Lu Xuanqing and Bai Hengqiu, who had remained on Connors Star all this time, were experiencing something quite different.
They lacked the Spirit-Devouring Beast's eye of divine sense and could only sense the fluctuations of their auras from afar. When the two auras blazed to their peaks almost simultaneously, they knew the two Nascent Soul Realm experts had finally begun fighting in earnest.
At this level, Lu Xuanqing and Bai Hengqiu's cultivation was insufficient to perceive any changes within the battle. They could only wait anxiously.
Although the battle was taking place in outer space, the scattered energy still reached Connors Star. Almost simultaneously, Lu Xuanqing and Bai Hengqiu saw the clouds overhead begin churning violently, turning into a dense expanse of black ink.
Lightning flickered faintly within the heavy clouds, which pressed lower and lower, as though they could no longer withstand the pressure from above and would ultimately fall to the ground.
Both Lu Xuanqing and Bai Hengqiu had fairly frequent contact with Nascent Soul Realm experts in their daily lives, but this was their first time experiencing a battle between them.
Even with their cultivation, they had never imagined that a battle between Nascent Soul Realm experts could unleash such terrifying might. No wonder the Cultivation World had long held that, against a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator, overwhelming numbers were utterly useless unless an expert of the same realm took the field.
Although above the Nascent Soul Realm lay the legendary Spirit Division Realm, whose cultivators could supposedly ascend, the Nascent Soul Realm alone already represented the limit of what cultivators could imagine.
After all, humanity's footprints now spanned the entire Milky Way Galaxy. If the legendary ascension truly existed, where else could one fly? Where could one ascend to?
Faced with the power of Nascent Soul Realm experts, neither Lu Xuanqing nor Bai Hengqiu could muster even a trace of resistance. They could only wait quietly for Sun Yanbo and Lu Yangong to decide the outcome, then see what arrangements the victor would make.
Lu Yangong and Sun Yanbo had been fellow disciples for hundreds of years, and they were intimately familiar with each other's strength and cultivation arts.
Resolute by nature and obsessed with swordsmanship, Sun Yanbo had devoted himself to cultivating the Overlord Sword Strike technique within the Heavenly Demon Art. With the support of the Overlord Sword, his sect's guardian spirit sword, his execution of the Heavenly Demon Overlord Sword Strike had truly reached the perfection of a fire burning pure green, possessing immense power that could make heaven and earth change color.
Although Lu Yangong had cultivated for over a hundred years longer than Sun Yanbo, as he himself had said, he had dabbled in too many miscellaneous disciplines, leaving his actual strength inferior to Sun Yanbo's.
Especially with the Overlord Sword in Sun Yanbo's hand, Lu Yangong could only transform into rainbow light and clash with him head-on. Every collision took an enormous toll on Lu Yangong, and even as a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator, he could not sustain this for long.
Sun Yanbo had been puzzled all along. Knowing his strength was inferior, why had Lu Yangong still chosen to fight him head-on?
With Lu Yangong's knowledge of formations, he was fully capable of fleeing far away without suffering any injury. But once they engaged in such a head-on battle, it would be difficult to bring things to a close without a victor.
From what Sun Yanbo knew of Lu Yangong, his eldest senior brother would never indulge in such hot-blooded bravado. Could he have another move up his sleeve?
Out of caution, Sun Yanbo held some strength in reserve. This left him and Lu Yangong evenly matched from the outset, and their battle dragged on longer and longer.
Buying time was precisely Lu Yangong's aim. Even before Sun Yanbo caught up to him, Lu Yangong had known that his true fighting strength was no match for this junior brother's. But given enough time to unleash his trump card, Sun Yanbo would almost certainly end up defeated and dead.
The position and angle of every head-on clash Lu Yangong made against Sun Yanbo had been meticulously calculated. Although Sun Yanbo remained on his guard, he failed to notice that even when Lu Yangong transformed into rainbow light, a faint mist drifted from that light after every collision.
When Nascent Soul Realm experts fought, their bodies could merge with the entire universe. Vast quantities of energy rapidly cycled between abundance and depletion through their bodies, forming a bridge to the universe's spiritual energy and ensuring that every strike contained an immense amount of spiritual energy, bringing their offensive power to its peak.
As spiritual energy flowed in and out, a considerable amount of the faint mist Lu Yangong released was drawn into Sun Yanbo's body along with it.
The mist was colorless and odorless, with no energy properties whatsoever. In the heat of battle, Sun Yanbo noticed nothing amiss. Lu Yangong, meanwhile, gritted his teeth and struggled to hold on, knowing that if he endured just a little longer, Sun Yanbo would collapse into defeat without another blow!
Sure enough, as their battle wore on, the streak of black rainbow light Sun Yanbo had become suddenly slowed. After another violent collision with Lu Yangong, Sun Yanbo abruptly retreated, revealing his physical form.
Beads of sweat the size of beans covered Sun Yanbo's head and face. Even his black robe was drenched as though it had been washed. His earlier fierce, domineering air had vanished without a trace, and he instead resembled a sick man utterly spent from exhaustion.
"You... what exactly did you do?" Sun Yanbo demanded of Lu Yangong, gasping for breath.
Lu Yangong also withdrew his ability to transform into rainbow light. With a smug smile, he said, "Junior Brother Sun, you'd better conserve your strength rather than transmit your voice privately. After all, once you've been afflicted with the heavenly decline of the five signs, no matter how abundant the spiritual energy in your body is, you can't afford to expend it."
Sun Yanbo exclaimed in shock and fury, "The heavenly decline of the five signs?! Where did you get that legendary poison, the most vicious of all poisons to cultivators?"
Lu Yangong laughed heartily. "Knowing a wide range of miscellaneous disciplines isn't entirely useless. Although the heavenly decline of the five signs is a thing of legend, I found a method for refining it in an ancient formula. Unfortunately, something that defies heaven like this is incredibly difficult to refine. I poured everything I had into it and produced only a single dose. I originally intended to use it against that scoundrel Lu Yanzhen, but who could have known you would insist on making trouble for me, Junior Brother Sun? Without the heavenly decline of the five signs, I would be no match for your Overlord Sword."
At this point, Lu Yangong's face was brimming with smug satisfaction, while Sun Yanbo had also calmed down, his expression no longer as panicked as it had been at first.
