Background and History
Ye Liang is a transmigrator whose memories of his previous life are deeply personal. At Ryūchi Cave, the White Snake Sage uses Dilraba’s likeness to exploit those memories during an illusion test. The encounter causes Ye Liang to lose control, devastate the cave with Almighty Push and Tailed Beast Bombs, and ultimately become the Sage’s disciple. 21
During his early shinobi-era travels, Ye Liang confronts Yagura, exposes a White Zetsu impostor posing as Ōnoki, and investigates a White Zetsu camp alongside Mei Terumi. He later encounters a false Ye Liang who possesses copied techniques and the Three-Tails’ power. 44 45 46 69 70
After entering the Underworld Realm, Ye Liang cultivates the Nether Body Forging Method and adapts to a world where physical strength and Death Qi determine survival. In the Land of Ancestors, his Wind Release is mistaken for divine power when he defends the Matsushita Clan; the local population subsequently worships him and brings offerings while he recovers. 137 138 180
Ye Liang later enters the Ōtsutsuki clan as a Main Family member. He earns a reputation as its strongest rookie by saving others from danger and killing a Fourth Stage Arid Beast, then exposes the Snake-eyed Man’s scheme and claims an alloy plaque as his first-place reward. 281 294
On War Planet, Ye Liang becomes Mo Wu’s advisor after healing Iron Dragon. He survives an assassination attempt over a Law Orb, escapes into the Exotic Beasts Jungle, and returns during the Cosmic Grand Competition at Half-step Peak. His reappearance saves Mo Wu’s faction and establishes him as one of the competition’s decisive combatants. 325 328 357 404 405
After reaching Peak Expert status, Ye Liang travels across multiple realms, aids the Insectoids and the Bai Family, investigates the Great Yuan and Kuye Kingdom arcs, and breaks through to Earth Immortalhood. He later enters the Immortal Realm through the Gate of the Immortal Realm and becomes involved with Slaughter Gate, the Celestial Fox Clan, and threats from the Outer World. 486 509 607 679 685 693
In the Outer World, Ye Liang reaches Saint Great Perfection, receives the Dragon Ancestor’s Sage power, and is cast into the River of Time after his human identity is exposed. By the finale, he becomes a Sage; changes to the past avert the Immortal Domain war, and he marries Zi Ling and Lilo Ai. 792 799 804 818
Appearance
Ye Liang is repeatedly described as handsome. Following his three years of Sage Mode training, he loses some youthful innocence and appears more mature and masculine. 22
- Uses disguises when necessary, including an elderly human-skin mask that conceals his youthful appearance. 539
- Can change clothing through Spatial Techniques and equip self-made alloy armor before battle. 757
- Is recognizable enough that enemies and civilians frequently identify him by his face despite changes of clothing. 673 678
Personality
Ye Liang is adaptable and socially calculating. During the Barren Star hunt, he flatters Ōtsutsuki Tongren to obtain protection while deliberately presenting himself as helpless; he also conceals his strength and identity when doing so offers a tactical advantage. 281 293
He is protective toward people he accepts as allies. He heals Iron Dragon, Scar, Ah Li, and Lan Chi, rescues Lizi from Hong Ye’s group, and restrains his power against Southern Barbarian soldiers after recognizing the consequences for their families. 325 362 486 498 509 678
His compassion is selective. Ye Liang can be indifferent to strangers’ suffering, as when he casually aids Wang Quanfugui without waiting for thanks, and he sometimes relies on intimidation, deception, or overwhelming violence to resolve threats. 294 472 548
Memories and romantic attachments can destabilize him. Dilraba’s likeness triggers his rampage at Ryūchi Cave, while meeting Yan Bingyun again causes visible distress over their past relationship. 21 732
