Before long, only several Lord Gods of the Netherworld remained. The Death Sovereign ordered, "Everyone, according to the rules of the Plane Battlefield, reward the Commanders and soldiers who participated."
"Yes, Sovereign." The five Death Lord Gods of the Netherworld bowed.
At that moment, one Lord God suddenly said, "Sovereign, there is something I discovered when I entered the Plane Battlefield earlier. I did not pay much attention to it at the time, but it may be related to Sean, the Paragon Highgod."
"Kushih, what is it?" The Death Sovereign was in an excellent mood as well and asked with a faint smile.
Lord God Kushih said, "The Four Divine Beasts Family has sent people to the Nine Nether Domain. There are around forty Seven-Star Demons, as well as seven emissaries of the Four Divine Beasts."
"They came to my Nine Nether Domain?" The Death Sovereign quickly understood. "It seems they intend to surround and kill Sean."
The other Lord Gods naturally understood as well. One of them said, "They definitely do not know that Sean has become a Paragon. This will be quite a show."
The Lord Gods did not care about the arrogance of the Four Divine Beasts Family, but the Four Divine Beasts Lord Gods were equally arrogant. They even looked down on the Edict Sovereigns, so these Lord Gods had naturally suffered their share of indignities.
Another Lord God said, "Sovereign, Paragon Sean is extremely important to our Netherworld. Nothing can happen to him. What do you think?"
The Death Sovereign nodded. "All right, I understand. I will inform Sean later. The proper limits must indeed be observed."
At the junction between the planar passage and the battlefield belonging to the Netherworld, Sean flew out.
"Haha, Sean." Leis Jing, Audebeu, and Torres flew over. "Congratulations! A Paragon—how truly enviable."
As a Lord God descendant, Leis Jing naturally knew the gap between a Paragon and a peak Commander. It was likely far greater than the gap between a peak Commander and a Seven-star Demon. At the pinnacle of godhood, even Lord Gods and Sovereigns would treat one with courtesy.
Under normal circumstances, even as a Lord God descendant, he would have to show a Paragon due respect.
"Mr. Sean." Torres smiled as well.
"What's with this 'Mr.' nonsense? Just call me Sean. We're all friends." Sean waved his hand with a smile.
They had known one another before and could be considered friends. There was no need for him to put on airs just because he had become a Paragon; as for people he did not know, being addressed as "sir" was naturally unavoidable. It was a symbol of status.
Audebeu laughed. "Haha, that's great. From now on, I can say that I know a Paragon Highgod."
Befriending a Paragon Highgod gave a God-level expert even greater deterrence than gaining a Lord God's favor.
After all, unless one was a Lord God descendant, if one was killed, one was simply dead. Even if a Lord God thought highly of a subordinate, they could not possibly avenge them after their death. But if someone was a Paragon's friend, every other force would have to consider whether they might face the Paragon's retaliation.
Torres was also delighted. The four gathered and chatted for a while before flying toward the military camp belonging to the Netherworld.
"Mr. Sean."
Along the way, quite a few Netherworld Commanders and Prefect Lords approached Sean and the others in succession, but Sean merely nodded politely in acknowledgment. Seeing this, those Commanders did not dare say much.
They understood that befriending Sean before he became a Paragon would certainly have been more than a hundred times easier than it was now. But they could not be blamed. Someone from an ordinary race who had cultivated a single law to its peak was powerful, but among the experts of the Plane Battlefield, they could only be considered rather ordinary.
The true peak experts were often divine beasts who had likewise cultivated laws and rules to their utmost limits. With their innate talents, they were far stronger than experts of ordinary races.
Yet no one could have imagined that Sean would break through to become a Paragon within the planar passage. With that breakthrough, he and they had become beings of entirely different levels.
Leis Jing smiled. "Sean, do not blame them. Even I would want to get close and build some rapport if I encountered a Paragon. It is truly harder to meet a Paragon than a Lord God.
"These Prefect Lords and Commanders can generally see a Lord God from time to time, but even Lord Gods may not know where Paragons are."
"That's true." Sean nodded.
In God Planes or Supreme Planes, Prefect Lords and Commanders received salaries. Usually, after a certain period, Lord Gods would reward them with some Sovereign's Might; as for how much, that depended on the Lord God's mood. At the same time, they could also pay respects to their own Lord Gods.
Leis Jing continued, "Sean, I'm returning to Hell. When you have time in the future, you can come to my Purple Thorn Mountain Range. There are many sights there that cannot be seen in other God Planes."
"Sure. I have long heard of the wonders of the Purple Thorn Mist Sea." Sean agreed.
He had visited Hell in his early years, but he was not insane enough to go to a place where Lord Gods lived. If he accidentally offended a Lord God, that would be far too unjust a death.
Half a day later, the Netherworld army prepared to withdraw. Sean, Audebeu, Torres, and the others also headed toward the passage entrance. Naturally, they did not need to queue, and no one dared approach to disturb them.
Those who had wanted to approach and befriend Sean had already been turned away, so the others would not make fools of themselves. What if this newly ascended Paragon was temperamental? If they annoyed him and he casually killed them, would that not be a terrible loss? Especially those who cultivated the Death Rule—many of them had bad tempers.
As they neared the passage entrance, the others immediately made way when they saw Sean approaching.
Just then, a figure suddenly appeared before Sean and bowed. "Lord Sean, I am the patriarch of the Ashcroft Family. I have something to discuss with Mr. Sean."
Seeing someone so bold, the others immediately gathered nearby to watch the show.
"Ashcroft Family? You are a divine beast, a Nether Snake?" Sean asked.
Nether Snake Bach replied, "Yes."
"What is it?" Sean asked.
If it had been an ordinary person, he might not have bothered with them. But the Nether Snake had appeared in the original story and was also an enemy of the Four Divine Beasts Family, so Sean naturally wanted to see what he was after.
"This matter can only be discussed through divine sense." After saying that, the Nether Snake sent mentally, "Mr. Sean, I have some information. The Four Divine Beasts Family has dispatched many experts to the Nine Nether Domain of the Netherworld. They intend to ambush you when you leave the Plane Battlefield."
"Ambush me? Interesting." Sean smiled, then asked, "Do you know who has come?"
The Nether Snake replied mentally, "I do not know where they are, but several emissaries of the Four Divine Beasts Lord Gods should have come, along with quite a few clan elders."
"All right, thank you." Sean replied. "I will remember this."
He had only broken through to become a Paragon less than a day ago, and very few people outside knew of it. Therefore, this ambush was certainly aimed at who he had been before.
"Mr. Sean is our Netherworld's Paragon. Being able to serve you is also my honor." The Nether Snake sent mentally with a smile.
He was extremely pleased. It was not merely because Sean now owed him a small favor; more importantly, he would soon get to watch his mortal enemies from the Four Divine Beasts Family kick an iron plate.
