Ch. 81Rendezvous

Garp rendezvoused with Akainu and met Mihawk and Ari Klos, while Barn and his companions were led through the Grosser to meet the World Pirates’ captain. The chapter ended with Barn, Leonard, and Fitz entering a tunnel toward the captain as Sebastian admitted he had lost.

  • Garp joined Akainu’s ships and learned that Mihawk had accepted the Navy’s invitation to become a Shichibukai and that Ari Klos was a FFF Guild intelligence agent hired by the Navy.
  • Garp invited Ari to join the Navy, but Ari declined and chose to remain with the Guild.
  • A Navy soldier reported that the ships were nearing the location where the Celestial Dragons had been attacked, and Akainu ordered them to proceed.
  • Sebastian brought Barn, Leonard, and Fitz to Gairam, who opened a tunnel through the Grosser and directed them to the captain.
  • Barn followed Fitz into the tunnel, and Leonard went after them despite suspecting a trap.

Ch. 82Long time no see

  • Gairam brought Barn, Leonard, and Fitz out of the tunnel to meet World.
  • World led Barn and his companions to a chamber, where they found Hancock gagged in an iron cage.
  • Barn told World he had come to stop his plan and rescue Hancock, and World denied having any plan.
  • Leonard cut down Hancock's cage with Rankyaku, and Barn comforted her before sending her to Leonard.
  • Beyo Jack interrupted the argument and told World that this was not what they had wanted.

Ch. 83The original dream

Beyo Jack reminded World of their childhood dream to sail around the world together, recalling how they left their island and began their adventure as the Bandy Brothers. He ended with the memory of World founding the World Pirates, while the brothers’ disagreement remained unresolved.

  • Beyo Jack defied World and asked whether he remembered what they had wanted most at the beginning.
  • Beyo Jack recalled how, thirty years earlier, he and young World dreamed of exploring the sea together despite Beyo Jack’s illness.
  • World promised to protect Beyo Jack and insisted they would sail around the world as brothers.
  • A tsunami wrecked their boat soon after they set sail and washed the Bandy Brothers onto an island.
  • Beyo Jack stopped World from seriously hurting people in a bar, and World declared their name as the Bandy Brothers.
  • Beyo Jack recalled that World’s happy smile lasted until he founded the World Pirates and gathered many companions.

Ch. 84Refusing to See Reason!

Beyo Jack recalled how World’s crew became feared after attacking the World Government, then tried to stop World from carrying out his plan. When World attacked Leonard, Barn intervened, and the two prepared to fight.

  • Beyo Jack recounted how World rescued him, built up the World Pirates, and became known as a destroyer of the world after attacking a World Government ship.
  • Beyo Jack urged World to remember their dream and not destroy the World Government, but World refused to listen and told him to stay out of the way.
  • Barn declared that he had come to stop World’s plan, and Leonard began to explain what had happened ten years earlier.

  • World used his More-More powers to bombard Barn with stones, but Barn blocked the attacks with the Nidai Kitetsu and revealed that he could sense World through his hearing.
  • World unleashed a minute-long Hundredfold Hail of Bullets, leaving Barn scraped and exhausted in a crater.
  • Hancock ran to Barn while World judged him no longer a threat.
  • The Grosser shook as Garp’s seven warships opened fire, and Akainu’s magma attack melted through the roof of the chamber.
  • World welcomed the Marines’ arrival and ordered Beyo Jack to prepare the ship’s weapon, dismissing Beyo Jack’s warning that firing it could sink the Grosser.

Ch. 86The truth

World revealed that he had viewed Beyo Jack and the others as tools, then admitted that his grudge over the events ten years ago had never faded. After Barn defeated him, Barn brought Leonard forward to explain that the incident had been a misunderstanding, leaving the truth about it not yet revealed.

