Chen Hao took the suit and pretended to inspect it over and over. Then he caught a button with his left hand and gave it a little tug, forcibly ripping it off.
"Oh, sorry. I accidentally pulled this button off."
Both sales assistants' expressions changed instantly.
Every suit here was handmade. Even a single damaged button meant shipping it back to America by air for repairs. The round-trip shipping alone might cost more than both assistants' base salaries combined.
"Wh-what do we do now?"
Looking at the two assistants' pale, frightened faces, Chen Hao smiled. "We're reasonable people. If we damage something, we pay its full price. We'll buy this suit."
Their expressions eased a little, only to become troubled again a moment later.
Chen Hao said nonchalantly, "If you still won't sell it, we'll be leaving."
Without giving them any time to think, he took Liu Yan's hand and started toward the exit.
Seeing them leave, both assistants called out almost in unison, "Wait!"
Were they kidding? A suit cost hundreds of thousands, and repairs alone would run into the tens of thousands. How could they possibly afford that?
If the repairs went well, that would be one thing. But if they didn't, were they supposed to pay hundreds of thousands out of their own pockets? Nobody wanted to be stuck footing that bill.
Orders from above were one thing, but in a situation like this, low-level employees would still put their immediate interests first.
Seeing them panic, Chen Hao and Liu Yan exchanged a smile, then went back to pay by card.
It wasn't that they absolutely had to buy clothes from Pang's store. It was a matter of pride. Bottling up that anger would only make them sick.
Meanwhile, Pang Jiawei had already jumped up in fury
