A flash of inspiration struck Ke Meng. He sensed the worldlines converging.
No matter what unexpected events occurred, the ultimate outcome was always the death of the First Playthrough Boss.
Early in the game, unexpected incidents had befallen the players, and Ke Meng had sent ghosts to stir up trouble. There had been plenty of variables.
But none of those events could change the final course. Whatever happened, the players had to kill the First Playthrough Boss, start new game plus, and then make their way to R'lyeh on the seabed.
The Cthulhu Faction also needed to kill the First Playthrough Boss to undo the ancient god seal. Only then could the game's history, distorted by the Evil God Avatar, return to normal.
At this point, the Black Ghost presented Ke Meng with two options.
The first was to help things along, assisting the human adventurers in defeating the First Playthrough Boss quickly.
The second was to ignore the adventurers and seek another way out. Surely some path would lead to the true history, though that path might not exist at all.
Without much deliberation, Ke Meng gave the Black Ghost his latest instructions.
"Help the adventurers advance."
His silent gaze carried the evil god's will, conveying it to the pitiful Black Ghost.
The Black Ghost trembled all over. Its repeated audiences with the evil god had made it stronger than before, allowing it to hear more information.
But that was all. The evil god's will was too terrifying for it to decipher much of the meaning.
Having received the evil god's command, the Black Ghost departed, filled with gratitude.
Wordless silence returned to R'lyeh once more, with only the sound of seawater stirring in his ears.