  • World told Beyo Jack that he had never trusted his crew and had planned to use the Grosser to achieve his goal.
  • Barn saved Beyo Jack from World's attack and struck World with Asura Evil Light Slash, seriously injuring him.
  • World said that he still resented what had happened ten years earlier and asked Barn to kill him rather than let the Marines capture him.
  • Barn sheathed Nidai Kitetsu and said he had wanted to talk, then called Leonard to explain the old misunderstanding.
  • Leonard introduced himself as the former chief of CP9 and began to explain what had really happened ten years ago.

Ch. 87World Gone Mad

Leonard revealed that CP9 spies had caused World's betrayal, driving World into a blood-soaked rampage. Barn went out to stop him, but Ari took on World while Barn faced Mihawk, who demanded to see Barn's true Evil Light Slash.

  • Leonard told World that CP9 spies had betrayed him ten years earlier, and Beyo Jack confirmed that he had ordered the retreat to save the crew.

  • Barn left Leonard to guard Hancock and went outside, where he used Evil Light Slash to try to halt World's rampage.
  • Mihawk broke through Barn's slash, while Ari Klos blocked World and asked Bastille to hold off Barn and Mihawk.
  • Barn faced Mihawk, who drew Black Blade Night and challenged him to reveal his true Evil Light Slash.

Ch. 88Your Potential Is Limitless

Barn defeated Mihawk in their duel but spared him, and Mihawk vowed to return in ten years. As Garp charged toward Barn, Ari prepared to fight World in earnest.

  • Mihawk attacked Barn with a powerful slash, but Barn countered with his Evil Light Slash and overwhelmed Mihawk.
  • Barn stopped his attack before it killed Mihawk, praised his swordsmanship, and told him he had used his full strength.
  • Mihawk vowed to challenge Barn again in ten years, then returned to the warship and fell asleep.
  • Garp stopped Onigumo from berating Mihawk and charged off the warship to confront Barn.
  • Ari dodged World's attacks with the Six Powers, then emptied black sand from the Three Iron Rods and challenged World.

Ch. 89The FFF Guild's True Strength

Ari fought World, using his magnetic powers and iron sand before World overwhelmed him with Armament Haki and knocked him unconscious. As World prepared to finish him, Akainu intervened, while Garp and Barn prepared to face each other.

  • World fired bullets at Ari, but Ari stopped them with his ability and introduced himself as the “Brake Pad.”
  • World coated pebbles with Armament Haki and threw them at Ari, breaking through his Magnetic Field and grazing his cheek.
  • Ari used iron sand and the bullets World had fired to launch an explosive counterattack, but World defended himself with Armament Haki.
  • World struck Ari with a hundredfold-speed Bullet Storm, broke through his Iron Sand Barrier, and knocked him unconscious.
  • Akainu stopped World from killing Ari and identified himself as the Marine Admiral.
  • Barn and Garp reunited, praised Ari’s strength as proof of the FFF Guild’s true strength, and prepared to fight.

Ch. 90Absolute Darkness

Barn used his awakened darkness to isolate Garp, Akainu, and World, then offered to leave with World if the Marines stopped interfering. When Garp refused, Barn restored Garp’s hearing and attacked Akainu from the shadows, leaving Garp uncertain how the fight would end.

  • Garp and Barn exchanged Haki-coated blows before Barn launched a Ghost Seal Bead and concealed Garp, Akainu, and World in absolute darkness.
  • Barn contacted World directly in his mind, told him to stay still, and said he would deal with Garp and Akainu.
  • Barn asked Garp to let him take World away and warned that the darkness’s collapse could endanger Akainu, but Garp refused to back down.
  • Barn restored Garp’s hearing while Akainu remained disoriented, then repeatedly slashed Akainu with Nidai Kitetsu from the darkness.
  • Garp heard Akainu cry out in pain and realized Barn was attacking him unseen.

Ch. 91The looming war

Barn forced Garp to withdraw and leave him with World, while the Marines prepared to fight Whitebeard over Saipan Island. Sengoku learned Barn might enter the coming battle, and an unnamed bald swordsman offered to go in his place.

