kuang’s ability to walk 212.
- Obtains a Gu-Removing Technique that contributes to Elder Qin’s recovery 178.
- Medicine has limits: he cannot save the mortally wounded Qin Xiao, and acupuncture fails after Chu Jinliang dies 116 226.
- His agreement with Horse Face costs ten years of yang lifespan during the effort to bring Chu Jinliang back 226 227.
Tiger-Subduing Arhat Fist
A four-stage martial art whose usable power depends heavily on the practitioner’s strength 35 146.
| Stage | Described capability |
|---|---|
| First | Punches carry a tiger’s roar and overwhelming force 35. |
| Second | Concentrates internal force into roaring breaths that injure through sound waves 35. |
| Third | Gives condensed true qi the form of an attacking phantom tiger 35. |
| Fourth | Embodies Tiger-Subduing Arhat’s golden form; described in the manual, not explicitly attained in the supplied passages 35. |
- The Giant Spirit God’s Blood lets him demonstrate that the technique’s earlier apparent weakness came from his own limited strength 146.
Defensive Techniques
- Qi Armor: Blood-red spiritual armor used against martial attacks, projectiles, and array-generated weapons. Sustained attacks can crack it 146 189 267.
- Holy Light Protection: Sixth-rank spell that blocks attacks of any kind for three seconds, usable once per day 118.
- Celestial Immortal Art: At its maximum second level, grants immunity to all poisons 69.
- Dragon scales: Their inherent dragon energy can withstand one spiritual-energy attack 179.
Giant Spirit Art
A fourth-rank immortal art requiring the Giant Spirit God’s bloodline power 146.
- Enlarges Chen Hao’s body and greatly increases his physical strength 146.
- Lets him support a boulder weighing several tons and break free of the Yamata Society’s Earth Prison Technique 180 366.
- The original blood-fueled activation threatens to overwhelm his body unless he keeps releasing its energy 146.
Weapon Techniques and Clones
- Earth-Shattering Staff Strike: A devastating Golden Cudgel attack that breaks Luo Tian’s Qi Armor, but drains Chen Hao enough to render him unconscious during its first use 76.
- Overlord Blade Slash: Third-rank spell used to shatter Yun Xian’s Qi Armor and destroy spirit-array apparitions 118 168 189.
- Divine Dragon Tail Whip: Technique obtained when the Dragon Claw Immortal Artifact becomes the Divine Dragon Arm 231.
- Myriad Transformations: Produces controllable combat clones. They cannot cast spells; their number and duration depend on Chen Hao’s strength 206.
- Producing nearly eighty clones consumes enormous spiritual power, leading him to reserve the skill for emergencies 206.
- Sun Wukong’s Monkey Hair provides a separate source of temporary duplicates for distractions and escapes 114 145.
Talisman Inscription and Spirit Arrays
Chen Hao combines immortal talisman knowledge, dragon materials, Samadhi True Fire, and the Spirit-Gathering Array’s energy supply to become a talisman maker 179 180 248.
- Diamond Talisman: Creates armor lasting up to ten seconds, blocking one attack within its defensive capacity 180.
- Evil-Repelling Talisman: Neutralizes the poison controlling Rakshasa’s coerced Qi Refiners 273.
- Studies the Invisibility Talisman as a tool for attacking or retreating 201.
- Recreates the sixth-rank Fiend-Slaying Spirit Array under the Saintess’s guidance, then transforms it into the Dragon Spirit Array with dragon bone, blood, scale, and meat 246 248.
- Places the Golden Cudgel at the array’s center to absorb generated spirits; seeks faster production through the Spirit-Gathering Array 248.
- The seventh-grade Wood Grain pattern initially exceeds his independent drawing ability; the Saintess controls his arms to deploy it during an emergency 214.
Death God’s Scythe
Ghost Gate’s sixth-grade technique creates a massive scythe-bearing apparition using yin spirits and spiritual energy 244 246.
- Attack strength increases with the available yin spirit power 246.
- Without that resource, Chen Hao estimates it cannot release even a tenth of its full strength 246.
- He identifies the Golden Cudgel as a substitute for the Fiend-Slaying Cauldron’s spirit-storage function 246.
Thunder God Art and Electric Crystal Source
A fifth-grade immortal technique normally suited to Golden Immortals; the Electric Crystal allows Chen Hao to use its first two realms safely 290.
- Masters earth thunder and heaven thunder; immortal thunder remains too dangerous 290.
- Converts water into Electric Crystal Source, a finite electrical material suitable for commercial batteries 290.
