Shin strengthened his household and shaped Konoha’s new teams while preparing for Orochimaru’s plans during the Chunin Exams. The arc left him meeting a mysterious woman after giving Hinata a way to escape danger.

• Shin brought Yugito to Ichiraku, where Ayame revealed her lingering feelings by giving him extra ramen toppings and recalling his childhood promise to marry her.
• Shin helped Tsunade manage her pregnancy and welcomed Izumi and Ye as his concubines, while considering the dangers threatening his family.
• Shin and Tsunade arranged the graduating students’ teams, placing Naruto, Sasuke, and Karin under Kakashi and assigning Shin to lead Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji.
• Naruto graduated after learning the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique, and Tsunade announced the new team assignments despite Asuma’s objections.
• Shin met Team 10 and explained that their test would be a formality, while Kakashi tested Naruto, Sasuke, and Karin’s resolve.
• Kabuto returned with Orochimaru’s plans and a scroll of Impure World Reincarnation, then chose to continue spying after Shin revealed that Nonō was pregnant with his child.
• Nonō agreed to move back into Shin’s household, while Tsunade worried about Mei Terumi’s interest in Shin.
• Kurenai revealed her Kage-level strength to Hinata, and Shin gave Hinata a space mark for emergencies before calling a black-haired, red-eyed woman out of the woods.

Shin Uchiha revealed Itachi’s future and arranged for him to fake his family’s murder so he could infiltrate the Akatsuki, leaving Sasuke grieving and determined to grow stronger. Shin then used Rinne Rebirth to restore Kushina Uzumaki, Pakura of Scorch Release, Yahiko, and Senju Nawaki, after the Sage of Six Paths warned him against using the technique lightly.

• Shin Uchiha showed Itachi visions of the clan massacre, then tasked him with staging Mikoto’s death, leaving Sasuke behind, and infiltrating the Akatsuki.
• Itachi made Sasuke believe he had killed their parents, defeated him with Tsukuyomi, and left Konoha as an S-rank rogue ninja while Shin took Sasuke to Tsunade.
• Sasuke woke grieving his family, learned that Yuta and Kana were missing, and trusted Shin to bring Itachi back before asking Shin to train him.
• Shin asked Konan to recruit Itachi and pair him with Kisame, then reassured her that he could use Rinne Rebirth without dying and promised to restore Yahiko.
• Shin and Tsunade prepared a resurrection on a deserted island, where Shin used Impure World Reincarnation and Rinne Rebirth to revive four people.
• The Sage of Six Paths confronted Shin over Rinne Rebirth, warned him of its risks, restored his vitality, and gave him knowledge of Yin-Yang Release.
• Kushina Uzumaki, Pakura of Scorch Release, Yahiko, and Senju Nawaki awakened, and Tsunade embraced Nawaki as he comforted her.

Shin revived Nawaki, Kushina, and Yahiko, reuniting them with their loved ones while drawing Kushina and Kōrei closer to him. Back in Konoha, he arranged Nawaki’s training and turned Team 7’s Land of Waves escort into a joint operation against Gato, then prepared to accompany Naruto and Sasuke on their first distant mission.

• Tsunade introduced the revived Nawaki to Shin, and Shin later revived Kushina after preparing her for life without Minato and Naruto.
• Shin showed Kushina and Xiangling visions of Naruto’s future, then used Kotoamatsukami to redirect Kushina’s feelings from Minato to himself.
• Shin brought Kushina and Xiangling to his spatial realm, where Yugito learned Kushina had been the Nine-Tails jinchūriki and agreed to treat her considerately.
• Shin gave Nawaki knowledge and training in the Lightning Release Armor and a revised Flying Thunder God Technique, setting goals he had to reach before joining a squad.
• Shin revived Yahiko for Konan, and Yahiko and Nagato reunited before Nagato agreed to hand the Akatsuki back to Yahiko and seek treatment.
• Shin returned to Kushina, who confessed her love for him, while Kōrei remained awake in the next room.
• Tsunade assigned Team 7 to escort Tazuna, but Shin exposed Tazuna’s deception and placed the Land of Waves under Konoha’s jurisdiction in return for a commission.
• Shin made the mission a joint operation against Gato’s forces, arranged for Team 7 and Team 10 to leave with Kakashi, and promised Sasuke further training after the Chunin Exams.

Shin gathered his allies for a mission to protect the Land of Waves, while secretly taking chakra from Gaara and Yugito to advance his Rinnegan. When Kakuzu and Hidan attacked the bridge builders, Konoha’s teams and Shin’s allies drove them off, leaving Kakuzu to abandon Gato’s contract.

• Shin invited Mikoto and Kushina to join the mission, then visited Uchiha Shi and began seeking tailed beast chakra to evolve his Rinnegan.
• Shin entered Sunagakure, subdued Gaara and Shukaku, and absorbed more than a third of the One-Tail’s chakra.
• Shin joined Kakashi’s teams on their journey, taught Naruto the simplified Flying Thunder God Technique and Uzumaki sealing knowledge, and helped defeat Raiga Kurosuki before arranging for Ranmaru to receive care in Konoha.
• The group reached the Land of Waves, where Shin trained Team Ten and told Tazuna that Gato would try to stop construction of the Great Bridge.
• Shin obtained much of Matatabi’s chakra with Yugito’s consent, while Gato’s samurai failed to overcome the young ninja guarding Tazuna’s home.
• Kakuzu and Hidan attacked the bridge, but Shikamaru, Ino, Choji, Kakashi, Naruto, and Sasuke confronted them as Zabuza and Haku joined the fight.
• Kakashi and Zabuza faced Kakuzu while Haku drew Hidan away, and Kakuzu reconsidered his contract after learning Shin was nearby.
• Zabuza filled the battlefield with mist, Kakuzu judged Gato’s payment inadequate, and Kakuzu abandoned the mission by handing the scroll to Kakashi.
