Before this "hero" could stab Kroya with the dagger he had obtained from who knew where, the apprentice Jamie beside him reacted swiftly.
"How dare you!"
Jamie flew into a rage.
"Surrender!"
He was the one who had brought this man here. If someone he had brought tried to assassinate Kroya, his conscience would never let him rest.
First, he unleashed a basic Mana Impact, then cast the Water Rope Spell-a rhomboid Mana Spike struck the man's wrist, making him drop the dagger in pain, while a blue rope of water emerged from the river and bound him as though it had a mind of its own.
The entire process took less than three seconds.
Both his casting speed and his decisiveness left Kroya satisfied and pleased-of course, he had clearly avoided dealing a fatal blow.
That pleased Kroya in particular. Decisiveness in killing could be a good thing, but the situation before them was clearly rather strange.
If they actually killed him, they might lose the chance to learn certain things, which could affect what happened afterward.
As Kroya's first apprentice, Jamie also enjoyed his particular favor.
Although his talent could only be described as average, he had received plenty of resources.
After a period of diligent meditation and training, Jamie was now close to becoming a Second-Level Mage. Dealing with an ordinary man possessed of little more than reckless courage was easy enough.
As for the beavers charging over with shrill squeaks...

Against magical beasts, Kroya hardly needed to make a deliberate effort to cast a spell. He simply manifested his mental power as an oppressive force.
He even incorporated a trace of the "Dragon Might" technique he had learned from the Voidmoon Illusion Fish Dragon.
The poor beavers felt as though they had been struck
