After lunch, Liu Yan took Chen Hao to a nearby shopping district to buy him a decent outfit.
Tonight's banquet would be packed with big names. There was no way she could let Chen Hao attend in a tracksuit and sneakers.
As they walked, Chen Hao felt a little awkward.
Perhaps Liu Yan's presence was simply too striking. Following behind her made him look like one of her lackeys, which left him feeling decidedly uncomfortable.
They had barely entered the mall when a man dressed head to toe in trendy designer brands and wearing sunglasses recognized Liu Yan. "Well, if it isn't Liu Yan! What a coincidence!"
Liu Yan clearly knew him too, but she didn't seem particularly interested. She merely replied coolly, "Oh, Young Master Pang."
Young Master Pang smiled. "That's right. My family invested in this shopping district, so I came to check on things. I never expected to run into you here. We must have quite a connection."
Liu Yan gave a dry chuckle.
Anyone with even a little awareness could have seen her impatience.
Young Master Pang, however, apparently couldn't. He continued trying to get friendly with her. "By the way, you're attending tonight's banquet too, right? My dad and I will be there. How about I pick you up?"
Before Liu Yan could answer, Chen Hao suddenly spoke up from behind her. "No need to trouble yourself, Young Master Pang."
Only then did Young Master Pang notice Chen Hao behind her. "Who are you?" he asked, his tone unfriendly.
Chen Hao deliberately cleared his throat loudly, stepped forward, and slung an arm around Liu Yan's shoulders. Lifting his chin high, he said, "Glad you asked. Chen Hao, Liu Yan's boyfriend."
Chen Hao's sudden move left Liu Yan thoroughly embarrassed, and her face flushed at once.
