Power Progression
The Divine Realm’s documented progression concerns its energy, restoration, and operating rules rather than a personal cultivation rank.
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Awakened, energy-rich world | 266 267 | By An Kai’s return, the realm has been awake for more than fifty years. Ordinary resources are extraordinarily potent, and Tier Nine has become a starting point rather than a pinnacle. |
| Fourth Layer suppression removed | 302 | An Kai absorbs the Divine Court’s Fourth Layer, uncovering an energy passage. The resulting surge advances the world’s timeline by roughly a thousand years and accelerates divine awakening. |
| Energy seal broken | 317 | Dong Mu destroys himself against the sealing sword beneath Good People Island. It splits into ninety-nine swords, releasing energy across the continents, Chaos Sea, and Insect Realm passage. |
| Mass immigration and energy depletion | 386 387 | Billions of Abyss creatures enter through passages opened by the God of Light. Their arrival strains the realm’s energy reserves. |
| Seventh Layer restoration begins | 388 | The Giant Vertical Eye’s arrival triggers the Divine Court Academy’s manifestation. The Academy begins restoring the realm’s energy. |
| Post-Academy expansion | 441 | After the Academy disappears, the Divine Realm is larger and more energetic. New Insect Realm Passages open at former population centers. |
| Abyss reclaimed through merger | 460 462 | The shattered Abyss merges into the Divine Realm, disrupting its rules and weakening deities dependent on them. The realm later recognizes this reclamation as one of An Kai’s beneficial actions. |
| Rebirth through revised rules | 498 | An Kai interprets the abandonment of True Spirit Space and the investment of reserves in nurturing deities as the realm discarding its old operating system and seeking rebirth. |
Geography
Five Great Continents
| Continent | Dominant Power | Distinguishing Features |
|---|---|---|
| Central | Taboos | Represented by the mysterious Taboo, who restrains conflict around the Chaos Sea to protect future advancement opportunities 267 269. |
| Eastern | Wise Humans | Claim to be the ancestors of the Human Race. Their territory retains its appearance from the realm’s awakening and is populated mainly by humans and humanoids 269. |
| Western | Believers | Worship multiple divinities, choosing allegiance according to divine strength and benefits. They acknowledge gods themselves rather than automatically respecting their servants or descendants 269. |
| Southern | Magical Beasts | Represented by the Three-Headed Dog and the Lion King. Later becomes the principal territory of factions serving First-Tier Deities 269 307 350. |
| Northern | Divine Remnants | Claim privileged connections to particular gods. Their leadership includes the God of Magic’s Heir, whom An Kai kills during his takeover of the continental powers 269 306. |
Notable Locations
- Chaos Sea — Contains Good People Island and Nameless Town. Powerful battles there can damage Insect Realm Passages, encouraging the continental powers to limit the strength of their interventions 267 269 321.
- Good People Island — Goodness Home’s principal Divine Realm base. Its escalating heat eventually deters sixth-rank divinities; after the Academy’s disappearance, the heat harms true spirits while helping living beings understand the Fire Spell Element 371 441.
- Goodness Home — Hidden beneath Good People Island during divine persecution. Later reorganized into an Inner City for the living and an Outer City over the sea for the dead 320 371 441.
- Nameless Town — A contested junction of Otherworld Passages. An Kai targets it to control movement between the Divine Realm and connected worlds 245 283.
- Desireless Forest — Northern territory of the God of Desirelessness, containing a large castle complex and ten million followers after his revival 336.
- Divine Court Remnants — Layered sites whose seals and reappearances repeatedly affect the realm’s energy and the timing of divine descent. The Seventh Layer is the Divine Court Academy; the Ninth is the Divine Court Resolution Center 302 388 475.
Rules and Cultivation
Power of Heaven and Earth
- Responsive intervention: The power of heaven and earth can aid cultivation, produce natural disasters, and publicly project an individual’s advancement across the Divine Realm and Insect Realms 148 267.
- Hostility toward Abyss representatives: An Kai’s position as Wealth Abyss Grand Lord initially causes the realm to reject him with a storm, despite their earlier favorable relationship 267.
- Recognition of advancement: The storm ends when the realm recognizes An Kai’s Earth Realm breakthrough and begins administering his advancement 267.
- Changing descriptions of awareness: An earlier explanation describes the realm’s “spirit” as operating rules rather than consciousness. An Kai later asserts that it possesses self-awareness, citing its competition with the Abyss’s consciousness over him 387 497.
Native Status and Baptism
- Original natives: Immortals are native beings with ageless lives and exceptional comprehension. Those who established regimes and rules came to call themselves gods 247 316.
- First-entry baptism: Native creatures receive a Divine Realm Baptism upon their first entry. The Giant Vertical Eye undergoes this process after arriving from the Abyss 388.
- Strength enhancement: Baptism can dramatically raise baseline strength; human newborns are documented reaching Tier Six directly 338.
- Newly recognized natives: The arriving Abyss creatures become Divine Realm natives almost immediately. This protects them against indiscriminate slaughter under the realm’s rules 387.
- Divine claims versus realm rules: The God of Light’s purge recognizes only evolved divinities as legitimate natives. This exclusionary doctrine differs from the realm’s later recognition of Abyss immigrants 370 387.
