Background / History
Wugou was born able to see the threads of karma and fate. This made him unusually sensible but emotionally detached from childhood. At a funeral, he told the grieving relatives that the death was fate and that they need not mourn, prompting them to look at him differently 105.
His father was a master Artifact Refiner whom Ning Ke trusted with the Buddha Lotus Lamp. The refiner embedded the lamp in a staff, which later came into Wugou’s possession 63 97.
Wugou’s deeper origins remain unexplained. After the war, Supreme God Wei Yuan searches the Main System for his past life, but every result reports missing information. Wei Yuan also senses a faint danger from him and recognizes that his manipulation of fate exceeds what gods ordinarily accomplish 175.
Appearance
- Features: A delicate-featured, fair-skinned young monk with clear, unclouded eyes 35 78 99.
- Head: Shaved bald 80 117.
- Clothing: Wears a Buddhist kasaya, including during the final battle and his visit to Nanluo Temple 170 181.
- Expression: His normally warm, composed appearance can become icy and severe when he delivers judgment 63 78.
Personality
Wugou initially appears quiet, restrained, and accepting of destiny. His familiarity with fate distances him from ordinary grief, but meeting Ning Ke awakens curiosity and attachment that he had rarely experienced before. Ning Ke eventually becomes his “guiding star,” and Wugou begins actively seeking the strength to change rather than merely observe fate 63 105 123.
Behind his reserved manner, he is talkative, inquisitive, and quietly cunning. Once Ning Ke agrees to let him remain nearby, Wugou bombards him with questions about his disguises, fox nature, age, family, and objectives. He also uses bargains and carefully chosen provocations to keep Ning Ke from shutting him out 63 104 105.
His compassion does not prevent ruthlessness. He kills the demonized Yongjie as the consequence of Yongjie’s own choices, then recites a rite for the dead. Conversely, he releases suffering demon creatures rather than treating them solely as enemies 78 79.
Wugou’s loyalty becomes stronger than his instinct for self-preservation. He refuses to abandon Gao Ze against an overwhelmingly powerful enemy, risks Ning Ke’s anger to force a conversation, and ultimately sacrifices himself to make the Sun God mortal 104 118 170 171.

Fate-Based Domain / Domain of Life
Wugou’s domain concerns karma and destiny; its full sacrificial release is called the Domain of Life 123 161 170.
- Fate-dependent defense: Attacks inexplicably veer away from him when his fate does not permit the intended harm 160.
- Regeneration: While his domain remains active and he is not fated to die, he can recover repeatedly from injuries—even those inflicted using chaotic power 161.
- Outcome manipulation: Declares that his prayer beads will shatter Lou Yunxiao’s ice armor, causing them to achieve what their earlier impacts could not 161.
- Countermeasure: Lou Yunxiao’s Seizure domain can potentially take his fate. Wugou acknowledges that this could defeat him, though Lou declines to use it against an ally 161.
- God-slaying application: Uses his life, heart, and blood-soaked artifacts to decree the Sun God’s death, removing his healing and preventing reincarnation once his soul is destroyed 170 172 175.

After Ning Ke saves him twice in extradimensional space, he pledges his life to him 63 99 101 121 123.
- Lou Yunxiao — Ally and rival for closeness to Ning Ke. Wugou challenges his mistreatment of Ning Ke, spars with him, and later gains genuine respect for his postwar work. In the modern world, he helps Lou approach Ning Ke again 78 152 161 178 181.