- His first earth-thunder experiment draws electricity from a ten-kilometer radius, causing outages and draining devices 290.
- Preliminary batteries last over one hundred times longer than conventional ones 290.
- Electric Crystals later power defensive cannons and the rebuilding society beneath the Sky Curtains 377 397.
Elemental Power and Cultivation
- Wood: Receives Wood Grain recognition, enhanced wood spells, and control of nearby wooden objects 150.
- Water: Python’s water essence settles in his kidneys 257.
- Metal: Absorbs the Metal-Type Spirit Source into his lungs 377.
- Telekinesis: Qi Controlling Realm grants Remote Object Retrieval and control of spiritual power outside his body 257.
- Core Formation requirement: Must gather all five elemental powers and merge them into the corresponding internal organs 366.
- Earlier access to Wood Grain and Samadhi True Fire is not presented as completed absorption: later passages still require him to master wood power and safely devour a fire source 377.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Crescent Pendant / miniature Guanghan Palace — Soul-bound palace realm containing a Spirit-Gathering Array. Damage to the palace can seriously injure Chen Hao. Restoration progresses through 2%, 5%, 28%, and 55% before its seal is lifted; he later releases the palace onto Heavenly Gate’s island 69 95 118 147 173 294.
- Golden Cudgel — Initially called the Counterfeit Golden Cudgel; a growth-type Immortal Artifact that consumes soul forms. It accidentally begins refining Qin Meng until Chen Hao stops it. At advanced grade, further upgrading requires Three Realms Sacred Fire 76 206.
- Dragon Claw Immortal Artifact / Divine Dragon Arm — Forged by Supreme Lord Lao from a dragon claw using Samadhi True Fire, then upgraded by a dragon tendon. Enables him to handle the fire through an artifact rather than direct bodily contact 149 231 377.
- Ancient Blade — Restored third-rank spirit artifact that enters his arm and grants Overlord Blade Slash 118.
- Spell Ring — First-rank spirit artifact recovered from Lü Qingzhou’s severed hand. Used in the Lu Association takeover, then given to Sen Tai to protect Chen Hao’s allies 116 120 121.

- Qiankun Bag — Stores and retrieves supernatural books, artifacts, and supplies 46 130 248.
- Healing furnace ash and Peach Blossom Wine — Eight Trigrams Furnace ash rapidly heals wounds; Peach Blossom Wine prolongs life and supports medical treatment. Both underpin his early business ambitions 15 29 40.
- Samadhi True Fire and its talismans — Powerful offensive and crafting resources. Direct absorption remains dangerous even after he learns to control the fire through his weapons 175 180 377.
- Purple Thunder Pearls — Thunder God’s experimental batch fails against Luo Tian; Chen Hao later buys twenty improved pearls 78 130.
- Dragon remains — Meat feeds CC; scales provide protection and talisman material; bone amplifies Xiang Wencun’s sonic attacks; blood replenishes the Stone Statue Ghoul 179 229 328.
- Six-Winged Stone Statue Ghoul — Extremely durable earthfire-rock construct capable of blocking Earth-Shattering Staff Strike with one hand. Requires dragon blood to restore depleted power 224 229.
- Water-Repelling Pearls — Buys one mother pearl and receives two child pearls for 100,000 Daoist Merit Points. They permit underwater movement, create dry refuges, and block water-based attacks; one child pearl goes to Qin Yumo 296 302.
- Stone Soldier Formation — Places Formation Stones around Heavenly Gate’s island shore; activation requires many souls 296.
- Nuwa’s clay figure — Replacement body delivered after his mortal resurrection, following Sun Wukong’s proposal that Nuwa create one 403 404.

- Saintess Remnant Soul — Supernatural adviser and technical mentor in Wood Grain and spirit arrays. Helps him complete the Dragon Spirit Array 150 214 246 248.
- Fang Lei and Fang Ying — Kirin allies. Fang Lei repeatedly advocates for Chen Hao’s abilities; Fang Ying welcomes him warmly during their reunions 78 153 183.
- Wang Jian — Qi Refiner won over during the Rakshasa infiltration; becomes a trusted intermediary for distributing poison-neutralizing talismans 231 273.
Divine Contacts and Rivals
- Sun Wukong — Supplies techniques, Monkey Hair, and crucial advice; later proposes Nuwa’s replacement body 35 130 145 403.

- Thunder God — Supplies unreliable experimental weapons, improved pearls, and the Thunder God Art 78 130 290.