Advancement System
| Rank or Threshold | Documented Rule |
|---|---|
| Legendary | In the restored environment, inhabitants can reach this major realm after living in the Divine Realm for a few years 352. |
| Nirvana | The first significant obstacle for many inhabitants; adequate talent generally permits entry 352. |
| Unity | Requires cultivation methods, effort, and talent. Domain Integration is the stated ceiling for non-Immortals 352. |
| Divinity | Advancing beyond Unity: Domain Integration ordinarily requires Immortal status 321 352. |
| Nine divine ranks | Range from ninth-rank divinities to First-Tier Deities. Domain development is one criterion, while factional connections can also affect standing 325. |
| Supreme God | Stands above the nine divine ranks and requires the Divine Realm’s god-sealing recognition 325 488. |
- Players follow different requirements: Their tier advancements require defeating an NPC or Divine Realm monster rather than following the ordinary inhabitants’ cultivation system 352.
- Resurrection is rule-based: Teacher discovers that player bodies are reconstructed by the Divine Realm’s rules, using information carried by their consciousness 468.
- Independent power can resist disruption: An Kai’s self-developed “True” attributes remain usable when the Abyss merger disrupts rules relied upon by ordinary deities 376 462.
Energy and Divine Descent
- Stronger gods can descend only when the Divine Realm’s recovery supports them. The God of Radiance leads fifth-rank divinities down as soon as sufficient energy returns 390.
- Incomplete energy and rules make advancement from peak Second-Rank Divinity to First-Tier Deity especially demanding, requiring uninterrupted concentration 450.
- The God of Magic fears that sending numerous First-Tier Deities against An Kai could exceed what the realm can withstand 441.
- The Resolution Center’s duty is to seal the realm’s energy. Teacher’s premature deployment of it violates the realm’s rules so severely that it cannot remain without facing annihilation 475.
God-Sealing
- God-sealing signals that the Divine Realm considers a candidate qualified to become a Supreme God 488.
- Selection depends on beneficial, transformative actions as well as strength. An Kai’s reclamation of the Abyss contributes to his recognition 488.
- During An Kai’s ceremony, the realm requires him to help absorb one thousand additional Insect Realms. A later account lists finding and integrating ten thousand Insect Realms among his remaining ascension tasks 488 489.
- An Kai rejects the realm’s intended agenda in favor of overcoming the existing Supreme Gods and controlling the divinities himself 488.
Connected Realms
Insect Realms
- Insect Realms evolved from the Divine Realm and remain parts of it, even when allowed to develop independently 421.
- Some originate from manifested Domains left by deceased powerful beings; others form naturally 421.
- The Divine Realm never completely severs its connection to them. Passages provide routes for migration, invasion, and resource gathering 283 421 441.
- An Kai seeks control of these passages to regulate arrivals and obtain World Cores for spell upgrades 283.
Abyss
- The Abyss and Divine Realm historically oppose one another. Abyss recruitment turns former relatives, lovers, friends, and disciples into enemies, sustaining a blood feud lasting millennia 267 286.
- Teacher allies with the Abyss to seal the Divine Realm’s energy and force the gods into slumber 316.
- The God of Light later opens one hundred passages for an organized migration of Abyss creatures into the Divine Realm 386.
- An Kai’s Fire Realm eventually destroys the Abyss as a separate structure, causing it to merge into the Divine Realm 462.
History
Rise of Divine Rule
According to the Immortal, the earliest gods were native Immortals who established regimes under the stated aim of preserving the realm’s energy. Their actual rule enslaved other inhabitants. They shaped the flourishing of humans, the rise of orcs, connections with Insect Realms, and wars against the Abyss, treating racial histories as entertainment 316.
An Kai later witnesses an era without a strict hierarchy among divinities, when mixed divine descendants began killing gods and taking their positions. The God of Magic responded by imposing ranked classes and slaughtering divine descendants over nearly a century. His ambition was to unite divine strength and explore the true world beyond the Divine Realm—not merely its dependent Insect Realms 487.
Divine Court and the Energy Seal
The Divine Court’s pursuit of godhood was manipulated by the gods, who used its experiments to remove threats and rebalance the realm’s energy. Its founder’s research into the time spell element later alarmed the three Supreme Gods. They manufactured hostility between the Court and the divinities, culminating in the Court’s destruction and a massacre 302 468.
Teacher’s resistance connected the Insect Realm to the Divine Realm and drained its energy. His alliance with the Abyss forced the gods into a slumber expected to last ten thousand years, though he did not expect to survive until the seal ended 302 316.
Revival and Contested Rule
An Kai’s return to the awakened realm draws worldwide attention when his Earth Realm advancement is projected across its regions. The Five Great Powers initially mistake the spectacle for a breakthrough beyond Nirvana 267.
After forty years away in the Divine Court, An Kai returns and subdues the continental leaders. The God of Magic’s Heir dies for refusing him; the Lion King becomes his mount, and other leaders are bound by contracts. Players witness the proclamation that An Kai will become Lord of the Divine Realm 306 307.
Revived gods subsequently reclaim territory. At one point, the God of Light’s faction controls two-thirds of the realm, while factions serving First-Tier Deities hold the remaining third. Goodness Home nevertheless remains the Chaos Sea’s actual administrator beneath the surface arrangement 350.
Purge and Later Transformation
The God of Light launches “Preserve Similarities, Seek Differences, Theocracy Consolidation,” implementing an idea supplied by the God of Magic. Sixth-rank divinities slaughter inhabitants irrespective of race, status, or former devotion. Goodness Home survives beneath Good People Island, protected by the island’s extreme heat 370 371.
Later, mass Abyss immigration, the Academy’s appearance, and the Abyss merger transform the realm’s population and energy system. An Kai increasingly counters these changes through Meditation instruction, concealed defenses, and the destruction or subjugation of descending deities 387 388 443 468.
Following changes associated with Supreme Gods, Will-Bukelin proposes that the Divine Realm is “turning into a person.” An Kai connects its abandonment of True Spirit Space and nurturing of deities to an attempted rebirth, interpreting Supreme Gods as stand-ins created to administer other gods on its behalf 497 498.
