With Lu Xuanqing carrying him into the sky, Liu Xing could gaze farther north. Just as he was wondering what lay there, a sudden rumble echoed through his divine sense. The sleeping Spirit-Devouring Beast awakened once more, and a vast web of divine sense woven from silver threads stretched into the distance.
This time, the divine sense had a clear target: north, farther north, and farther north still!
In an instant, the divine sense crossed hundreds of li and reached the boundary between the Frozen Earth Plains and the Frozen Ocean.
What appeared within Liu Xing's divine sense was an endless, desolate expanse of frozen ocean. The howling wind seemed capable of freezing even the air, casting the entire world in a haze of white.
Waves surged across the sea. Only a few small white specks appeared intermittently in the distance, and he could not tell whether they were corners of glaciers or enormous floating blocks of ice.
The divine sense paused briefly, then stretched out over the boundless Frozen Ocean without hesitation.
Before it had traveled far beyond the coastline, Liu Xing could see through his divine sense that another white line was surging southward across the distant Frozen Ocean.
This white line moved somewhat slower than the fleeing Ice-Horned Bears, but its sky-blotting, earth-engulfing momentum surpassed the Beast Tide countless times over!
For this white line spanned the entire boundless Frozen Ocean!
Nothing could hide from the probing divine sense. Liu Xing immediately realized that this advancing white line was actually an enormous glacier!
The glacier was unimaginably vast, covering the entire Frozen Ocean.
In truth, "covering" was not entirely accurate. Rather, any seawater the glacier touched instantly froze solid, becoming a new part of the glacier and causing it to grow ever larger at an unimaginable speed.
And viewed from afar, this freezing process actually formed that swiftly advancing white line across the sea!
In a flash, a word crossed Liu Xing's mind: Devouring!
Yes, devouring! Only that word could truly describe the scene Liu Xing witnessed through his divine sense.
The glacier expanded rapidly, as though it were devouring the entire ocean. Once it had devoured the ocean, would even the land be unable to escape?
In the end, would all of Connors Star become a glacier?
This was not impossible. Many planets had experienced an ice age, a unique transformation of the natural environment that could turn an entire world into a realm of ice and snow.
However, such an ice age required tens of millions of years of climatic change to form gradually. It could never spread from north to south as swiftly as what Liu Xing was witnessing through his divine sense.
The divine sense continued probing ahead and soon discovered a moving figure amid the deathly still glacier!
It was an Ice-Horned Bear, but it was different from an ordinary one.
It stood nearly four meters tall, fully twice the height of an ordinary Ice-Horned Bear, and its long fur could not conceal its bulging muscles. Although Ice-Horned Bears possessed immense strength, their bodies were round and plump, much like those of ordinary bears. They should not have had such pronounced muscles.
If he had to describe it, this towering Ice-Horned Bear was like the Hulk of its kind. Both its size and its musculature far exceeded anything common sense could account for.
The Icehorn Giant Bear strode straight ahead, one great step after another. Whether it was an illusion or not, each step seemed to make the entire glacier tremble, forming an enormous white ring of light beneath its feet that spread outward in every direction.
Thick streams of white breath continually blasted from the Icehorn Giant Bear's mouth and nostrils. These breaths were as cold as absolute zero, making them look less like gas than clumps of ice fragments being endlessly spewed out.
The divine sense rapidly gathered and wound around the Icehorn Giant Bear, as though seeking to inspect every strand of fur and every scrap of flesh and blood.
In the end, however, the divine sense remained outside the Icehorn Giant Bear's body, unable to penetrate it. Then it settled slightly, keeping a tight lock on the Icehorn Giant Bear!
Just what sort of monster was this Icehorn Giant Bear? Could this monster have created such an enormous glacier? Since the Spirit-Devouring Beast's divine sense had locked onto this monster, that was proof enough that it was anything but ordinary. The key to this upheaval of heaven and earth lay with it!
But how could anyone withstand such might?
Without realizing it, Liu Xing's palms had become drenched in sweat.
Though all this took time to describe, it happened in only an instant within Liu Xing's divine sense. Seeing his face suddenly turn ashen, Lu Xuanqing could not help asking with concern, "What's wrong? Have you thought of something? Do we still need to keep investigating farther north?"
Liu Xing could not tell Lu Xuanqing what he had seen through his divine sense. He could only say with absolute conviction, "I'm certain the upheaval is coming from farther north. We have to go and find out exactly what's happening!"
Lu Xuanqing nodded without replying. She stirred up a fierce wind and carried Liu Xing straight north.
Lu Xuanqing traveled on the wind, so carrying Liu Xing required little additional effort. Taking him along this way also allowed him to conserve his strength.
Although Liu Xing kept the Wood Vein Spirit Fruit close to his body, allowing it to supply an endless stream of life energy and rapidly restore his stamina so that even nonstop sprinting would not tire him, he knew that once they reached the sea, he lacked the ability to perform Treading the Waves. He would still have to trouble Lu Xuanqing to carry him through the air, so he might as well let her carry him now and save the hassle.
Before long, Lu Xuanqing had carried Liu Xing to the boundary between the Frozen Earth Plains and the Frozen Ocean.
By now, the enormous glacier had already approached the coastline. Without flying any farther, Lu Xuanqing could clearly see the white line that could turn everything into a glacier racing toward them from the horizon.
Even though Lu Xuanqing was a cultivator, the sight of this natural transformation that defied all reason still made her expression change before the might of heaven and earth.
With Lu Xuanqing's cultivation, even the freezing of all Connors Star would not affect her. Yet an irrepressible fear still rose in her heart:
Even if a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator were here, could their tremendous supernatural powers cause such an upheaval of heaven and earth?
