The flowing river water enveloped that light as though they had separated into layers, with water above and light below.
The light was a vibrant, living green.
It darted through the river, seemingly drawing in something to grow stronger.
"Did it work?" Kroya was uncertain. He asked Oak, "Isn't this a little too fast?"
Oak looked thoughtful. "Back when I was still aboard the ship, I heard that Water Magic could give birth to the most spirits because of its unique properties.
"They say the Magic Potions born in the River of Negative Light are actually Water Spirits without spiritual essence.
"The spirits' power automatically gathers the medicinal properties released by different Magic Plants, ultimately becoming usable Magic Potions."
So that really was how it worked. The Elves used spirits as a means of producing special Magic Potions.
Didn't that mean taking these potions was equivalent to eating a spirit? No wonder they worked so well.
Plenty of legends featured a poor boy who stumbled upon some spirit's gift, then suddenly rose to prominence and earned a noble title.
Still, hearing this, Kroya couldn't help frowning. "In other words, these potions are actually spirits' bodies?"
There were many spirits in the Northern Frontier now, and he regarded them as independent lives. Yet the River of Negative Light actually created spirits' bodies to use as potions.
An indescribable feeling immediately welled up in him.
"Yes." Oak spread their hands helplessly. "Although the River of Negative Light can create spirits' bodies, it cannot give them enough spiritual essence."
"Spirits are difficult to bring into existence in the first place."
"Only because you set up so many Magic Arrays in the Northern Frontier, my friend, and occasionally nourish them with your music, have so many appeared."
Oak paused, then reassured Kroya. "Without spiritual