- Wu Daozi and Yuan Kai — Established leaders whose resistance becomes an obstacle to Qi Refiner unification. Chen Hao defeats their joint challenge and asserts authority over Capital Gate and Kirin 292 302 304.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Zhonghai: Medicine, Business, and the Underworld
Chen Hao’s medical success turns social contempt into influence: Chu Jinliang seats him as an honored guest and asks Mayor Jia Zhengyi to protect him. Meanwhile, Liu Yan’s company develops Blue Light Potion using his supernatural resources. He negotiates regular furnace-ash supplies rather than relying on a limited initial stock 29 40 45.
Black Tiger Society harassment prompts him to investigate its businesses and use official support against it. His expanding supernatural network also brings Qin Meng into his life; her identification of Wang Xuemin connects her family’s murder to Blue Light’s business troubles 40 45 73 78.
The Qin Family and Lu Association
While treating Elder Qin, Chen Hao discovers a Gu Technique and becomes involved in defending the Qin estate against the Lu Association. CC kills Lü Qingzhou, but Cloud Valley Adept escapes and Qin Xiao dies from his injuries 106 111 116.
Chen Hao exploits the resulting power vacuum by impersonating Lü Qingzhou, forcing the elders to accept Long Guangsheng and Haizi as managers. He then seeks a Gu-Removing Technique in Yunjiang to save Elder Qin 120 121 130 178.
Yunjiang and the First Major Breakthroughs
At Nine Blades, the fight with Sacred Hall forces Chen Hao to activate Giant Spirit Art and advance into the Third Realm. Wood Grain recognizes him, and the Saintess’s remnant soul becomes an important adviser 145 146 147 150.
His later involvement with the Yun family secures access to yellow dragon jade marrow, helps free Yun Tian from a long-standing cultivation problem, and transforms Yun Sheng’s prospects. Yun Sheng promises to provide him with the finest jade 170 173 177 178.
Rakshasa Infiltration and Defeat
After declining formal command of the anti-Rakshasa operation, Chen Hao faces retaliation that threatens his own family. A disastrous Alliance ambush kills Elder Qin and gravely injures Chu Jinliang, ending Chen Hao’s attempt to remain outside the wider conflict 187 218 225.
He volunteers to infiltrate the enemy, enters Ghost Gate through Wang Jian’s group, and conceals his progress while learning its techniques. Ancient Dragon’s crisis brings him into battle against Rakshasa’s four gate masters; by his return, Chu Jinliang learns that all four have been eliminated 227 231 244 248 267 273.
Rather than abandoning Rakshasa’s coerced followers, Chen Hao offers treatment and a conditional chance to reform 273.
Heavenly Gate and Qin Yumo’s Fate
Chen Hao accepts responsibility for leading Huaxia’s Qi Refiners. Horse Face’s warning that Qin Yumo will die in thirty days accelerates his plans: he establishes Heavenly Gate, installs Guanghan Palace on its island, and builds defenses and a hidden underwater refuge 291 292 294 296.
The founding ceremony becomes a public contest for authority. After defeating Wu Daozi and Yuan Kai, Chen Hao declares that Heavenly Gate will direct Capital Gate and Kirin. Qin Yumo nevertheless dies, and he refuses to accept the loss, preparing an overseas journey to seek Michelle’s help in bringing her back 302 304 308 309.
Global Crisis and the Sky Curtains
Chen Hao’s overseas activities include strengthening his allies with dragon treasures, obtaining the Infinite Heavenly Spirit, and confronting the Yamata Society to recover CC. He continues collecting elemental resources while Huaxia prepares defenses powered by his Electric Crystals 328 332 366 377.
As catastrophe spreads, he becomes central to the Sky Curtain plan—the protective system survivors regard as their chance to live. He declines leadership of the sheltered New World in favor of Qin Yumo, spends unusually tender time with his parents, and records a farewell-like video before announcing that he will solve the barriers’ mounting problems alone 384 397 398.
Resurrection and Rebuilding
Chen Hao returns to his loved ones after the great purge and names the day of his resurrection New Era Year 001. A few hundred thousand survivors begin rebuilding under his leadership, despite his initial loss of cultivation powers 401 403.
The Heavenly Tribulation has reopened the sealed Three Realms Passage. Through Horse Face and Sun Wukong, Chen Hao seeks a body made by Nuwa and subsequently regains extraordinary strength. Even that power leaves him uncertain how to prevent Earth’s continuing destruction 403 404 406.
