Gao Ze looked at Wugou.
The monk with delicate features held the silver-haired Demon Venerable in his arms, his gaze open, filled with resolve and pleading as he looked at Gao Ze.
"All right, I understand," Gao Ze said. "I came to investigate the truth behind the Flowing Cloud Sect's destruction. Now that we've found it, I'll certainly search it thoroughly."
Gao Ze picked up the Thunderclap Sword from the ground, his gaze falling on the skull.
He and Bai Wanru had been close friends, so he naturally knew whom this sword belonged to.
On the way here, he had seen charred bones scattered throughout the Flowing Cloud Sect.
Traces of foxfire lingered on them.
Judging by that alone, Ning Ke himself must have burned Bai Wanru and these disciples to death.
Gao Ze's expression grew cold, but he did not rush to a conclusion.
He walked to the center of the hall and brushed his fingers over a shattered stone stele, of which only the base remained.
His divine sense seeped into it, probing carefully.
Then his eyes widened slightly.
He had sensed an extremely faint trace of demonic aura lingering at the base of the stone stele.
Gao Ze crouched down and gathered the scattered fragments of the stone stele, piecing them together. He discovered faint runes on their surfaces.
A stone stele, runes, corpses burned by foxfire...
A thought flashed through Gao Ze's mind.
Could the Great Demon suppressed beneath the Flowing Cloud Sect have broken through its seal, causing everyone in the sect to undergo demonization three years ago? Had Ning Ke happened to arrive then and wiped out the sect?
But if that was true, why had Ning Ke hurt Lou Yunxiao?
*Why had he deliberately refused to explain, letting the Human Clan misunderstand him
