With his tail severed and his body shrunk back to normal, Vegeta panicked.
Never mind Son Goku-he could no longer beat even Raditz or Piccolo.
The earlier battle had drained much of his strength, and after Son Goku cut off his tail, his power level had fallen to thirteen thousand. Raditz had barely expended any energy fighting Nappa and still had a power level of fifteen thousand. Although Piccolo had used some of his strength, his power level remained at eighteen thousand. Vegeta really was no match for either of them now.
Seeing Vegeta like this, Son Goku said, "You can go!"
Taken aback, Vegeta asked, "Kakarot, you're not going to kill me?"
Son Goku said, "I'm not interested in weaklings."
Vegeta flew into a rage. "Damn you, Kakarot! Just you wait! One day, I'll surpass you, and you'll regret this!"
Son Goku smiled. "That day will never come."
Vegeta was furious, but he dared not say anything more. He took out his spaceship's remote, pressed the button, and waited for it to arrive.
Meanwhile, everyone gathered around Son Goku.
Krillin said to Son Goku, "Goku, are you really going to let him go? What if his power level surpasses ours someday?"
Son Goku said confidently, "That day will never come."
Seeing how confident Son Goku was, Krillin said, "All right, Goku. You're the strong one, so it's your call."
Piccolo asked, "Goku, how did you cut off Vegeta's tail just now? All I saw was a flash of sword light, and his tail was severed. What happened?"
Son Goku said, "That was a special technique I've been practicing, called Qi-to-Sword. I condense my ki into the shape of a sword, then launch it with telekinesis."
"I see," Piccolo said.
Krillin said, "That move is a little like my Destructo Disc. I condense my ki into a disc, then throw it to cut through the enemy."
Son Goku nodded. "That's right."
In truth, this technique was still very different from Krillin's Destructo Disc.
Condensing ki into a sword was easy, but controlling it with telekinesis was difficult. In the original story, Son Goku had struggled to move even a glass of water with telekinesis while lying in the hospital, let alone an intangible ki sword.

Raditz asked Son Goku, "What should we do with Nappa?"
Son Goku turned to Vegeta. "Vegeta, don't you want your lackey anymore?"
Vegeta said, "What use do I have for worthless trash like him? Do whatever you want."
Unsurprised, Son Goku said to Raditz, "I'll leave Nappa to you. When he wakes up, explain Earth's rules to him."
Raditz rubbed his hands together eagerly. "No problem, Kakarot."
Son Goku thought nothing more of it.
Just then, Vegeta's spaceship arrived. Vegeta glanced at Son Goku, then climbed inside and flew away.
After watching him leave, Son Goku returned to Bulma's house with everyone else.
Having witnessed Vegeta's strength, everyone began training twice as hard.
When Nappa woke up and learned that Vegeta had abandoned him, he was bitterly disappointed. Then he looked at Raditz, Piccolo, and Son Goku and trembled with fear.
Fortunately, Raditz explained the rules to him afterward. Only when Nappa learned that none of them intended to kill him did he relax.
After that, Nappa joined the others in training in the Gravity Room.
Son Goku went alone to Kami's Lookout to ask Kami to introduce him to North Kai.

When North Kai saw Son Goku, he asked, "Who are you, and why have you come here?"
Son Goku said, "My name is Son Goku. I'm a martial artist from Earth, and I've come specifically to train under you, King Kai."
North Kai said, "I see. All right, but you'll have to pass my tests before you can train with me."
Son Goku said, "No problem."
Son Goku then told a few jokes and successfully made North Kai laugh. After that, it took him only moments to catch Bubbles and strike Gregory with a hammer.
North Kai praised Son Goku's strength, then began teaching him the Kaioken. Son Goku mastered it in just three days.
Then he began using the Kaioken.
Son Goku unleashed his full aura and shouted, "Double Kaioken!" A red aura enveloped his entire body.
Sensing Son Goku's power, North Kai was utterly stunned, cold sweat pouring down his forehead.
Far away on Earth, everyone was shocked when they sensed this aura. Only then did they understand the gap between Son Goku and themselves.
On King Kai's Planet, Son Goku felt the power coursing around him, then slowly began increasing the Kaioken's multiplier.
When he reached hundredfold Kaioken, Son Goku felt a slight swelling sensation in his body. Knowing he had reached his limit, he stopped increasing the multiplier. Maintaining hundredfold Kaioken, he began throwing punches and kicks.
Half an hour later, Son Goku began feeling pain in his body. He released the Kaioken and let out a long breath.
He said to North Kai, "Thank you for your guidance over the past few days, King Kai."
North Kai said, "You're too kind, Goku. I'm delighted that you can use the Kaioken at such a high multiplier. It looks like my technique will truly flourish in your hands."
Son Goku said, "It's all thanks to your excellent teaching, King Kai."
"No, no," North Kai said. "Goku, it's your talent and strength that allow you to bring out the Kaioken's potential."
Son Goku nodded. "Then I'll take my leave, King Kai. I'll come visit you again in a few days."
North Kai said, "Goku, I have another special technique called the Spirit Bomb. Don't you want to learn it?"
Son Goku said, "King Kai, I'm already satisfied with learning the Kaioken. A person shouldn't be too greedy."
North Kai praised him. "Goku, you truly are a man of noble character."
Son Goku said, "You flatter me, King Kai. If there's nothing else, I'll be going."
North Kai nodded. Son Goku used Instant Transmission and returned to Earth with a whoosh.
North Kai exclaimed in shock, "That was the Yardratians' Instant Transmission! I never imagined Goku had learned that too."