  • Barn persuaded Garp to stop fighting and let him leave with World.
  • Garp stopped Akainu from attacking Barn, and the Marines returned to their warship with the unconscious Ari.
  • Sengoku ordered Garp and Akainu to sail for Saipan Island, a source of Terranium in Whitebeard's territory.
  • Garp told Sengoku that Barn had disrupted the operation against World, prompting Sengoku to consider joining the battle himself.
  • After learning Barn was a dual Devil Fruit User, the bald swordsman told Sengoku to stay behind and said he would go to Saipan Island himself.

Ch. 92Marco's sudden arrival

Barn reunited with Hancock after Akainu and Garp left, then asked World to join forces against the World Government. World agreed, and the chapter ended with an injured blue-flamed bird falling from the sky.

  • Hancock ran to Barn and clung to him, while Leonard and the others gathered after the fighting stopped.
  • Barn took Leonard, World, and Beyo Jack to the command room to discuss an alliance against the World Government.

  • Barn named Golden Lion, Whitebeard, Dark King Rayleigh, and himself as allies, and World left with Beyo Jack to consult the crew.
  • World returned and agreed to join forces with Barn, then an injured blue-flamed bird fell from the sky as Fitz cried out.

Ch. 93The mighty expeditionary force

Marco returned badly injured and warned Barn that Whitebeard needed rescuing, prompting Barn to prepare to leave for Saipan Island. Sengoku dispatched a massive Marine expeditionary force to join the battle there.

  • Fitz and Leonard brought Marco back to Barn, and Leonard determined that a dragon-like attacker had broken Marco’s left arm.
  • Marco identified Saint Caprias as his attacker and urged Barn to save Whitebeard.
  • Barn and Leonard suspected the Marines wanted Saipan Island because they had acquired a Reinforcement Machine, and Barn planned to leave alone while Leonard took Hancock to Amazon Lily and sought Adam and Shiki.
  • Sengoku rallied more than ten thousand Marines at Mary Geoise and ordered Aokiji and several Vice Admirals to join Saint Caprias, while Akainu and Garp headed for Saipan Island.

Ch. 94Whitebeard!

  • Capulias traveled with Vergo aboard a pleasure yacht and said he wanted to see Whitebeard’s strength for himself.
  • Vergo ordered the Marine ships to attack, while Capulias transformed his left hand into a dragon’s claw and confronted Whitebeard.
  • Capulias caught Whitebeard’s Naginata with his claw, and Whitebeard punched it with a Tremor-Tremor Fruit-powered fist.

Ch. 95Tyrant Dragon King

Capulias fought Whitebeard in his dragon-human form and withstood the Tremor-Tremor Fruit’s attacks as their battle escalated. When Akainu targeted Whitebeard’s crew with Meteor Volcano, Jozu intercepted Capulias and Whitebeard shattered the falling magma, while Akainu smiled as though his plan had succeeded.

  • Whitebeard struck Capulias with his naginata and tremors, sending him flying and drawing blood despite his powerful defenses.
  • Capulias rose in dragon-human form, unleashed Conqueror’s Haki, and resumed fighting Whitebeard as Vergo said he had not yet used his full strength.
  • A warship intelligence officer reported that Admiral Akainu and Vice Admiral Garp had arrived in the area.
  • Akainu launched Meteor Volcano at Whitebeard’s crew on Saipan Island, forcing Whitebeard to knock Capulias away and reach for the falling magma.
  • Jozu charged into Capulias and held him off while Whitebeard used Great Quake to destroy the molten meteor swarm.
  • Akainu watched from a distant warship, his hands dripping magma, and smiled as though his scheme had succeeded.

Ch. 96Volcanic eruption! Akainu gone mad!

Akainu attacked Whitebeard’s crew with a massive Meteor Volcano, provoking Whitebeard into shattering the surrounding area and triggering Saipan Island’s eruption. Akainu emerged from the volcano as a gigantic Lava Behemoth, and Whitebeard ordered his crew to flee before someone unleashed Ice Age.

