Half a month later, on the night of the full moon, Sean joined the large group of several hundred people heading toward the gates of Nether Mountain.
The moment they left the hotel, quite a few people followed after them. Then a bearded man snorted coldly, and countless bolts of lightning formed. Amid crackling explosions, more than a dozen Highgods who tried to approach were instantly scorched into charcoal. Their bodies fell, and their divine sparks emerged.
Sean immediately saw that this profound lightning attack contained a Soul Attack. The injuries on those people's bodies were merely superficial—their souls had been directly annihilated. Being able to kill more than a dozen distant Highgods in one move meant he was basically at the level of a Seven-Star Demon.
"Reno, they're just ordinary Highgods. Was there any need to kill them?" A bald, burly man laughed.
The bearded Highgod Reno said coldly, "A bunch of trash who can't even afford to stay at the Nether Hotel—are they worthy of entering Nether Mountain?"
"Ha ha!"
Quite a few people deeply agreed. At the very least, only those with a certain degree of strength were worthy of entering Nether Mountain. Anyone unable to pay ten thousand Nether Stones a day could never be a true expert.
Sean agreed as well. If those people entered Nether Mountain, they would only serve as fertilizer for the trees inside.
Inside the Nether Hotel, the green-robed woman at the counter came over to the red-haired young woman and asked with a smile, "Boss, how many of them do you think will return alive?"
"This batch is fairly strong. At least, among those I know of, there are two Seven-Star Demons, as well as seven or eight Six-Star Demons." The red-haired young woman said calmly, "Perhaps a few will return. But if they insist on climbing the mountain despite knowing they are no match, then perhaps none of them will survive."
"Two Seven-Star Demons? Other than that lightning-element one, who else is there?" the green-robed woman asked in surprise.
The red-haired young woman smiled faintly. "One is a Seven-Star Demon who rose to prominence only within the last hundred million years. His strength should be considered at the peak, though he may have come to Nether Mountain to take refuge."
"Taking refuge? Could it be Sean, the one being hunted by the Four Divine Beasts Family?" the green-robed woman guessed.
In the Netherworld, nearly every Seven-Star Demon was a renowned figure in their region. Over countless trillions of years, there had only ever been so many of them. It might take billions of years for a new one to appear. Sean was precisely the Seven-Star Demon born within the last hundred million years in Hongyang Prefecture of the Nether Continent, and he was among the peak existences. After all, he had defeated several Seven-Star Demons who had long been famous.
The red-haired young woman glanced at her subordinate. "It seems the Four Divine Beasts Family's bounty has tempted you as well?"
"Boss, I only know about it," the green-robed woman hurriedly said.
"He is quite clever. He knows that Nether Mountain is the safest place," the red-haired young woman said indifferently.
The moment Sean entered Nether Mountain, he felt an enormous pressure bearing down on him. The disguise on his face gradually vanished beneath that pressure.
At the same time, he felt a palpitation deep within his soul. His divine sense could not spread, and he could not sense gravity either. It was exactly the same feeling Linley had when entering Nether Mountain in the original work.
The others were in even worse condition than Sean. Quite a few were directly pressed by the immense force until their entire bodies trembled. Only the few Seven-Star and Six-Star experts fared somewhat better.
After looking around, Sean saw nothing but thick white mist and a few small trees. He casually chose a direction and sprinted away. His appearance had been forcibly restored, so there was no need to let those who had entered with him discover it. If any of them recognized him and had a divine clone outside, his whereabouts might be exposed.
The Four Divine Beasts Family might not dare enter Nether Mountain, but they would probably lie in ambush at the only exit. That fun-loving Death Sovereign might not necessarily help him.
Even if he went elsewhere, however, he might still be recognized. In that case, the best option was to obtain a Nether Fruit. As long as he became a Lord God Emissary, he would no longer fear the Four Divine Beasts Family.
Without any sense of direction, Sean could only wander blindly. As long as he encountered others trapped within Nether Mountain, he could plant a Soul Seed in them and learn the location of the Nether Fruit. Or rather, even if those he planted with Soul Seeds did not know, he could use them to find other people and then search for the Nether Fruit.
Whoosh! A streak of green light shot toward him. Although Sean could not spread his divine sense, his awareness of energy fluctuations around him was completely unaffected.
He immediately released a Soul Attack. The green light was directly annihilated, and the little snake's corpse vanished.
According to the original work, these green snakes were created by those two divine beasts through some kind of innate ability. What an incredible talent. Sean made his judgment.
Based on his understanding of the Death Rule, pure profound mysteries alone could not create weapons with an instinct to attack, especially not ones scattered all over the mountains. These little green snakes could easily bite through Linley's scales, something even Seven-star Demons could only barely accomplish.
After looking around, Sean spotted several more green snakes. His figure flashed, and he vanished. He did not wish to keep entangling himself with them. He did not fear their Soul Attacks at all, but their piercing power was too great and their numbers too high. Even his material defense might not be able to withstand them.
After walking for several more days, he occasionally encountered a few little green snakes, which he easily dealt with. When he reached a slope and climbed it, he looked out into the distance and discovered that he seemed to have arrived at the foot of the mountain. Naturally, it was not the gate through which he had entered.
"I refuse to believe I can't reach the Gray Mist Zone." Sean did not really mind.
He was not Linley, anxiously trying to save his family. Staying in Nether Mountain for a million years would not matter much to him. Still, he wanted to obtain a Nether Fruit as soon as possible and become a true peak expert of the God Planes. Then he would no longer fear the Four Divine Beasts Family.
Once he obtained a Defense Sovereign Artifact, aside from Paragons, Sovereigns, and the future Beirut, no one would be able to do anything to him.
A month later, Sean suddenly sensed energy fluctuations in the distance. He immediately approached and discovered several people fighting. What was there to fight over inside Nether Mountain? Sean had no interest in finding out.
After waiting for quite some time, the last person finally killed his opponent. "Ha ha, you're finally dead! Your Space Ring is mine now."
However, before he could bind it, he noticed a burst of energy fluctuations behind him. A Soul Attack struck him directly.
Sean immediately asked, "Do you know where the Gray Mist Zone is?"
"I do," the person with a Soul Seed replied.
Sean said impassively, "Take me there."
With someone to guide him, Sean quickly reached the edge of the Gray Mist Zone. The person with a Soul Seed said, "My lord, I can't enter here. The moment I go in, I'll go mad."
"Very good." After saying that, Sean fired another Soul Attack. The person with a Soul Seed collapsed, while his divine spark and Space Ring were collected.
After finishing, Sean looked toward the Gray Mist Zone ahead and walked straight inside. The moment he entered, he felt a strange influence acting upon his soul, as though it wanted to drive him mad. But at this level, it had no effect on him whatsoever.
