Ke Meng stared at the fiery red cross for a few seconds and murmured, "Come on, demon. Let me see what you've got."
With that, Ke Meng put the cross around his neck.
The instant he put on the cross necklace, Ke Meng's body and soul trembled, as though he had been nailed to a cross.
His spiritual perception spread without limit, reaching an unknown demonic small world through Synesthesia. Magma surged all around, leaving only the rocks in the central patch of land unmelted.
The cross itself slowly turned upside down. A minute later, it had finished inverting.
Ke Meng saw himself hanging head-down, legs pointing skyward and both arms stretched straight out, forming an inverted cross.
If Ke Meng's body or soul died, he would be reborn in the demonic space where the cross stood.
A demon wreathed in red flames crawled out of the fiery magma, scorching red lava sliding down the contours of its steel-like muscles.
The demon watched hungrily, awaiting Ke Meng's death.
"Who's there?" The demon suddenly looked in a certain direction, sensing someone's gaze.
After a long moment, a smile appeared on the flame demon's face.
"Interesting. A human can actually sense my existence through Cross-World Synesthesia."
"Your soul is just to my taste. I look forward to the day you become a laboring soul." The demon laughed, then leaped into the magma and disappeared.
Ke Meng withdrew his gaze.
The Ke Meng nailed to the cross was not his true self, but a fragment of his soul and a duplicate of his body. If he died, he would be fully resurrected under the cross's rules and branded with the demon's mark, becoming its laboring soul forever.
But the demon had no idea that Ke Meng's resistance force was strong enough to withstand
