  • Mjosgard grabbed a gun and held Queen Otohime hostage, prompting Fisher Tiger to clench his fists again.

Ch. 63Poseidon

Mjosgard held Queen Otohime hostage until Shirahoshi’s distress summoned four Sea Kings, revealing her connection to Poseidon. On Sabaody, Barn sensed something unusual and asked Rayleigh about the rookie expected to arrive soon.

  • Mjosgard threatened the Fish-Men and pressed his gun against Queen Otohime while Fisher Tiger struggled against those restraining him.
  • Shirahoshi cried out for her mother, and her distress stirred the sea and shook Fish-Man Island.
  • Four Sea Kings lifted Mjosgard’s ship, then turned toward Shirahoshi and returned beneath the water after confirming she was safe.
  • Queen Otohime, Fisher Tiger, Poniton, and Jinbe recognized that Shirahoshi might be the Sea King Poseidon.
  • On Sabaody, Barn told Rayleigh he had sensed something unusual, then asked about the rookie Rayleigh expected to arrive within a couple of days.

  • Buzzby identified himself as a member of the FFF Mercenary Guild and told Moria that Rayleigh wanted to see him.
  • When Moria’s crew taunted Buzzby, Moria confronted him with his shadow-coated fist, but Buzzby turned his gun and fired a bullet past Moria’s ear, making Moria realize Buzzby could use Haki.
  • Buzzby revealed his name and led Moria to the guild branch, where Barn told Rayleigh that they had arrived.
  • Barn leaped down and struck at Moria with Nidai Kitetsu, but Moria turned into bats and avoided the blow.
  • Barn introduced himself as Barn Bashut, also known as Asura, and challenged Moria to exchange moves.

  • Moria transformed into bats and used Shadow Box, but Barn broke through it and attacked him with Moonlight Slash.
  • Moria evaded Barn with Shadow Doppelganger and transformed with Shadow Revolution, but Barn defeated him after activating Mind's Eye.
  • That night, Barn asked Moria why he had set sail; Moria shouted that he pursued dreams, freedom, and the title of Pirate King, bringing back Barn's memory of York inviting him to pursue freedom.
  • Moria stayed in Sabaody for several days while Rayleigh coated Thriller Bark and gave him advice on Haki, but Barn avoided him until his departure.
  • Barn brought Buzzby to join Moria's crew for a while, called Moria a brat, and told Rayleigh he had begun to admire him.

Ch. 67The original purpose

Barn learned that Queen Otohime had gone alone to meet the Celestial Dragons and decided to leave with Leonard to see an old friend. After an anxious wait, Otohime returned to Fish-Man Island with a Celestial Dragon’s letter supporting her proposal, giving the islanders hope that they could move to the surface.

  • Otohime addressed the islanders at Joncoude Square and said the letter could help Fish-Man Island move to the surface.

Ch. 68Bubbles

Queen Otohime’s appeal for signatures gained support from Fish-Man Island’s people, but the collection was set on fire and she was shot while trying to save it. She collapsed amid the flames as the plaza erupted into panic.

  • Queen Otohime asked the people to sign her petition, and children’s signatures encouraged their parents and other islanders to join in.
  • The Left Minister brought a larger box as the people enthusiastically submitted signatures, moving Otohime to tears of joy.

  • A hidden assailant shot Otohime in the chest, and she collapsed as the plaza fell into chaos.

Ch. 69Rage!

  • Barn angrily slashed through the Guild building with Nidai Kitetsu, then sent Adam to fetch Rayleigh.
  • Sengoku visited Dr. Vegapunk in a basement in Mary Geoise and asked how his work was progressing.

Ch. 70The Marines' research project

Vegapunk tested the Reinforcement Machine recovered from Barn’s hideout and discovered that it could strengthen weapons, though the results were unreliable and required scarce red stones. Sengoku promised to supply more and said Vegapunk would eventually meet Barn at Impel Down, while Marco sensed that someone was watching him aboard the Moby Dick.

  • Vegapunk installed the mysterious device recovered from Barn’s hideout into the Reinforcement Machine and used it to reinforce a pistol.
  • Vegapunk demonstrated that the reinforced pistol could embed a bullet in a massive rock, then watched it crumble into dust because the process was unreliable.
  • Vegapunk said he needed more red stones, and Sengoku agreed to provide them.
  • Vegapunk asked to meet Barn, and Sengoku said he would arrange a meeting at Impel Down.
  • Marco woke from his nap aboard the Moby Dick and told Vista that he felt someone was watching him.

  • Barn asked Leonard about the events ten years earlier, and Leonard admitted he had planned them.

Ch. 75Despicable tactics

Leonard told Barn how the World Government orchestrated Bandy Waldo’s defeat ten years earlier by infiltrating his crew and turning them against him. Waldo fell to Cipher Pol, while Beyo Jack led the surviving comrades in a desperate escape.

  • Leonard explained that the World Government, not the Navy, had ordered the campaign against Bandy Waldo after he killed Celestial Dragons and disrupted the balance between pirates and marines.
  • During the battle, Garp and Sengoku realized the World Government had arranged a Pirate Alliance, and a Cipher Pol agent warned them that the situation was about to change.
  • World’s crew mutinied, shooting him and declaring they would surrender to the World Government.
  • After World killed the mutineers, Cipher Pol agents revealed they had posed as his comrades and one of them stabbed him with an Armament Haki-coated Finger Pistol.
  • Beyo Jack escaped with Nanting, Gairam, and the others, while the wounded World lost consciousness, consumed by thoughts of their betrayal.

Ch. 76Amazon Lily

Barn and his companions returned to Amazon Lily, where Barn reflected on his first arrival there twenty years earlier. World’s crew also reached the island, intending to abduct its empress, while Beyo Jack opposed the plan and remembered how their ship and cannon had once been meant to symbolize freedom.

  • Barn, Fitz, Leonard, and the others reached the Calm Belt aboard Laboon, and Barn recognized Amazon Lily as they approached.

  • Gairam reported that the crew had spotted Amazon Lily, and World prepared to approach the island with Beyo Jack.
  • Ten years earlier, World proposed building a submarine and an enormous gun emplacement to deter attackers, and Beyo Jack had called their ship a symbol of freedom.
  • After World left, Beyo Jack was left alone in the lookout tower, where quiet sobbing could be heard.

Ch. 77Everything had changed

Gloriosa struggled with the Navy’s demand that Amazon Lily help hunt Bandy Waldo until Barn Bashut returned, giving her a chance to discuss their shared past. They mourned Aishi and reflected on how time had changed everyone except Barn.

  • Gloriosa told Barn that the Navy wanted Amazon Lily to join the Shichibukai and capture Bandy Waldo, and Barn considered World’s presence in the Calm Belt.
  • Hancock watched Barn and Gloriosa talking and privately imagined that she would be a better match for Barn than Gloriosa.
  • World and Beyo Jack infiltrated Amazon Lily, identified Hancock as its future ruler, and World seized her.
  • Barn sensed World’s presence and confronted him, but World warned Barn not to interfere and escaped with Hancock using Moa Moa Tenfold Speed.
  • Barn stopped Gloriosa from pursuing World and said he would fulfill the Navy’s demand himself instead of sending Amazon Lily’s warriors.

Ch. 79Rescue

World took Hancock to his fortress, the Grosser, and left her in Nanting’s care. As the Marines prepared to reinforce Akainu against World, Barn set out with Fitz to bring Hancock back safely.

  • World carried Hancock to the Grosser and ordered Nanting to watch her.