  • Garp refused to join the fight as Akainu leaped from the mast and headed toward Whitebeard.
  • Jozu fought Capulias while Whitebeard destroyed Akainu’s Meteor Volcano, and Vista charged at Akainu to protect Pops.
  • Akainu struck Vista aside, then launched Meteor Volcano at the Whitebeard Pirates and taunted Whitebeard from Saipan Island’s volcano.
  • Whitebeard hurled his Naginata at Akainu and shattered the surrounding space, causing a tsunami, an earthquake, and Saipan Island’s volcano to erupt.
  • Akainu emerged from the crater as a gigantic Lava Behemoth, and Whitebeard ordered his crew to escape before a voice declared, “Ice Age!”

Ch. 97Ice and fire

Aokiji froze the sea as the Whitebeard Pirates tried to escape Akainu’s magma attack, trapping them between Marines on the ice and Capulias on shore. Whitebeard faced Akainu and Aokiji alone, then caught Atmos’s axe and challenged them again.

  • Aokiji froze the sea around Saipan, killing some pirates, while Whitebeard blocked Akainu’s Great Eruption with his Haki and Devil Fruit power.
  • Whitebeard ordered his crew onto the ice as Jozu kept Capulias occupied, and Thatch led the pirates toward the waiting G-5 members and Marines.
  • Vista, Thatch, Atmos, and Teach led the Whitebeard Pirates into battle against Vergo, Bastille, Onigumo, Dalmatian, Momonga, and John of the Giants.
  • Aokiji and Akainu attacked Whitebeard together, but he shattered their ice and magma assaults with Great Quake, risking cracks across the ice sheet beneath his sons.
  • Akainu warned Whitebeard that another Great Quake could endanger the pirates on the ice, so Atmos threw him his axe and Whitebeard caught it, coated himself in Haki, and challenged Akainu and Aokiji.

Ch. 98Whitebeard's Fury

Whitebeard overwhelmed Akainu and Aokiji in battle, but the Marines countered by targeting the ice holding Whitebeard’s sons and their own soldiers. Akainu launched Meteor Volcano at the ice, leaving Whitebeard alarmed as the attack closed in.

  • Whitebeard countered Akainu’s Lava Behemoth and trapped him in a pressure dome before crushing the giant form with the Tremor-Tremor Fruit’s power.
  • Whitebeard seized Aokiji’s ice blade and struck him with a quake, leaving both admirals battered.
  • Akainu rose and told Aokiji to help him cripple Whitebeard by shattering the ice beneath Whitebeard’s sons and freezing them as they fell into the sea.
  • Akainu reached the Saipan Island Volcano and unleashed Meteor Volcano toward the enormous expanse of ice.
  • Whitebeard saw the lava meteors descending toward the ice and realized the danger.

Ch. 99Asura!

Barn arrived at Marineford and destroyed Akainu’s Meteor Volcano, saving the Whitebeard Pirates from the lava meteors. After reuniting with Whitebeard and Marco, he confronted Capulias over Jozu’s injuries.

  • The Whitebeard Pirates charged the Marines as Akainu’s lava meteors threatened to kill them, while Whitebeard swore to avenge his sons.
  • Barn’s Asura Evil Light Slash destroyed the meteors, and the panicked Marines fled as the pirates rallied.
  • Barn brought the wounded Marco ashore on Laboon, sent Laboon back to Sabaody, and reunited Marco with Whitebeard.
  • Whitebeard told Barn about the Marine forces and a dangerous presence hidden among the warships; Barn sensed the red silhouette with his Mind’s Eye.
  • Capulias emerged after defeating Jozu, and Barn stopped Whitebeard from charging before sending Jozu to safety.
  • Barn drew Nidai Kitetsu and faced Capulias, identifying himself as Barn Bashut, also known as Asura.

Ch. 100"Tyrant Dragon King," the strongest Celestial Dragon!

  • Capulias ordered Vergo and the Marines to retreat, while Garp took the weakened Akainu and Aokiji away from Whitebeard.
  • Barn sensed danger in Capulias’s growing aura and urged Whitebeard to leave; Whitebeard reluctantly agreed.
  • Capulias declared himself the Tyrant Dragon King and the strongest Celestial Dragon as he prepared to use a deadly move against Barn.
